  • Purpose: This study investigated the effects of reeducation of nursing process on nurses' expertise, critical thinking disposition, and clinical decision making. Methods: Data were collected from March to June, 2007. The subjects were 47 Academic Credit Bank System Student Nurses. They were taught 'nursing process' during 1 semester(15weeks). 47 nurses were divided into three groups according to clinical experience(under 3 years, 3 to under 5 years, 5 years or more). After 15 weeks, the effects of education were compared using a paired t-test between pre-test and post-test. Results: There was a significant difference in the 3 to under 5 years experienced nurses's expertise(t=-3.659, p=.004) between the pre-test and post-test. There was a significant difference in the 5 years or more experienced nurses's expertise(t=-5.781, p<.001) and critical thinking disposition(t=-3.345, p=.003) between the pre-test and post-test. There were no significant differences in clinical decision making(accuracy, proficiency, and confidence) of 3 groups. Conclusion: Reeducation of nursing process is a valuable teaching and an evaluation strategy for 5 years or more experienced nurses to improve expertise and critical thinking disposition. We need to develop continuing education program for improving nurses' clinical decision making.

According to the results of this study, Mean score for academic burnout in nursing student was 2.58 out of 4 point. The factors of satisfaction with clinical practice(β=-.393, p<.001), satisfaction with nursing major(β=-.188, p<.001), responses to violence experience(β=.176, p<.001), perceived health status(β=-.156, p<.001) attacker(β=.135, p=.002), resilience(β=-.118, p=.016)were impact on the academic burnout level of nursing students. • As other major, students have difficulties to be successfully adapted to computer science major without some interest and skill to computer programming. In this paper, we try to find successful factors for computer science major freshmen students to computer programming. The factors we focused are programming experience before college entrance, taking liberal arts/natural science courses at high school, application motivations to computer major, existence of mentors, satisfaction to his/her computer department, student's holland job aptitude code. After analysis, taking liberal arts/natural science courses at high school, satisfaction to computer department, some holland job aptitude code are significant to their successful adaptation to computer major. Also, we found the holland job apptitude code is closely related to student's satisfaction to their major for engineering students including computer science students. Our analysis results will be a suggestion for designing computer science education program with students who enters college without some aptitude or preparation to his major.

  • Mathematical paradoxes may arise when computations give unexpected results. We use three paradoxes to illustrate how they work in the basic probability theory. In the process of resolving the paradoxes, we expect that student-teachers can pedagogically gain valuable experience in regards to sharpening their mathematical knowledge and critical reasoning.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the teacher's discourse structure of teachers according to the interaction pattern between teacher and student in the process of mathematization. To achieve this goal, we observed a semester class (44 lessons) of an experienced teacher who had practiced teaching methods for promoting student engagement for more than 20 years. Among them, one lesson case would be match the teacher's intention and the student's response and the other one lesson case would be to mismatch between the teacher's intention and the student's response was analyzed. In other words, in the process of mathematization based on students' engagement, the intention of the teacher and the reaction of the student was determined according to the cases where students did not make an error and when they made an error. A methodology used to develop a theory based on data collected through classroom observations(grounded theory). Because the purpose of the study is to identify the teacher's discourse structure to help students' mathematization, observe the teacher's discourse and collect data based on student engagement. Based on the teacher's discourse, conceptualize it as a discourse structure for students to mathematization. As a result, teacher's discourse structure had contributed to the intention of the teacher and the reaction of the student in the process of mathematization. Based on these results, we can help the development of classroom discourse for mathematization by specifying the role of the teacher to help students experience the mathematization process in the future.
