In many cases, open-type plate breakwaters use plates with multiple holes; the holes serve as energy dissipaters and weight reducers. Because of the multi-holes configuration, stress concentration should be considered during the design process. Among several design loading conditions, the loads from a possible collision with a man-made vessel or other unexpected events many damage a multi-perforated steel plate. In that case, the structural behavior of a multi-perforated steel plate is quite significant, and is not well understood. This study presents a collision analysis for a multi-perforated steel plate. First, four different perforation topologies (three with circles and one with squares) were selected to investigate the effect of different hole shapes on the structural response. Second, the wave force at a specific site was calculated and loaded onto a steel plate as a static load. The static stresses were used for reference values. Third, two rigid body impacters (cubical & cylindrical) were applied to the steel plates to investigate the transient stress responses. In addition, two different impacting angles ($45^{\circ}\;&\;90^{\circ}$) were selected to investigate the angle effect. From the collision analysis, the significance of the transient stresses was emphasized.
This study is to find out how the sawdust-mixed RC beam with holes acts compared to two case of normal one with sawdust without hole, without sawdust. variables are ED3H1, ED3H2, ED3H1UB, ED3H2L, ED5H1, ED5H1UB, ED5H2, ED5H2L, Normal with sawdust PLA without sawdust. All sand, aggregate, cement are in accordance with KS. mixing design is also in accordance with KS and done at D remicon company in order to decrease any error in mixing manually. ED3H1 showed 7tone of maximum load capacity having only minor tensile deformation around hole, compared to the center of the beam. ED5H2L showed almost same shape of tensile strain between hole area and center of two beam length, while having 9.5 tone load capacity, incase of two holes being in the longitudinal axis. But ED5H2 in case of two holes being in same forcing direction showed 8.4tone of load capacity while having minor tensile chape around hole and normal tensile shape in the center of beam length. Two diameter 3cm hole in longitudinal axis give more effective behavior than the other case, practically. Capacity decrease between 5cm and 3cm in eccentric position form the longitudinal axis is less than percents. There is minor capacity difference between hole diameter 3cm hole, but 13tone difference of load capacity between hole diameter 5cm.
This Study is to find out how RC beam mixed with sawdust acts comparing with normal beam without sawdust mixture, and how they can be applied to the actual structural frame, despite a Int that they are mixed with waste material : saying sawdust. ED3H1, ED3H2, ED5H1, ED5H2, ED3H1UB, ED5H1UB, ED3H2L, ED5H2L and Normal without sawdust mixture are main factor to be tested here in order to apply them to the actual case. D and H means diameter 3cm or 5cm, and holes one and two respectively. And all variables are tested with each two for one variables. Test results are compared using crack diagrams and strain & loads. There are eleven(11)% capacity decrease between ED 3H1 and ED5H1 in rebar, strain. Left and right side crack shapes are much similar in variable ED3H2L having maximum capacity 14.5 tone. ED5H2L having maximum capacity thirteen(13)tone, in case of normal 19.6 tone. Two holes in beam rather on the longitudinal direction than on the forcing direction can be more effective to keep the original capacity of the beam because this case can distribute load more uniformly. There is 33% capacity decreased in case of diameter five(5)cm, compared to diameter three(3)cm. Two holes give thirty nine(39) percent capacity decrease than one of diameter three(3)cm.
One major concern that has occupied the mind of the designers is a structural failure as result of stress concentration in the geometrical discontinuities. Understanding the effective parameters contribute to stress concentration and proper selection of these parameters enables the designer get to a reliable design. In the analysis of perforated isotropic and orthotropic plates, the effective parameters on stress distribution around holes include load angle, curvature radius of the corner of the hole, hole orientation and fiber angle for orthotropic materials. This present paper tries to examine the possible effects of these parameters on stress analysis of infinite perforated plates with central quasi-square hole applying grey wolf optimizer (GWO) inspired by the particular leadership hierarchy and hunting behavior of grey wolves in nature, and also the present study tries to introduce general optimum parameters in order to achieve the minimum amount of stress concentration around this type of hole on isotropic and orthotropic plates. The advantages of grey wolf optimizer are stout, flexible, simple, and easy to be enforced. The used analytical solution is the expansion of Lekhnitskii's solution method. Lekhnitskii applied this method for the stress analysis of anisotropic plates containing circular and elliptical holes. Finite element numerical solution is employed to examine the results of present analytical solution. Results represent that by selecting the aforementioned parameters properly, fewer amounts of stress could be achieved around the hole leading to an increase in load-bearing capacity of the structure.
The conception and experimental assessment of a removable friction-based shear connector (FBSC) for precast steel-concrete composite bridges is presented. The FBSC uses pre-tensioned high-strength steel bolts that pass through countersunk holes drilled on the top flange of the steel beam. Pre-tensioning of the bolts provides the FBSC with significant frictional resistance that essentially prevents relative slip displacement of the concrete slab with respect to the steel beam under service loading. The countersunk holes are grouted to prevent sudden slip of the FBSC when friction resistance is exceeded. Moreover, the FBSC promotes accelerated bridge construction by fully exploiting prefabrication, does not raise issues relevant to precast construction tolerances, and allows rapid bridge disassembly to drastically reduce the time needed to replace any deteriorating structural component (e.g., the bridge deck). A series of 11 push-out tests highlight why the novel structural details of the FBSC result in superior shear load-slip displacement behavior compared to welded shear studs. The paper also quantifies the effects of bolt diameter and bolt preload and presents a design equation to predict the shear resistance of the FBSC.

Using a level set method and topological derivatives, a topological shape optimization method that is independent of an initial design is developed for linearly elastic structures. In the level set method, the initial domain is kept fixed and its boundary is represented by an implicit moving boundary embedded in the level set function, which facilitates to handle complicated topological shape changes. The 'Hamilton-Jacobi (H-J)' equation and computationally robust numerical technique of 'up-wind scheme' lead the initial implicit boundary to an optimal one according to the normal velocity field while minimizing the objective function of compliance and satisfying the constraint of allowable volume. Based on the asymptotic regularization concept, the topological derivative is considered as the limit of shape derivative as the radius of hole approaches to zero. The required velocity field to update the H -J equation is determined from the descent direction of Lagrangian derived from optimality conditions. It turns out that the initial holes is not required to get the optimal result since the developed method can create holes whenever and wherever necessary using indicators obtained from the topological derivatives. It is demonstrated that the proper choice of control parameters for nucleation is crucial for efficient optimization process.

All current shipyards are using the customized CAD/CAM programs in order to improve the design quality and increase the design efficiency. Even though the data structures for ship design and construction are almost completed, the implementation related to the ship design processes are still in progress so that it has been the main causes of the bottleneck and delay during the middle of design process. In this study, we thought that the hole-plan system would be a good example which is remained to be improved. The people of outfitting division who don't have direct authority to edit the structural panels, should request the hull design division to install the holes for the outfitting equipment. For acceptance, they should calculate the hole position, determine the hole type, and find the intersected contour of panel. After consideration of the hull people, the requested holes are manually installed on the hull structure. As the above, many processes are needed such as communication and discussion between the divisions, drawings for hole-plan, and the consideration for the structural or production compatibility. However this iterative process takes a lot of working time and requires mental pressure to the related people and cross-division conflict. This paper will handle the hole-plan system in detail to automate the series of process and minimize the human efforts and time-consumption.
In this study, partially restrained beam-column moment joints in the weak-axis direction were examined using three large-scale specimens subject to cyclic loading in order to assess the seismic resistance of the joints of low-rise steel structures and to propose joint details based on the test results. The influence of different number of bolts on the moment joints was thoroughly investigated. It was found that the flexural capacity of the joints in the direction of weak axis was highly dependent on the number of high-tension bolts. In addition, even though the flexural connections subjected to cyclic loading was perfectly designed in accordance with current design codes, severe failure mode such as block shear failure could occur at beam flange. Therefore, to prevent excessive deformation at bolt holes under cyclic loading conditions, the holes in beam flange need to have larger bearing capacity than the required tensile force. In particular, if the thickness of the connecting plate is larger than that of the beam flange, the bearing capacity of the flange should be checked for structural safety.

An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the effects of circular damage hole on the characteristics of airfoil performance. The damage on a wing created from a hit by anti-air artillery was modeled as a circular hole. Force balance measurements and static pressure measurements on the wing surface were carried out for the cases of having damage holes of 10% chord size at quarter chord and/or half chord positions. All experiments were conducted at Reynolds number of $2.85\times10^5$ based on the chord length. The surface pressure data show big pressure alterations near the circular damage holes. This abnormal surface pressure distribution produces shear stress that could lead to the acceleration of the structural degradation of the wing around the circular damage hole. However, in spite of the existence of circular damage holes, the measured force data indicated the only a slight decrease in lift accompanied by increase in drag compared to the results of undamaged one. The influence of damage hole on the aerodynamic performance was increased as the location of damage moved to the leading edge. The effect on the control force was insignificant when the damaged size was not large.
Two-dimensional and three-dimensional DEM programs, UDEC and 3DEC, were used to investigate the mechanical stability of the conceptual design of deposition drift and deposition holes constructed in a crystalline rock mass. From the simulations, the influence of discontinuities, the number of deposition holes, and deposition hole interval on the stability of deposition drift and deposition holes could be determined. From the two-dimensional and three-dimensional analysis. it was concluded that three-dimensional analysis should be carried 7ut fur deriving reliable conclusions. Even though the deposition hole interval changed from 8 m to 3 m, which did not damage the mechanical stability of the deposition drift.
