A Study on the Impact of Financial Institutions' Creating Shared Value and Organizational Agility on Management Performance : Focusing on Social Capital (금융기관의 공유가치창출(CSV)과 조직민첩성이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 연구 : 사회적자본 중심으로)

  • Research on the impact of the creating shared value (CSV) and organizational agility on management performance in research targeting financial institution workers is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of CSV on business performance through social capital and the effect of organizational agility on business performance for employees of financial institutions. The results of the study are as follows. First, economic value had a positive effect on structural and relational capital, but social value had a positive effect on relational capital only. Second, organizational agility had a positive effect on financial and non-financial performance. Third, structural capital had a positive effect only on non-financial performance, and relational capital had a positive effect on financial and non-financial performance. In summarizing these findings, it was confirmed that although most of the variables had a positive effect, social value did not affect structural capital and structural capital did not affect financial performance. Based on such research results, the necessity of strengthening social value and structural capital was proposed to increase the management performance of financial institutions, and conclusions, implications, and future research directions were presented.

Effect of Temperament and Social Support on the School Adjustment of Adolescents: Mediating Effects of Positive Psychological Capital (청소년의 기질과 사회적 지지가 학교생활적응에 미치는 영향: 긍정심리자본의 매개효과)

  • This study grasps the structural relationships between temperament, social support, and school adjustment by adolescents as well as investigates the mediating effect of positive psychological capital from relationships between temperament, social support, and school adjustment. Participants in this study consisted of 763 students in the second grade of five middle schools. Productive correlation analysis were conducted on data collected for this study using PASW statistics ver. 18.0 program; in addition, structural equation modeling analysis was conducted using AMOS ver. 18.0 program. The main findings are as follows. Paths appeared in different ways according to the investigation of mediating effect of positive psychological capital under the impact of temperament and social support on school adjustment of adolescents. Investigation showed that harm avoidance temperament had a statistically significant indirect effect on school adjustment with a medium of positive psychological capital. Novelty seeking temperament and persistence temperament had a direct impact on the school adjustment of adolescents; however, it appeared to also indicate an indirect impact through a medium of positive psychological capital. Social support seemed to indicate a direct impact on school adjustment of adolescents as well as an indirect impact through a medium of positive psychological capital. This study provides basic data to help in the school adjustment of adolescents using personal, environmental, and psychological variables that proves the importance of positive psychological capital in adolescence.

The Conceptual Structure of Intellectual Capital in Fashion Companies (패션기업의 지적자본 개념구조)

  • The objective of this study is to find out the construct of intellectual capital in a fashion company. To this end, the mixed research methods that combined qualitative and quantitative approaches were conducted. Qualitative research was first conducted by in-depth interviews with 16 experts working in the fashion industry, and a questionnaire was then given to 121 fashion companies in order to fulfill the quantitative research portion of this study. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the conceptual structure of intellectual capital in a fashion company was revealed. A fashion company's intellectual capital is composed of 'human capital', 'structural capital', and 'relational capital'. Human capital has three components: a chief executive officer (CEO), members, and a human resource management capability. Structural capital has four components: organizational culture, information management capability, merchandising capability, and product innovation capability. Relational capital has three components: customer equity, marketing capability, and relationship management capability. Second, the conceptual structure of intellectual capital was confirmed via quantitative research analysis. All of the components of intellectual capital have internal consistency, convergent validity, construct validity, and discriminant validity.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of human resource development policies and practices on social capital and organizational performance. To serve the purpose, we focused on the effects of communities of practice (CoP) to social capital and suggested best practices of CoP from the aspect of social capital. Specifically, we considered new kinds of social capital such as social innovation capital and social integration capital as well as traditional social capital classified into structural, relational, and cognitive capital, Where, social innovation and social integration capital represent corporate's social capacity to innovate and corporate social responsibility (CSR). And then we conducted a multiple case study on Yuhan-Kimberly, POSCO, and HIRA. From the result, we identified that CoP activities have a positive effect on social capital and organizational performance.

  • This research attempted to examine the concept of social capital and intellectual capital for re-conceptualizing the library's total values. This approach enabled research to analyze that social capital formation is created by public libraries as functioning agencies. Intellectual capital consisted of human capital, structural capital and social capital was examined on applicability in the public libraries by understanding social capital. The research outlined the mechanism for total values of libraries. Finally the findings of this research were expected to help to research for libraries' identity.

The Effect of Intellectual Capital on the Clinical and Financial Performance of Hospitals (병원의 지적자본이 진료 및 재무 성과에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives : This study applied the research model of Bontis (1998), which has been used to investigate everything from business corporations to hospitals in Korea, examined its generalizability and attempted to verify which factors of the intellectual capital affects organizational performance, represented by indicators for the clinical and financial performance of hospitals. Methods : Primary data for the study were collected from 91 general hospitals through self-administered questionnaires, and secondary data on clinical and financial performance of hospitals were collected form existing statistics. Collected data were analyzed with SPSS 11.5 (ver.) and AMOS 18.0 (ver.). Results : It was found that only human capital and customer capital had indirect effects on hospital performance. It was also revealed that structural capital had a direct effect on clinical performance, and an indirect effect on financial performance. Conclusions : This result means that there is a need to individually consider both the clinical performance and financial performance when measuring the organizational performance of a hospital, and it also shows that positive improvement in the clinical performance can contribute to the improvement of the financial performance through this process.

The Effects of Absorptive Capability and Innovative Culture on Innovation Performance: Evidence from Chinese High-Tech Firms

  • The innovation of enterprises allowed firms to promote technological innovation as an important choice to improve sustainable competitiveness. This study aims to investigate the relationship between absorptive capacity and innovation performance of Chinese high-tech enterprises and focuses on the mediating role of innovation culture in high-tech enterprises. Data came from surveying high-tech enterprises in China, and the reliability analysis, factor analysis, and correlation analysis, path analysis (SEM) were analyzed using SPSS23, AMOS. The results show that intellectual capital composed of human capital, structural capital, and relational has a significant impact on acquisition performance; intellectual capital is composed of human capital; structural capital has a significant influence on innovation performance; and absorptive capital has a significant impact on innovation performance. In addition, innovative culture plays a partial mediating role between absorptive capacity and innovation performance. The findings of this study suggest that, to ensure the better absorption and operation of knowledge, high-tech enterprises can accumulate more knowledge, promote the transformation of knowledge into technology, and strengthen the capability of knowledge absorptive capacity, and at the same time, create an innovation culture atmosphere and encourage employees to develop new products to achieve enterprise goals in order to promote the improvement of innovation performance.

A Structural Model of Baby Boomers' Capital Dynamics and Quality of Life: Moderated by Birth Cohort (베이비부머의 자본역동과 삶의 질의 구조모형: 출생코호트의 조절효과)

  • This study examined diverse capital dynamics and the effect of the dynamics on the quality of life of Korean baby boomers living in Jeonju. Also this study investigated the moderating effect of birth cohort. A structural equation modeling conducted with 303 baby boomers for verification. The results are as follows: First, the human capital of baby boomer directly or indirectly affected psychological, economic, social capital, and quality of life. Second, economic capital directly or indirectly affected psychological, social capital, and quality of life. Third, psychological capital directly or indirectly affected social capital and quality of life. Fourth, social capital affected the quality of life. Fifth, the birth cohort moderated the impacts of economic capital on psychological capital and quality of life. The results provided an understanding of the quality of life of baby boomer and the direction of intervention.

Structural Relationship between Intellectual Capital and Organizational Performance in a Customer Service Organization: Focused on the Role of Dynamic Capability (고객서비스 조직의 지적자본과 조직성과 간의 구조적 관계: 동적역량의 역할을 중심으로)

  • This study explores which organizational capital is important for the customer service center and how the organizational capital is linked to organization's performance through dynamic capability. In this study, total of 389 employees in customer service centers were surveyed for the analysis. The results indicate that relational capital and organizational culture were positively linked with collaborative behavior, capital share, and capital transformation. Also, structural capital was a significant factor in collaborative behavior. Organizational performance was positively affecting collaborative behavior and capital share. This study provides a practical guideline on how to manage organizational capital and supplement shortcomings for managers and counsellors at the customer service centers. Furthermore, the implications for the reinforcement and development of organizational capital were suggested in building a customer service center as a strategic and fundamental part of the company.

The Influence of Corporate Social Responsibility on Business Performance: Evidence from Agricultural Enterprises in China

  • The aim of this research is to examine the structural linkages between social responsibility, social capital, competitive advantages, and agricultural enterprise performance in China. This research focused on the role of social capital and competitive advantages in mediating the relationship between CSR and corporate performance. 492 employees from agricultural firms in Xinjiang, China, took part in the study. Confirmatory factor analysis and exploratory factor analysis were used to assess the measurement scales' reliability and validity. The associations between these four variables were investigated using structural equation modeling, and the mediating impact was tested using the Bootstrap method. Corporate social responsibility, social capital, and competitive advantage are all positively related to business performance, according to the findings. According to the results of the mediating effect test social capital and competitive advantage partially mediated the relationship between corporate social responsibility and business success. Unlike earlier research, this study focused on the impact of social responsibility on agricultural enterprise performance in impoverished rural areas. The findings of this study, in particular, benefit agricultural company management by revealing the role of social capital and competitive advantage in mediating the relationship between corporate social responsibility and business performance.
