A theoretical model for flexural behavior of strengthened reinforced concrete beam is developed based on displacement controlled nonlinear finite element method in this study. The developed model is shown to reasonably reproducing the experimental results of variously strengthened reinforced concrete beam. Parametric studies for the strengthened reinforced concrete beam at different loading stages are then performed using this model in order to assess the effect of loading stages at the time of strengthening on characteristic values of strengthened beam under flexure. It was found that depending on loading stages of a beam, deflections at yielding and at ultimate loads are more influenced than corresponding load capacities.

Reinforced concrete beams with insufficient shear reinforcement were strengthened using glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) plates. In the study, the effect of the number of bolts on the load capacity, energy dissipation, and stiffness of reinforced concrete beams were investigated by using anchor bolt of different numbers. Three strengthened with GFRP specimens, one flexural reference specimen designed in accordance to Regulation on Buildings Constructed in Disaster Areas rules, and one shear reinforcement insufficient reference specimen was tested. Anchorage was made on the surfaces of the beams in strengthened specimens using 2, 3 and 4 bolts respectively. All beams were tested under monotonic loads. Results obtained from the tests of strengthened concrete beams were compared with the result of good flexural reference specimen. The beam in which 4 bolts were used in adhering GFRP plates on beam surfaces carried approximately equal loads with the beam named as a flexural reference. The amount of energy dissipated by strengthened DE5 specimen was 96 % of the amount of energy dissipated by DE1 reference specimen. Strengthened DE5 specimen initial stiffness equal to DE1 reference specimen initial stiffness, but strengthened DE5 specimen yield stiffness about 4 % lower than DE1 reference specimen yield stiffness. Also, DE5 specimen exhibited ductile behavior and was fractured due to bending fracture. Upon the increase of the number of anchorages used in a strengthening collapsing manner of test specimens changed and load capacity and ductility thereof increased.

The concrete bridge deck is quitely required to be replaced or strengthened due to decreasing load carrying capacity. In this study, to increase load capacity of the reinforced concrete slab, bridge deck is reinforced with the glass fiber sheets. they are examined on the strengthen effect and the static behavior, This paper considers relation of load-displacement and strain-distance. The static behavior of the slab strengthened is represented to maximum load. Owing to that, they are examined on increasing load carrying capacity of reinforced bridge deck and strengthen effect about on the crack.

In this paper, the results of an experimental study were presented by measuring and comparing the flexural strength and deformation on the carbon fiber sheet strength reinforced concrete beam considering end anchorage effect. For this purpose, total six specimens of 100×100×600mm size were prepared and tested according to the KDS 14 20 20. The specimens were categorized in three cases as reference beams without strengthening, beams carbon fiber strengthened but not anchored and beams carbon fiber strengthened also anchored. Experimental results showed that the end anchorage contributed to increase the flexural strength about 42% greater than that of carbon fiber sheets alone, and the number and width of cracks were relatively increased. The results support a considerable effects of end anchorage for carbon fiber strengthened reinforced concrete beams in enhancing the flexural performance. Further studies are needed in durability and long term behavior of carbon fiber sheet strengthened reinforced concrete beams.

In this study, strengthening effect of the deteriorated reinforced concrete T type bridge with epoxy-bonded glass fiber reinforced plates(GFRP) is experimentally investigated. This test make a comparison between before strengthened and after strengthened with GFRP structural behavior experimentally in the field. the results generally indicate that the flexural strength of strengthened RC T-type bridge is increased.

This study was performed FEM analysis of RC beams strengthened with CPS, in order to verify the effect strengthened of the loading situation. By load-deflection curve, It was not different that max capacity of RF2-L0 strengthened with CFS on the sound and RF2-L60 strengthened with on the 60% loading situation of service load. When RC beam was shortly strengthened with CFS, bond element of beam on the end was ripped off. Because stress was concentrated on bond element of beam on the end.

Experimental study has been performed in order to evaluate the effects of steel reinforcement ratio on the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with CFRP sheets. The steel reinforcement ratio of $0.78%({\rho}_s/{\rho}_b=24%)$ is selected to have balance failure when control RC beams were strengthened with 1 ply CFRP sheet. Total 6 half-scale specimens were manufactured including each unstrengthened specimens, which have 3 different reinforcement ratios. The specimens strengthened with CFRP sheet consist of under- or over-reinforced beams for the balanced failure condition. Moreover, the behavior of un strengthened or strengthened beams were compared to evaluate flexural performance. The results of this study show that the over-reinforced specimens were failed by concrete crushing prior to CFRP sheet failure by debonding or rupture. On the contrary, the under-reinforced specimen were failed by rupture of CFRP sheet.
The purpose of this study is to develop an analytic model of the concrete column strengthened with laminated CFS, and to provide a basic guideline for the strengthening design by CFS considering orthotropic properties of laminate. In this study, an analytical stress-strain model of laminated CFS is presented based on Tsai-Hill failure criterion. This model has been implemented in an algorithm which can evaluate the confinement effect of CFS. Through this algorithm, the stress-strain relationship of confined concrete is obtained and compared with experimental results of other studies. Using the constitutive relationships, section analyses of concrete column strengthened with CFS are done, and load-moment and load-curvature interaction curves are obtained. In addition, the strengthening effects of CFS according to various laminated angles are analyzed. Analytical results show that the strengthening effects of the strengthened concrete columns are significantly different in compression, flexure, and ductility according to the laminated ways. In compressive direction of principal stress shows the superiority, where an in flexural strengthening effects, [0/90]s does. In the aspect of ductility, [90]s shows the best effect.

Two strengthened columns and an unstrengthened control column were tested to failure under cyclic lateral load combined with a constant axial load to effect of anchorage of T-shaped steel plate in the strengthened column using wire rope units. Main variables considered were anchorage method of T-shaped steel plate. Tested columns were compared with those of conventionally tied columns tested by research of before. Test results showed that lateral load capacity and the displacement ductility ratio of anchorage of T-shaped steel plate in the strengthened column increased 40% and 130% than unstrengthened column, respectively. In particular, at the same effective lateral reinforcement index, a much ductility ratio was observed in the strengthened columns than in the tied columns.
This paper aims at investigating the capability of different FRP/concrete interface models to predict the effect of carbon nanotubes on the flexural behavior of RC beams strengthened with CFRP. Three different interfacial bond models are proposed to simulate the adhesion between CFRP composites and concrete, namely: full bond, nonlinear spring element, and cohesive zone model. 3D Nonlinear finite element model is developed then validated using experimental work conducted by the authors in a previous investigation. Cohesive zone model (CZM) has the best agreement with the experimental results in terms of load-deflection response. CZM is the only bond model that accurately predicted the cracks patterns and failure mode of the strengthened RC beams. The FE model is then expanded to predict the effect of bond strength on the flexural capacity of RC beams strengthened with externally bonded CNTs modified CFRP composites using CZM bond model. The results reveal that the flexural capacity of the strengthened beams increases with increasing the bond strength value. However, only 23% and 22% of the CFRP stress and strain capacity; in the case of full bond; can be utilized before failure.
