The present work deals with an investigation on longitudinal wave propagation in nanobeams made of graphene sheets, for the first time. The nanobeam is modelled via a higher-order shear deformation theory accounts for both higher-order and thickness stretching terms. The general nonlocal strain gradient theory including nonlocality and strain gradient characteristics of size-dependency in order is used to examine the small-scale effects. This model has three-small scale coefficients in which two of them are for nonlocality and one of them applied for gradient effects. Hamilton supposition is applied to obtain the governing motion equation which is solved using a harmonic solution procedure. It is indicated that the longitudinal wave characteristics of the nanobeams are significantly influenced by the nonlocal parameters and strain gradient parameter. It is shown that higher nonlocal parameter is more efficient than lower nonlocal parameter to change longitudinal phase velocities, while the strain gradient parameter is the determining factor for their efficiency on the results.

The potential of five entomopathogenic nematodes, Steinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain, S. logicaudum Nonsan strain, S. glaseri Dongrae strain, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Hamnyang strain, and Heterorabditis sp. Gyeongsan strain were evaluated as biological control agents against a mushroom fly, Mycophila speyeri in the mushroom, Pleurotus ostreatus cultivation house. Control effect of M. speyeri was significantly different according to nematode species. Heterorhabditis was more effective than Steinernema. H. bacteriophora Hamnyang strain showed the highest control effect representing $49.0\%$ (7 days), $89.5\%$ (14 days) and $89.1\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1\times10^6$ and $46.5\%$ (7 days), $76.6\%$ (14 days) and $85.4\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1.0\times10^5$ Ijs/$1.5 m^2$ in Changnyoung, Gyeongnam, respectively. In Jinju, Gyeongnam, control effects of the sa me species were $54.0\%$ (7 days), $74.5\%$ (14 days), and $79.8\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1\times10^6$ and $49.0\%$ (7 days), $76.6\%$ (14 days), and $61.1\%$ (21 days post-treatment) at the rate of $1.0\times10^5$ Ijs/$1.5 m^2$, respectively.

The armyworm, Pseudaletia separata was occurred suddenly in a golf club in Namhae, Gyeongnam province in 2013. Thus, pathogenicity of seven species of entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema carpocapsae GSN1 strain, S. glaseri Dongrae strain, S. longicaudum Nonsan strain, S. monticolum Jiri strain and S. siamkayai, Heterorhabditis sp. Gyeongsan strain, and H. bacteriophora Hamyang strain) was evaluated against armyworm on tall fescue in pot and golf course to control this pest environmentally friendly. The pathogenicity against P. separata larvae was significantly different depending on nematode species. The corrected mortality of fifth instar of P. separata was 100% in the treatment with S. carpocapsae GSN1 in 7 days in tall fescue pot. However, there was not different in the mortality of fifth instar of P. separata (80 to 100%) at the rate of 385 to 6,160 infective juveniles (Ijs) ($=2.5{\times}10^2$ to $4{\times}10^5Ijs/m^2$) of S. carpocapsae GSN1 strain in each pot. Corrected mortality of P. separata was 65 and 60% at the rate of $10^5Ijs/m^2$ of S. carpocapsae GSN1 and S. longicaudum Nonsan strain, respectively in the tall fescue of golf course.

This paper describes the development of a precision 3-component load cell with plate beams which may be used for measuring forces Fx, Fy and moment Mz simultaneously in industry. The equations to predict the bending strains on the surface of the beams under forces or moment are derived, the attachment location of strain gages of each sensor is determined, and 3-component load cell is carried out. It reveals that the rated strain calculated from the derived equations are good agreement with the results from Finite Element Method analysis.
Steinemematid and heterorhabditid nematodes were not effective to control the piU bug, Armadillidium vulgare although these nematodes were able to infect pill bugs. Steinernema carpocapsae Pocheon strain and S. glaseri Dongrae strain were more effective than S. carpocapsae AU strain or Heterorhabditis bacteriophora. Nematode concentration was more important factor than host density to develop infectivity.

The control of resistance of foil strain gauge is accomplished by means of etching technique. Thus, there is an irregularity in metal foil. In order to solve this problem, ion sputter machining method has been used to make strain gauge in this study and the characteristics of this strain gauge are investigated. As the result of this study, it was possible to make a flexible strain gauge which can be used to measure the stress. The strain gauge made by authors shows superior characteristics in creep, O point variance, hysteresis and nonlinearity by surrounding temperature.
The chitinase-producing bacterial strain C-1 is one of the key chitinase-producing biocontrol agents used for effective bioformulations for biological control. These bioformulations are mixed cultures of various chitinolytic bacteria. However, the precise identification, biocontrol activity, and the underlying mechanisms of the strain C-1 have not been investigated so far. Therefore, we evaluated in planta biocontrol efficacies of C-1 and determined the draft genome sequence of the strain in this study. The bacterial C-1 strain was identified as a novel Serratia sp. by a phylogenic analysis of its 16S rRNA sequence. The Serratia sp. C-1 bacterial cultures showed strong in planta biocontrol efficacies against some major phytopathogenic fungal diseases. The draft genome sequence of Serratia sp. C-1 indicated that the C-1 strain is a novel strain harboring a subset of genes that may be involved in its biocontrol activities.
1) In order to obtain a microbial strain having a strong yeast cell wall lytic activity, about 156 isolates capable of forming clear zones on baker's yeast-peptone-bouillon agar plate were obtained from soil, mud and water samples and a strain K-42 with the highest lytic activity was identified as Bacillus circulans. 2) Effect of carbon sources on the lytic enzyme production by the K-42 strain was in the decreasing order of maltose>glucan>xylose>control in 2-day culture and of lactose>galactose>glucan>control in 3-day culture. Effect of inorganic nitrogen sources was in the decreasing order of ammonium acetate>sodium nitrate>control in 2-day culture and of ammonium chloride>ammonium oxalate>control in 3-day culture, whereas organic nitrogen sources except milk casein showed an increase in 2-day culture and a decrease in 3-day culture. Synergistic effect of carbon sources and nitrogen sources was not observed. 3) The enzyme production by the K-42 strain was greatly affected by pH change of the culture medium, thus a high lytic activity could be maintained by keeping the pH range of $7{\sim}8$ and adding carbon or nitrogen sources. 4) Optimum conditions for the lytic activity of the K-42 strain were obtained at $pH\;7{\sim}8$ and $60^{\circ}C$ and the extent of hydrolysis toward heated yeast cell wall was 65%.
The visualizing energy flow and control in vibrating stiffened plates with a cutout are studied using finite element method. The vibration intensity, vibration energy and strain energy distribution of stiffened plates with cutout at different excitation frequencies are calculated respectively and visualized for the various cases. The cases of different size and boundaries conditions of cutouts are also investigated. It is found that the cutout or opening completely changes the paths and distributions of the energy flow in stiffened plate. The magnitude of energy flow is significantly larger at the edges near the cutout boundary. The position of maximum strain energy distribution is not corresponding to the position of maximum vibrational energy. Furthermore, the energy-based control using constrained damping layer (CDL) for vibration suppression is also analyzed. According to the energy distribution maps, the CDL patches are applied to the locations that have higher energy distribution at the targeted mode of vibration. The energy-based CDL treatments have produced significant attenuation of the vibration energy and strain energy. The present energy visualization technique and energy-based CDL treatments can be extended to the vibration control of vehicles structures.
Although several adverse effects have been increased in recent years, synthetic agro-chemicals have been widely used to control diseases on paprika. This research was conducted to isolate and to characterize the antagonistic microorganism to control major paprika diseases, gray mold rot, fruit and stem rot, phytophthora blight, sclerotium rot, and wilt disease. Analysis of the fatty acid and analysis of the 16S rDNA gene sequence revealed that YKJ2 isolated in this research belongs to a group of Burkholderia cepacia. Specially, 16S rDNA gene sequence of YKJ2 showed 99% of sequence similarity with B. cepacia. Observation through the optical microscope revealed that YKJ2 was effective on suppression of the spore germination and the hyphal growth of pathogens. YKJ2 treatment on pathogens induced marked morphological changes like hyphal swelling and degradation of cell wall. In the case of phytophthora blight, the zoosporangium formation was restrained. On the basis of the results of this study, we propose that an antagonistic microorganism, B. cepacia, found in this study naming as "B. cepacia strain YKJ2" and has great potential as one of biological control agents against major diseases of paprika.
