  • Let $X_1$, $X_2$, ${\cdots}$, $X_n$ be independent and identically distributed random variables having common exponential density with unknown mean ${\mu}$. In the sequential confidence interval estimation for the exponential hazard rate ${\theta}=1/{\mu}$, when the loss function is strictly convex, the following stopping rule is proposed with the half length d of prescribed confidence interval $I_n$ for the parameter ${\theta}$; ${\tau}$ = smallest integer n such that $n{\geq}z^2_{{\alpha}/2}\hat{\theta}^2/d^2+2$, where $\hat{\theta}=(n-1)\bar{X}{_n}^{-1}/n$ is the minimum risk estimator for ${\theta}$ and $z_{{\alpha}/2}$ is defined by $P({\mid}Z{\mid}{\leq}{\alpha}/2)=1-{\alpha}({\alpha}{\in}(0,1))$ Z ~ N(0, 1). For the confidence intervals $I_n$ which is required to satisfy $P({\theta}{\in}I_n){\geq}1-{\alpha}$. These estimated intervals $I_{\tau}$ have the asymptotic consistency of the sequential procedure; $$\lim_{d{\rightarrow}0}P({\theta}{\in}I_{\tau})=1-{\alpha}$$, where ${\alpha}{\in}(0,1)$ is given.

  • The ann of this study is 10 propose all eff'tcient mclhod for partition of multi-dimensIOnal feature space into pattern subspace for automated generation of fuzzy rule. The suggested mclhod predicates on sequential subdivision of the fuzzy subspacc. and the size of construc1cd pattern space is variable. Under this procedure, n-dimensional pattern space, after considering the distributional characteristic patterns, is partitioned into two different pattern subspaces. From the two subspaces, the pattern space for further subdivision is chosen; then, this subdivision procedure recursively repeats itself until the stopping condition is fulfilled. The result of this study is applied to 2, 4, 7 band of satellite Landsat TM and satisfac10ry result is acquired.

  • The crucial problems of K-means clustering are deciding the number of clusters and initial centroids of clusters. Hence, the steps of K-means clustering are generally consisted of two-stage clustering procedure. The first stage is to run hierarchical clusters to obtain the number of clusters and cluster centroids and second stage is to run nonhierarchical K-means clustering using the results of first stage. Here we provide automated K-means clustering procedure to be useful to obtain initial centroids of clusters which can also be useful for large data sets, and provide software program implemented using R.

  • Long-term care insurance is a social insurance system that provides benefits to the elderly who have difficulty taking care of themselves for a period of at least 6 months. This system was started in July, 2008 and it is very important to set proper judgement ratings for the approval process. We try to develop and improve the judgement rating system using decision tree models. Our tree model is found to be more stable and efficient than the previous one.

  • This paper proposes a novel planning method for computer generated forces (CGFs) in war games that plans the behaviors of CGFs according to a given mission and situations. CGFs which are received their missions first plan their tasks for accomplishing the mission and then plan their behaviors for accomplishing each task. After that, they execute their planned behaviors considering the conditions of environments (in other words situations). The tasks and behaviors are hierarchically composed and include start conditions for beginning those and termination conditions for stopping those. CGFs first check whether the start condition of the planned behavior for accomplishing a task is satisfied or not in some degree and perform the behavior if satisfied continuously until the termination condition of the behavior will be met. If the termination condition is satisfied, then they check the start condition of the next planned behavior. This process will be repeated for accomplishing the mission. If the situations of CGFs are different by changing the environments from those of planning time, it may cause the start condition of the planned behavior to be dissatisfied. In this case, CGFs can decide a new behavior using fuzzy rule base. We realized our planning system and tested CGFs with a scenario. Experimental results showed that our system worked well and actively coped with situation changes. It will be possible to make CGFs that can do more autonomous behaviors if we continually develop our method.

  • Hemophilia B is hereditary disorder of blood coagulation known as a deficiency of P.T.C. or Christmas factor. Anyway it's indistinguishable clinically with hemophia A and C. Here's one of most interesting problems gave us because we could only find it out as a hemophilia B. when we stood a situation to be met continuous bleeding from the operative wound of tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy. Wintrobe proposed that easy bruising, difficulty in stopping the bleeding from razor cuts, and prolonged bleeding after tonsillectomy or tooth extraction usually are the major manifestations. For a long time little attention was paid to reports of a milder form of the diseases. In such cases coagulation time, and even prothrombin consumption were normal and the symptoms were correspondinly mild, small wounds as a rule giving little trouble and hemoarthrosis being uncommon. In our cases, there's no specific contributory history except nasal bleeding intermittently and also no specific contributory laboratory data before the operation. After the T. & A., there's continuous bleeding from nasopharynx and the coagulas on the both tonsilar fossas being grown day by day. Therefore we suspected some abnormality of coagulation mechanism and then we could get conclusion of hemophilia B. after various laboratory tests including T.G.T., As I know, this case, hemophilia B. is 3rd one as a report in Korea. We have no data of hemophilia family at present time, so that I propose that we have to make system of hemophilia family in Korea. In a next, we have to make routinely complete laboratory test, ego routine C.B.C., bleeding time, coagulation time, prothrombine time, partial thromboplastine time, before operation of T.& A. If we can solve these problems we can get the T. & A. without any problems of bleeding according to get the operation of T. & A.

  • The authors developed 28 needs assessment tools for integrated assessment centered on needs, which is the core element in care management for the elderly in home. Also, the authors collected the assessment data of 676 elderly persons in home from 120 centers under the Korea Association of Senior Welfare Centers by using the needs assessment tools, and finally developed needs extraction algorithm through decision tree analysis in data mining to identify their actual needs and provide social welfare service suitable for such needs. The needs extraction algorithm for 28 needs of the elderly in home are summarized in

. The Need No. 8 "Having need of help in going out" of the decision-making model, for example, was divided into 80.3% of asking for help and 11.4% not asking for help with Appeal No. 23 as a major variable. The need increased by 87.9% when the elderly appealed for help to go out and they had a caregiver but decreased by 47.4% when they had no caregiver. When the elderly asked for help in going out, they had a caregiver, and they needed complete help in cleaning, their need of help in going out was shown as 94.2%. However, seen from their answer that they needed complete help in bathing of ADL even if they did not ask for help in going out, it was found that the need of help in going out sharply increased from 11.4% to 80.0%. On the other hand, when they needed partial help or self-supported in bathing, the potential for them to be classified as asking for help in going out was shown to be low as 7.7%. In the said decision-making model, the number of cases for parent node and child node was designated as 50 and 25, respectively, with level 5 of the maximum tree depth as stopping rule. By this, it was shown that their decision-making was found to be effective as 182.13% for the need "Having need of help in going out". The algorithm presented in this study can be useful as systematic and scientific fundamental data in assessment of needs of the elderly in home.
