The calcium hydroxide($Ca(OH)_{2}$) which is flowed into the deteriorated tunnel by groundwater is reacted with carbon dioxide($CO_{2}$) and the vehicle's exhaust gas ($SO_{3}$). So its by-products are precipitated at the drainage pipe and these cause the drainage clogging. Most by-products are composed of $CaCO_{3}$ with calcite from a chemical experiment. The purpose of this study is mainly focused on comparison of attachment on each material of drainage pipe (teflon-coated steel pipe, silicon-Oil coated pipe, acrylic pipe and PVC pipe). The test was progressed to disembogue the CaO aqueous solution and tunnel outflow into each of the pipes. The experimental results show that the most produced scale pipe is PVC material and the followings are Acrylic pipe, Silicon-Oil coating pipe and Teflon coating pipe. But the long-term test results showed that teflon-coated steel pipe had a problem with durability because soil which was contained in the tunnel outflow occurred detachment of coating and corrosion of the steel pipe.
To find the structural characteristics of non-slip device in connecting method B between steel pipe pile and concrete footing, compression and uplift test was performed for full sized specimens not having non-slip device, those having non-slip device with two curved steel plate bars welded inside the steel pipe pile(standard method), and those having non-slip device with serveral curved steel plate bars bolted inside the steel pipe pile(new method). As a result, specimens not having non-slip device had chemical debonding failure at 15.6tonf of peak uplift load and 27.57tonf of peak compression load. And the standard method and the new method showed about 8.9 times of peak uplift load and 6.2 times of peak compression load higher than specimens not having non-slip device. The load transfers of lower non-slip devices of the standard method and the new method were similar in behavior, while the higher non-slip device of the new method showed higher ratio of load transfer than that of the standard method. And these two methods had nearly the same composite action and structural capacity caused by non-slip devices.

Recently, as steel structures become higher and more long-spanned, application of high-strength steels is increasing gradually. For seismic design of steel structures using high-strength steels(POSTEN60, POSTEN80), analytical method, can describe the large deformation and inelastic cyclic behavior generated by non-proportional cyclic loading, are required. In this paper, cyclic plasticity model was proposed by results of monotonic loading tests ant cyclic loading tests. Three-dimensional finite element analysis is developed by using proposed model and finite deformation theory and verified as compare with experiment result. Using 3-dimensional elastic-plastic finite deformation analysis, seismic analysis of high-strength steel pipe-section piers are carried out. Also, seismic performance of high-strength steel pipe-section piers in parameter of diameter-thickness ratio was clarified.

This research aims to improve the efficiency of production by selecting production configuration with high yield rate and lower error rate based on production history of steel pipe. To achieve this, we identify the properties of various types of MTO(make-to-order) steel pipe products and determine properties affecting yield rate and error rate using decision tree technique. From experimental results, we find out that specification is critical to determine yield rate and error rate of ERW steel pipes with mostly small and medium caliber, and an external diameter range in case of roll benders or spiral steel pipes with mostly large caliber. This research classified and embodied the patterns of yield rate and error rate mathematically by product properties.

Induction bending is a method that allows the bending of any material that conducts electricity. This technology applies a bending force to a material that has been locally heated by an eddy current induced by a fluctuating electromagnetic field. Induction bending uses an inductor to locally heat steel through induction. This results in a narrow heat band in the shape to be bent. In general, the reduction of thickness attenuation of a large-diameter steel pipe is not allowed to exceed 12.5%. In this paper, in order to meet the standard of thickness attenuation reduction, a non-uniform heating temperature jump-bending process was investigated. As a result, the developed bending technique meets the requirements of thickness attenuation reduction for large-diameter steel pipes.
SBD (Strain-based design) of pipe lines have gained world-wide attention in recent years. The present research aims to evaluate the fracture characteristics of API (America Petroleum Institute) SBD X100 girth weldment that typically applied for cold climate and deep water offshore, with the focus on the influence of heat input changing with 6kJ/cm and 10kJ/cm from GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding). At a low heat input at 6kJ/cm, the weld metal had Multi-phase matrix (Acicular ferrite + Banite + Martensite) that could fill up both fracture toughness and strength as reported previously. Also, the weld metal exhibited 859MPa YS (Yield strength), 108J impact toughness at $-40^{\circ}C$ and 0.52mm CTOD (Crack Tip Open Displacement) at $-10^{\circ}C$. These results can be satisfied with the requirement of API SBD X100 girth weldment and Alaska pipe line project.
The objective of this research is to estimate the crack location and size of a carbon steel pipe by using a laser ultrasound guided wave for the wall thinning evaluation of an elbow. The wall thinning of the carbon steel pipe is one of the most serious problems in nuclear power plants, especially the wall thinning of the carbon steel elbow caused by Flow-Accelerated Corrosion (FAC). Therefore, a non-destructive inspection method of elbow is essential for the nuclear power plants to operate safely. The specimens used in this study were carbon steel elbows, which represented the main elements of real nuclear power plants. The shape of the wall thinning was an oval with a width of 120mm, a length of 80mm, and a depth of 5mm. The L(0,1) and L(0,2) modes variation of the ultrasound guided wave signal is obtained from the response of the laser generation/air-coupled detection ultrasonic hybrid system represent the characteristics of the defect. The trends of these characteristics and signal processing were used to estimate the size and location of wall thinning.

The corrosion rate of buried steel pipes for water works was investigated under soil environment. Steel pipe shows various characteristics caused by complicated environment condition of underground and especially the corrosion rate of it depends on the resistivity of soil controlled by content of water. In this paper, the corrosion behavior of steel pipe was observed by polarization test under soil and the silica sand in the water content range of 0-50%. Generally it is well known that the resistivity of soil decreased rapidly over 15% water content. In fact the corrosion rate, corrosion potential, and corrosion consumption (MPY) of steel pipe were shown very different aspects within 20% water content.

For a marine bridge foundation construction, a large-circular-steel-pipe has been proposed for supporting vertical load and preventing water infiltration. However, a ship collision can adversely affect the structural stability. This paper presents a fundamental study on dynamic responses of the large-circular-steel-pipe by an impact load. In laboratory experiments, small-scaled steel pipe is installed in a soil tank. The soil height and water level are set to 23 cm and 25~70 cm, respectively. The upper part of the steel pipe is impacted using a hammer to simulate the ship collision. The dynamic responses are measured using accelerometers and strain gauges. Experimental results show that the strain decreases as the measured location is lowered. The higher frequency components appear in the impact load condition compared to the microtremor condition. However, the higher frequency components measured at the strain gauge located below the water level do not appear. For the accelerometer signal, the maximum frequency under the impact load is higher than that of the microtremor. The maximum frequency decreases as water level increases but it is larger than the maximum frequency of the microtremor. This study shows that strain gauge and accelerometer can be useful for evaluating the dynamic responses of large-circular-steel-pipes.
