The aim of this study is to find out the condition that generates maximum $H_2$ through the calculation of equilibrium model with conditions of pyrolysis gases of Refuse Plastic Fuel(RPF). This study deals with the computational simulation of a RPF gasification using an equilibrium model based on minimization of the Gibbs free energy. An equilibrium analysis was carried out to determine species composition of Syngas in RPF gasification and reactions to variation of temperature, $O_2/Fuel$ ratio and Steam/Fuel ratio. Calculated results shows that hydrocarbons in pyrolyzed gas are converted to synthesis gas which is formed on hydrogen and carbon monoxide.

Thermodynamic performance analysis has been carried out for a hybrid electric power generation system combining a gas turbine and a solid oxide fuel cell and operating at over-atmospheric pressure. Performance characteristics with respect to main design parameters such as maximum temperature and pressure ratio are examined in detail. Effects of other important design parameters are investigated including fuel cell internal parameters such as fuel utilization factor, steam/carbon ratio and current density, and system parameters such as recuperator efficiency and compressor inlet temperature.
Activated carbon fibers were prepared from stabilized PAN fibers by physical and chemical activation to compare their characteristics. In this study, stabilized PAN fibers were activated by physical activation with steam and CO$_2$, and by chemical activation with KOH. The fabricated activated carbon fibers were evaluated and compared such as specific surface area, pore size distribution, pore volume, and amount of iodine adsorption. In the steam activation, a specific surface area of 1635 m$^2$/g was obtained after heat treatment at 990$^{\circ}C$. Otherwise, in the CO$_2$ activation, produced activated carbon fibers had been a specific surface area of 671 m$^2$/g after heat treatment at 990$^{\circ}C$. In chemical activation using KOH, a specific surface area of 3179 m$^2$/g was obtained with a KOH/ stabilized PAN fiber ratio of 1.5 : 1 at 900$^{\circ}C$. Nitrogen adsorption isotherms for fabricated activated carbon fibers showed type I and transformation from type I and II in the Brunauer-Deming-Deming-Teller (B.D.D.T) classification. Increasing specific surface area Increased the amount of iodine adsorption in both activation methods. Because the ionic radius of iodine was smaller than the interior micropore size of activated carbon fibers.
The nitrogen plasma thermal decomposition and recovery processes for $CHClF_2$ (Chlorodifluoromethane) refringent were investigated. The steam generator was employed to provide superheated steam reactor, supporting the decomposition reaction of refringent. Even though over 94% of R-22 was decomposed on the condition of 60 A and 9.0 kW, a higher power and specific energy density were required to achieve the complete combustion of carbon materials. In the operating condition of 60 A and 12.6 kW, $O_2$/R-22 ratio in reactants gases are a key factor to obtain much higher decomposition ratio during process. It should be noticed that injecting the mixture of $O_2$ and air was much more effective than injecting the air consisting equivalent $O_2$ amount.

Most of the reformer experiments have been conducted only in high-temperature operation conditions above 700℃. However, to design high efficiency solid oxide fuel cell, it is necessary to test actual reaction performance in mid-temperature (550℃) operation areas. In order to study the operation characteristics and performance of commercial reforming catalysts, a reforming performance experiment was conducted on mid-temperature. The catalysts used in this study are Ni-based FCR-4 and Ru-based RuA, RuAL. Experiments were conducted with a Steam-to-carbon ratio of 2.0 to 3.0 under gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) 2,000 to 5,000 hr-1. As a result, RuA and RuAL catalysts showed similar gas composition to the equilibrium regardless of the reforming temperature. However, the FCR-4 catalyst showed a lower hydrogen yield compared to the equilibrium under high GHSV conditions.

In this study, the operation characteristics of the internal reforming type molten carbonate fuel cell (MCFC) were studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis according to the steam to carbon ratio (S/C ratio), operating temperature, and gas utilization. From the simulation results, the distribution of gas composition due to the electrochemical reaction and the reforming reaction was predicted. The internal reforming type showed a lower temperature difference than the external reforming type MCFC. As the operating temperature decreased, less hydrogen was produced and the performance of the fuel cell also decreased. As the gas utilization rate decreased, more gas was injected into the same reaction area, and thus the performance of the fuel cell increased.
Cu-Zn and Cu-Zn-Ti catalysts for the steam reforming of methanol were prepared. This reaction was carried out at atmospheric pressure, $250^{\circ}C$, steam/methanol molar ratio 1.5, and contact time 0.1 g-cat.hr/mL-feed. In case of the catalyst with 3 mol% of $TiO_2$, the activity was superior to that of catalysts without $TiO_2$. The reaction products were mainly hydrogen and carbon dioxide. It was found that catalytic activity was not related to specific surface area but affected by metallic copper area which was measured by $N_2O$ decomposition and increased with the addition of $TiO_2$ content. XPS and XRD showed that the oxidation state of zinc was not changed during reaction, but oxidation states of copper existed in Cu(0) or Cu(I).

As the development of alternative energy is required due to the depletion of fossil fuels, interest in the use of hydrogen energy is increasing. Hydrogen is a promising clean energy source with high energy density and can lead to the application of environmentally friendly technologies. However, due to difficulties in production, storage, and transportation that prevent the application of hydrogen-based eco-friendly technology, research on reforming reactions using dimethyl ether (DME) is being conducted. Unlike other hydrocarbons, DME is attracting attention as a hydrogen carrier because it has excellent storage stability and transportability, and there is no C-C bond in the molecule. The reaction between DME and steam is one of the reforming processes with the highest hydrogen yield in theory at a temperature lower than that of other hydrocarbons. In this study, a hydrogen reforming device using DME was developed and a catalyst prepared by supporting Cu in alumina was put into a reactor to find optimal hydrogen production conditions for supplying hydrogen to fuel cells while changing reaction temperature (300-500℃), pressure (5-10 bar), and steam/carbon ratio (3:1 to 5:1).

LFG (Land-Fill Gas) includes components of $CH_4$, $CO_2$, $O_2$, $N_2$, and water. The preparation of synthesis gas from LFG as a DME (Dimethyl Ether) feedstock was studied by methane reforming of $CO_2$, $O_2$ and steam over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Our experiments were performed to investigate the effects of methane conversion and syngas ratio on the amount of LFG components over NiO-MgO-$CeO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst. Results were obtained through the activity reaction experiments at the temperature of $900^{\circ}C$ and GHSV of 4,000. The results were as following; it has generally shown that methane conversion rate increased with the increase of oxygen and carbon dioxide amounts. Highly methane conversion of 92~93% and syngas ratio of approximately 1.0 were obtained in the feed of gas composition flow-rate of 243ml/min of $CH_4$, 241ml/min of $CO_2$, 195ml/min of $O_2$, 48ml/min of $N_2$, and 360ml/min of water, respectively, under reactor pressure of 15 bar for 50 hrs of reaction time. Also, it was shown that catalyst deactivation by coke formation was reduced by excessively adding oxygen and steam as an oxidizer of the methane reforming.

In order to produce high-yield pitch-based activated carbon, pitch was synthesized by blending pyrolysis fuel oil (PFO) and coal-tar. Pitch was synthesized by varying the amount of coal-tar from 0~20% compared to PFO and reacting at 380~420 ℃ for 3 h. The synthesized pitch had a softening point between 80 and 260 ℃, and yields ranged from 10 to 40%. At all synthesis temperatures, as the coal-tar blending ratio increased, the yield increased and the softening point decreased. After considering the selected pitches (softening points: 230~260 ℃), pitches containing coal-tar were more volatile at a low boiling point and had a higher residual carbon content. This is a difference in the composition of coal-tar and PFO, and it was con- firmed that coal-tar has a lot of aromatics and PFO has a lot of aliphatics. The selected pitch was heated to 950 ℃ in a tubular reactor and physically activated with steam for 1 hour. Activated carbon containing coal-tar showed higher yield and microporosity compared to only PFO. In this study, the effect of increasing activated carbon yield by blending pitch raw materials was confirmed, and the physical activation characteristics according to the coal-tar mixing ratio were examined.
