In this study, an application of Finite Element Method which, in principle, based on variational calculus has been presented for the two-dimensional analysis of magnetic flux distribution in the shell type core of single phase transformer. The necessary stationarity condition of energy functional and boundary conditions were determined under the assumptions that the electromagnetic field considered is stationary and that the effect of eddy current is negligible. In the process of application the domain of magnetic field was divided into triangle subsectional elements and then the matrix equations were constructed for the respective triangular element and for those of all after the manipulation of minimization process to the vector potential of magnetic field at the each vertex of the element. Furthermore the numerical computation for the equations was guided by the Gaussian Elimination Methods. As the results obtained, it is found that the aspect of magnetic flux distribution inside the core as well as the leakage flux profile at the vicinity of the inner leg of the core is not much different from the well-known distribution profile of magnetic flux, however, the procedure shows to possess the merit of the uniquely deterministic nature for the flux distribution at the desired points.
Hydroacoustic surveys were conducted for spatio-temporal distribution and size estimation of fish in the Yongdam reservoir, Korea, from April to July 2014. Acoustic data were collected along acoustic transects using a 120 kHz scientific echosounder. The received acoustic data were the in situ acoustic target strength (dB) and nautical area scattering coefficient ($m^2/mile^2$). Data on fish behavioral patterns and size were collected using a DIDSON acoustic camera at stationary stations. Fish were mainly distributed in the center channel and close to the outer Yongdam reservoir. Acoustic density of fish in the summer season were higher than in the spring season. The seasonal vertical distribution pattern of fish aggregations may be strongly related to the vertical temperature structure. The size distribution of fish obtained from an acoustic camera correlated well with the acoustic size of fish from an echosounder.
This study aimed to estimate the future design rainfall through a non-stationary frequency analysis using the rainfall separation technique. First, we classified rainfall in the Korean Peninsula into local downpour and TC-induced rainfall through rainfall separation technique based on the path and size of a typhoon. Furthermore, we performed the analysis of regional rainfall characteristics and trends. In addition, we estimated the future design rainfall through a non-stationary frequency analysis using Gumbel distribution and carried out its quantitative comparison and evaluation. The results of the analysis suggest that the increase and decrease rate of rainfall in the Korean Peninsula were different and the increasing and decreasing tendencies were mutually contradictory at some points. In addition, a non-stationary frequency analysis was carried out by using the rainfall separation technique. The outcome of this analysis suggests that a relatively reasonable future design rainfall can be estimated. Comparing total rainfall with the future design rainfall, differences were found in the southern and eastern regions of the Korean peninsula. This means that climate change may have a different effect on the typhoon and local downpour. Thus, in the future, individual assessment of climate change impacts needs to be done through moisture separation. The results presented here are applicable in future hydraulic structures design, flood control measures related to climate change, and policy establishment.

Aeronautical lights, which are internationally standardized sequence of colors and placements, are aeronautic safety devices that provide visual information to pilots by continuously adjusting their light intensity to appropriate level. In this paper, we consider the development testing for in pavement LED aeronautical light system such as taxiway centerline, stop line and temporary stop line. The test results of LED sourced lights have shown a drastic improvement in power consumption levels and cost efficiency compared to their halogen sourced counterparts The LED light used only 42.7% as much power as their halogen sourced counterparts. Taking installation costs into account, LED will cost only 58% of its halogen counterparts. These results suggest that developing the LED sourced aeronautical light would result in globally competitive products thar guarantees satisfaction to their consumers, and that both cost effective and energy efficient.
Activated carbons were prepared from pine bark by steam activation, and pore structures and specific surface areas were then investigated. Three different types of kilns were used for the activation. When the stationary-vertical-or stationary-horizontal-type kiln was used for the steam activation to prepare an activated carbon from the bark, it was not possible to produce activated carbon having high specific surface areas exceeding 1,000 $m^2/g$. Using bark powder improved the specific surface area, but it was still not high enough. When the rotary-horizontal-type kiln was used for the activation, the activated carbons prepared had high specific surface areas of more than 1,000$m^2/g$, which was similar to a commercial first-grade activated carbon. The activated carbon prepared by the rotary kiln had a wide distribution of pore size ranging from microporous to mesoporous.

The effect of mold rotation on the transport process and resultant macrosegregation pattern during solidification of an Al-Cu alloy contained in a vertical axisymmetric annular mold cooled from the inner wall is numerically investigated. The mold initially at rest starts to rotate at a prescribed angular velocity simultaneously with the beginning of cooling. Computed results for a representative case show that the mold rotation essentially suppresses the development of both thermal and solutal convections in the melt, creating distinct characteristics such as the liquidus front, flow pattern and temperature distribution from those for the stationary mold. Thermal convection which develops at the early stages of cooling is soon extinguished by the rotating flow induced during spin-up, and thus does not effectively remove the initial superheat from the melt. On the other hand, solutal convection, though it weakens considerably and is confined within the mushy zone, still predominates over the solute redistribution process. With increasing the angular velocity, the solute transport in the axial direction is enhanced, whereas that in the radial direction is reduced. The final macrosegregation formed in the mold rotating at moderate angular velocities appears to be favorable in comparison with the stationary casting, in that not only relatively homogenized composition is achieved, but also a severely positive-segregated channel is restrained.

In financial economics studies, the autoregressive model has been a workhorse for a long time. However, the model has a fixed value on every parameter and requires the stationarity assumptions. Time-varying coefficient autoregressive model that we use in this paper offers some desirable benefits over the traditional model such as the parameters are allowed to be varied over-time and can be applies to non-stationary financial data. This paper provides the Monte Carlo simulation studies which show that the model can capture the dynamic movement of parameters very well, even though, there are some sudden changes or jumps. For the daily data from January 1, 2015 to February 12, 2020, our paper provides the empirical studies that Thailand, Taiwan and Tokyo Stock market Index can be explained very well by the time-varying coefficient autoregressive model with lag order one while South Korea's stock index can be explained by the model with lag order three. We show that the model can unveil the non-linear shape of the estimated mean. We employ GJR-GARCH in the condition variance equation and found the evidences that the negative shocks have more impact on market's volatility than the positive shock in the case of South Korea and Tokyo.

Acoustic streaming Induced by longitudinal vibration at 30 kHz is visualized for a test fluid flow between the stationary glass plate and ultrasonic vibrating surface with particle imaging velocimetry (PIV) To measure an increase in the velocity of air flow due to acoustic streaming, the velocity of air flow in a gap between the heat source and ultrasonic vibrator is obtained quantitatively using PIV. The ultrasonic wave propagating into air in the gap generates steady-state secondary vortex called acoustic streaming which enhances convective cooling of the stationary heat source. Heat transfer through air in the gap is represented by experimental convective heat transfer coefficient with respect to the gap. Theoretical analysis shows that gaps for maximum heat transfer enhancement are the multiple of half wavelength. Optimal gaps for the actual design are experimentally found to be half wavelength and one wavelength. A drastic temperature variation exists for the local axial direction of the vibrator according to the measurement of the temperature distribution in the gap. The acoustic streaming velocity of the test fluid in the gap is at maximum when the gap agrees with the multiples of half wavelength of the ultrasonic wave, which are specifically 6 mm and 12 mm.

A numerical technique is presented to calculate the motions of 6 d.o.f and mooring tensions for a catenary moored floating breakwater. The breakwater may be subjected to the 3-D combination of regular or irregular waves and stationary forces. The added mass coefficients at the infinitive frequency of input wave and the variations of damping and exciting force coefficients are calculated using the source distribution method. The coefficients are used to constitute motion equations in time domain which are solved by WiIson-$\theta$ method. The solutions agree quite well with either static displacement determined from Newton method under the stationary force only or 6 d.o.f determined from the frequency domain analysis under regular wave only. An example analysis is also done for a floating breakwater to demonstrate its applicability.
Since egg white contains various protein, it is important to research the protein distribution of egg white. Specially, lysozyme and ovalbumin important proteins, are used in medicine and food industry. Reversed phase high performance liquid chromatography has been used for separation of egg white, and column of RP-HPLC is available in variety. We have used C4, C8 and C18 columns to obtain chromatograms by varying carbon chain length of stationary phase. Long carbon chain length of stationary phase has good separation of egg white. Also, we have changed the composition of mobile phase (acetonitrile, water, and trifluoroacetic acid) to find optimum chromatograms. Acetonitrile and water composition of 50 : 50 show many peaks from egg white. Isocartic and gradient elution in RP-HPLC were used to compare the chromatography of egg white.
