  • MiTS Communication Protocol is a standard for the integrated processing and exchange of information on shipboard. It is specified in the form of state transitions as normal communication protocols. The design and implementation of such communication protocol require huge amount effort and time. To alleviate such burden, some systematic methodologies need to be devised. The design pattern may be the most adoptable one. This paper describes an object-oriented design and C++ implementation of MiTS Communication Protocol by adopting such methodology.

  • Starting with linear free energy relationships (LFER), drug design to mimic of the activated complexes at transition state, and hydrolysis mechanisms to control the potency and residual properties of pesticides were introduced and summarized for the necessity. In order to understand the searching or development of new agrochemicals by two dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (2D QSAR) methodology, a series of the various descriptors, steric constants, electronic constants including quantum pharmacological parameters and hydrophobic constants were classified and discussed for results of the several studied cases. In addition, the processes of development of new agrochemicals by QSAR techniques were introduced simply.

  • The k-out-of-n system with mixed redundancy is defined as k-out-of-n system which both includes warm-standby and cold-standby components. In case that operating components in the system fail and the system needs quick transition of standby components to operation state, the k-out-of-n system with mixed redundancy is useful for decreasing system failure rate and operational cost. Reliability-Redundancy Optimization Problem (RROP) involves selection of components with multiple choices and redundancy levels for maximizing system reliability with constraints such as cost, weight, etc. A solution methodology by using harmony search algorithm for RROP of the k-out-of-n system with mixed redundancy to maximize system reliability was suggested in this study.

  • Purpose - Transnational corporations (TNCs) have influenced drastic changes (financial services, manufacturing, labor, technology transfer) in Central Eastern Europe (CEE). This paper examines the indirect changes in the CEE pattern of industrial development and market distribution. Research design, data, and methodology - Over 25 years, neighboring (or rival) countries competed to attract TNCs as a double-edged strategy for privatization and debt reduction. Through their experience attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), many countries started to reflect aspects of national capitalism. Countries also began to realize in 2010 that TNCs sought to enter markets with more favorable conditions for export-oriented manufacturing. Results - The analysis reveals that TNC investment strategies were aimed at eliminating local competition to acquire industrial "brown fields" to convert into "green fields." CEE countries have since strengthened their national systems and the support of large-scale state-owned enterprises and small and medium-sized start-up enterprises. Conclusions - CEE has changed based on industrial development and a regional structure of TNC market distribution and associated government policies. The pattern toward flexible markets gives countries the ability to further their economies.

  • The main purpose of the study is to determine the main aspects of the problem of socio-economic development in the conditions of the digital economy. The post-industrial era is characterized by the development of the electronic environment and the transition to an information civilization. In this regard, the developed countries of the world pay considerable attention to the development of the digital economy. However, there are a significant number of problems associated with this process. The country cannot be successful in the development of the digital economy in the absence of the necessary legal framework, an economic development strategy based on digital technologies. The research methodology involves the use of several theoretical methods for analyzing and synthesizing information. As a result of the study, the key problems of socio-economic development in the digital economy were characterized.

  • This Paper deals with the stochastic behavior and failure analysis of a Viscose Staple Fibre Plant which produces fibre for making clothes. The fibre making plant is a complex system with various subsystems as: Vendor (supplies Charcoal and Sulphur, raw materials for the process), Carbon di sulphide Plant, Acid Plant, Pulp Plant and Processing Plant. The considered system can completely fail due to failure of any of the subsystems. The Carbon di Sulphide Plant can fail in two different ways, due to lack of Sulphur or Charcoal. Processing Plant has the configuration 5-out-of-10: d and 6-out-of-10: f. It is also assumed that the system can fail due to workers strike and catastrophic failure. All failures follow exponential time distribution whereas all repairs follow general time distribution. Preventive Maintenance policy has been applied to reduce the failure in the system. Various reliability characteristics such as transition state probabilities, steady state behavior, reliability, availability, M.T.T.F and the cost analysis have been obtained using supplementary variable technique and Gumbel-Hougaard copula methodology.

  • Recently, digital contents systems have been constructed by means of a Web-based Information Systems(WBIS). However, developers supper from the Web Crisis since there is no systematic methodology for development and maintenance of the WBIS. To partially cope with the problem, we propose web-based business process and navigation modeling methods for efficient restructuring of a WBIS. A Business Process Net model is the business process model. Additionally, system structure model, state transition model, and user interaction model are the navigation models. These models might be useful for development and restructuring of a WBIS which includes digital contents.

  • The previous works in sensor networks security have focused on the aspect of confidentiality, authentication and integrity based on cryptographic primitives. There has been no prior work to assess the survivability in systematic way. Accordingly, this paper presents a survivability model of wireless sensor networks using software rejuvenation for dual adaptive cluster head. The survivability model has state transition to reflect status of real wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we only focus on a survivability model which is capable of describing cluster head compromise in the networks and able to switch over the redundant cluster head in order to increase the survivability of that cluster. Second, this paper presents how to enhance the survivability of sensor networks using software rejuvenation methodology for dual cluster head in wireless sensor network. We model and analyze each cluster as a stochastic process based on Semi Markov Process (SMP) and Discrete Time Markov Chain (DTMC). The proof of example scenarios and numerical analysis shows the feasibility of our approach.

  • This paper investigates the impact of the forecast error on performance of a reservoir system for hydropower production. Forecast error is measured as th Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and parametrically varied within a Generalized Maintenance Of Variance Extension (GMOVE) procedure. A set of transition probabilities are calculated as a function of the RMSE of the GMOVE procedure and then incorporated into a Bayesian Stochastic Dynamic Programming model which derives monthly operating policies and assesses their performance. As a case study, the proposed methodology is applied to the Skagit Hydropower System (SHS) in Washington state. The results show that the system performance is a nonlinear function of RMSE and therefor suggested that continued improvements in the current forecast accuracy correspond to gradually greater increase in performance of the SHS.
