  • The effect of silver nanoparticles (NPs) incorporation on the electronic properties of poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiphene) : poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT : PSS) films was investigated. The surface of silver NPs was stabilized with trisodium citrate to control the size of silver NPs and prevent their aggregation. We obtained ca. 5 nm sized silver NPs and dispersed NPs in PEDOT : PSS solution. Sheet resistance, surface morphology, bonding state, and work function values of the PEDOT : PSS films were modified by silver NPs incorporation as well as annealing temperature. Sodium in silver NPs solution could lead to a decrease of work function of PEDOT : PSS; however, large content of silver NPs have an effect on the increase in work function, resulting from charge localization on the silver NPs and a decrease in the number of charge-trapping-related defects by chemical bond formation.

  • In this work, highly uniform size-controlled $Cu_2O$ nanocubes can be successfully formed by means of pulse electrodeposition. The size distribution, crystal structure, and chemical state of deposited $Cu_2O$ nanocubes are characterized using scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The phase transition from $Cu_2O$ to Cu can be controlled by constant current electrodeposition as a function of deposition time. In particular, the size of the $Cu_2O$ nanocubes can be controlled using pulse electrodeposition as a function of applied current density.

  • Active control of sound radiation from a vibrating rectangular plate by a steady-state harmonic point force disturbance is experimentally studied. Structural excitation is achieved by two piezoceramic actuators mounted on the panel. Two accelerometers are implemented as error sensors. Estimated radiated sound signals using vibro-acoustic path transfer function are used as error signals. The vibro-acoustic path transfer function represents system between accelerometers and microphones. The approach is based on a multi-channel filtered-x LMS algorithm. The results shows that attenuation of sound levels of 11dB, 10dB is achieved.

  • The statistical thermodynamical properties of heavy water are calculated according to the transient state theory of significant liquid structure. The calculated values are shown to be in good agreement with the observed ones. The grand canonical ensemble partition function for the adsorbed phase of heavy water on graphite surface is derived using the theory. The adsorption isotherm, the surface pressure, the molar entropy and the molar internal energy for the adsorbed phase and then the molar heat of adsorption are calculated according to the derived partition function. The thermodynamic properties of the adsorbed water are also calculated and the results are compared with those of heavy water and discussed in view of the experimentally observed phenomena.

  • In this paper, we addressed the problem of reducing the switching activity in pipeline datapath and proposed a solution. clock-gating method is a kind of practical technique for reducing switching activity in finite state machine. But, in the case that the target gated function unit has a pipeline structure, there is some spurious switching activity on each stage register group. This occur in early stage of every function enable cycle. In this paper we proposed a method to solve this problem. This method generates the enable signal to each pipeline stage to gate the clock feeding register group. Experimental results showed effective reduction of dynamic powers in pipeline circuits.

  • In this paper Hartley functions are used to approximate the solutions of continuous time linear dynamical system. The Hartley function and its integral operational matrix are first presented, an efficient algorithm to solve the Stein equation is proposed. The algorithm is based on the compound matrix and the inverse of sum of matrices. Using the structure of the Hartley's integral operational matrix, the full order Stein equation should be solved in terms of the solutions of pure algebraic matrix equations, which reduces the computation time remarkably. Finally a numerical example is illustrated to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithm.

  • A network consisting of a set of N nodes and a set of links is considered. The nodes are assumed to be perfect and the states of links to be binary and associated to each other. After defining a network structure function, which represents the state of network as a function of the states of links, we obtain some lower and upper bounds on the network reliability by adopting minmax principle and minimal path and cut set arguments. These bounds are given as functions of the reliabilities of links. The bridge network is considered as an example.

  • Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is described as abnormalities of myocardial structure and function in diabetic patients without other well-established cardiovascular factors. Although multiple pathological mechanisms involving in this unique myocardial disorder, mitochondrial dysfunction may play an important role in its development of DCM. Recently, considerable progresses have suggested that mitochondrial biogenesis is a tightly controlled process initiating mitochondrial generation and maintaining mitochondrial function, appears to be associated with DCM. Nonetheless, an outlook on the mechanisms and clinical relevance of dysfunction in mitochondrial biogenesis among patients with DCM is not completely understood. In this review, hence, we will summarize the role of mitochondrial biogenesis dysfunction in the development of DCM, especially the molecular underlying mechanism concerning the signaling pathways beyond the stimulation and inhibition of mitochondrial biogenesis. Additionally, the evaluations and potential therapeutic strategies regarding mitochondrial biogenesis dysfunction in DCM is also presented.

  • The distributed-parameter structures expressed with the partial differential equations are considered as the infinite-dimensional dynamic system. For implementation of a controller in multivariate systems, it is necessary to derive the state-space reduced order model. By the eigensystem realization algorithm, we can yield tile subspace system with the Markov parameters derived from the measured frequency response function by the inverse discrete Fourier transformation. We also review the necessary conditions for the convergence of the approximation system and the error bounds in terms of the singular values of Markov-parameter matrices. To determine the natural frequencies and modal damping ratios, the modal coordinate transformation is applied to the realization system. The vibration test for a smart structure is performed to provide the records of frequency response functions used in the subspace system realization.

  • The seismic safety of reinforced concrete containment building can be evaluated by probabilistic analysis considering randomness of earthquake, which is more rational than deterministic analysis. In the safety assessment of earthquake-resistant structures by the deterministic theory, it is not easy to consider the effects of random variables but the reliability theory and random vibration theory are useful to assess the seismic safety with considering random effects. The reliability assessment of reinforced concrete containment building subjected to earthquake load includes the structural analysis considering random variables such as load, resistance and analysis method, the definition of limit states and the reliability analysis. The reliability analysis procedure requires much time and labor and also needs to get the high confidence in results. In this study, random vibration analysis of containment building is performed with random variables as earthquake load, concrete compressive strength, modal damping ratio. The seismic responses of critical elements of structure are approximated at the most probable failure point by the response surface method. The response surface method helps to figure out the quantitative characteristics of structural response variability. And the limit state is defined as the failure surface of concrete under multi-axial stress, finally the limit state probability of failure can be obtained simply by first-order second moment method. The reliability analysis for the multiaxial strength limit state and the uniaxial strength limit state is performed and the results are compared with each other. This study concludes that the multiaxial failure criterion is a likely limit state to predict concrete failure strength under combined state of stresses and the reliability analysis results are compatible with the fact that the maximum compressive strength of concrete under biaxial compression state increases.
