The ubiquitous transportation system environments make it possible to collect each vehicle's position and velocity data and to perform more sophisticated traffic flow management at individual vehicle or platoon level through V2V and V2I communications. The VISSIM simulation experiments were performed to address the issues in developing the preventive congestion management algorithm proposed in the companion paper. Traffic flow stability measures were developed based on the platoon profile, which enables us to explicitly consider traffic flow stability in traffic flow management. Traffic flow management strategies according to the traffic flow states were proposed: Maintain the equilibrium speed for free flow state, maintain the traffic flow stability by platoon control for critical state, and surpress the shock wave propagation for congested state. And finally potential benefit of the proposed traffic flow management scheme was evaluated based on the simulation experiment results. It is considered that extensive field experiments should be performed to confirm the simulated results.

Purpose: The study sought to uncover the effect of emotional labour strategies (surface acting and deep acting) on job satisfaction and emotional exhaustion. The study also purposed to analyse the moderating effect of organisational support (supervisory support and co-worker support) and the role of gender on emotional labour connotations. Research design, data and methodology: A conceptual framework was developed using extant literature which led to the examination of deep acting and surface acting, which are the two main strategies of emotional labour. The outcome variables were emotional exhaustion and job satisfaction. Data was collected from front line employees of banks and was analysed using SEM-AMOS version 21. Results: It was revealed, in this study, that surface acting is inversely related to job satisfaction and positively related to emotional exhaustion, whereas deep acting was positively related to job satisfaction and inversely related to emotional exhaustion. The roles of gender and organisational support were also confirmed. Conclusions: The study therefore concluded that deep acting is the most ideal strategy of emotional labour as it leads to job satisfaction and reduced emotional exhaustion. Surface acting is a harmful emotional labour strategy.

This paper presents a model for determining the optimal number of general repairs and supplementary input cost limit rate in addition to minimal repair cost rate to implement preventive maintenance. The basic concept parallels the periodic replacement model with minimal repair at failure introduced by Barlow and Hunter(1960) and Park(1979), only difference being the replacement signalled by the number of previous general repairs performed on the system. A general repair brings the state of the system to a certain better state than before repaired. Numerical examples are provided.

The Purpose of this paper contribute to design the multistate Markov process for the reliability of a system when the transition-rates of each unit depend on the current state of the system. The system transition-rate matrix has the form of the kronecker sum of transition rate matrices for the units, is analyzed and investigated. As a result, the system which has the state-dependent units is detaily analyzed and introduced by the approach of an algorithm for the system transition-rate matrix based on the kronecker algebra.

Data on nearly one hundred thousands of Korean quality circles, registered with KSA(Korean standard association), are classified by regional groups, size, and industry. The classified data are analyzed in order to investigate the actual state of quality circles. Some international comparisons such as managerial objectives for introducing quality circles are also included.

We demonstrate in this paper that the level crossing technique can be applied to such a system that not only the state vector is two-dimensional but Its two components are heterogeneous. As an example system, we use the GI-G/c/K queue whose state vector consists of the number of customers in the system and the total unfinished work.

Expected number of visits in the steady state of the regenerative process is one of the most useful characteristics. The formula for this expected number of visits in the steady state of the regenerative process is presented in this paper. Because this formula is for the general model, it can be applied to many special systems including 2-unit redundant system. An example for this formula is also presented.

This paper attempts to identify the factors which are directly related to the effective transfer of technology from developed countries to LDCs. The recipient countries should have the capability of alteration/adaptation based on cost-minimization criteria. Some problems are such that technologies are transferred on the conditions of MNFs, packaged forms and under state management which result in lack of competitive pressure. Non-technological criteria are shown to be a problem under state management in the transaction of technology.

In this study, an efficient algorithm is developed to compute steady state probabilities for the following M$_{x}$G/1 server vacation system under control-operating poligy: At the end of a busy period, the server takes a sequence of vacations, each for a random amount of time. At the end of each vacation, he inspects the length of the queue. If the queue length at this time is equal to or greater than a prespecified threshold value r, he begins to serve the queue until it is empty.y.
