  • Objectives: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) or lupus patients usually experience various physical and psychological challenges. Since the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, these challenges have become even harsher. Using the participatory action research approach, this study evaluated how an e-wellness program (eWP) impacted SLE-related knowledge and health behaviors, mental health, and quality of life among lupus patients in Thailand. Methods: A 1-group, pretest-posttest design study was conducted among a purposive sample of lupus patients who were members of Thai SLE Foundation. The 2 main intervention components were: (1) online social support, and (2) lifestyle and stress management workshops. Sixty-eight participants completed all the study requirements, including the Physical and Psychosocial Health Assessment questionnaire. Results: After being in the eWP for 3 months, participants' mean score for SLE-related knowledge increased significantly (t=5.3, p<0.001). The increase in sleep hours was statistically significant (Z=-3.1, p<0.01), with the percentage of participants who slept less than 7 hours decreasing from 52.9% to 29.0%. The percentage of participants reporting sun exposure decreased from 17.7% to 8.8%. The participants also reported significantly lower stress (t(66)=-4.4, p<0.001) and anxiety (t(67)=-2.9, p=0.005). The post-eWP quality of life scores for the pain, planning, intimate relationship, burden to others, emotional health, and fatigue domains also improved significantly (p<0.05). Conclusions: The overall outcomes showed promising results of improved self-care knowledge, health behaviors, mental health status, and quality of life. It is recommended that the SLE Foundation continues to use the eWP model to help the lupus patient community.

The purpose of the research lies in establishing how effectively children, parents and their teachers cope with online distance learning during the pandemic, as well as investigating the extent to which such educational technology affects the emotional and behavioural state of the child. The research methodology is based on complexity. In the course of the research, the method of pedagogical experiment was used; observation and questionnaire methods were also introduced; the descriptive method, analysis and synthesis were used to review the theoretical material. The hypothesis lies in the fact that distance online education increases academic difficulties, changes the behavioural and emotional picture of a child with cognitive development disorder; consequently, the behaviour and emotional background will be limited by certain parameters, and this requires the active involvement of parents and teachers in the distance work process. The results of the research have revealed that distance education causes a number of restrictions for children with cognitive development disorder, namely: concentration of attention has decreased, anxiety has increased, and sleep has worsened. Behavioural changes predicted increased restlessness and aggression. Parents and teachers have had methodological, academic and everyday difficulties; all participants in the educational process have been more limited in the conditions of online distance learning. difficulties and improving the behaviour and emotional states of all participants in the educational process.

  • There are several ways to analyse stress resulting from anxiety and fear within dental treatment for children. Surveying questionnaires and monitoring biologic reaction are the most common ways for evaluating stress. Pulse oximeter is a popular device for detecting heart rate but not appropriate for moving children. In this study, we compared a recently introduced wrist- watch type heart rate monitor(Alpha, MIO, USA) with a pulse oximeter(MP110, MECKIS, Republic of Korea) for 10 attendants with two conditions including resting state and excited state after exercise. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon Signed Rank test and there is no statistical difference between two devices(p < 0.05).

  • This research aims to perceive the present state of science experimental education practiced in middle school and also to improve the laboratorial environment. Accordingly, this study surveyed 297 middle school science teachers in Seoul to examine the risks and accidents occurred during lab sessions, the conditions of chemical waste disposal, and whether or not teacher's manual clearly states cautions on toxic chemicals. About 70%(69.6%) of science teachers were highly concerned about risks and toxicity of chemicals used in classes, 59.9% experienced actual accidents, and 83.2% were anxiety of incidents caused by chemicals. Besides, 55.2% of science teachers answered that they have little knowledge about caring noxious chemicals used in lab sessions. So it turns out that they need more specific education on handling toxic chemicals. More than one third(36.7%) answered that they disposed of chemical waste water without any special care or kept it in the lab after experiments. The number of chemicals as well used in middle school curriculum is increasing as grades gets higher toxic chemicals. However, there are few teachers' manual covering how to handle noxious chemicals. Therefore, in middle school curriculum the number of poisonous chemicals should be minimized as much as possible, and in case the toxic chemicals have to be used, teacher's guide book should state precautions on handling chemicals in detail. Also government should make it obligatory on schools to instate ventilator for chemical waste, or to transport the waste to proper disposal systems.

  • The relocation policy of public Institutions throughout provincial areas that implemented for the purpose of "balanced national development" finished in 2019 with the last relocation of the Korea Institute of Science & Technology Evaluation and Planning, which moved to Chungbuk Innovation City. Electric power public corporations also completed relocation program over eight regions across the nation. This study was conducted empirically to identify the structural relationship between the public service motivation and job attitude. In this, the relationship of organizational change, particularly occurred by the regional relocation, with the psychological state of these organization members (experienced direct changes and got substantial impacts in various aspects such as psychological, economic and living environment, etc.,) was studied. This study aims to seek early organizational stabilization ideas for electric power public corporations after relocation, and to present some implications that can contribute to the secondary relocation of public institutions to local areas. This study shows the statistically significant relationship between the psychological state occurred by relocation and organizational commitment. The result shows that the higher the expectation levels, the higher the degree of organizational commitment, while anxious psychological state has no relation with that. Additionally, expectation level has no significant functional relation with turnover intention. Followings are the major conclusions revealed in this study; The stronger the anxious psychological state, the higher the turnover inducement goes up. The higher the expectation levels, the higher the public service motivation grows, and the higher the anxiety psychological state, the public service motivation lowers. The organizational commitment grows according to the public service motivation proportionally, but the turnover inducement intention is weak. The moderating effect of public service motivation between the expectation of organizational change and turnover intention was not significant, but it was analyzed that the moderating effect of public service motivation formed a significant relationship with other anxiety psychology. The expectation levels of employees of electric power public corporations has grown up after moving to provincial areas. Relationship between the expectation mind and the turnover inducement has decreased after local relocation.

  • Natural and social disasters, such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, fires, explosions, and traffic accidents occur frequently around the world. In Korea, a vicious cycle of large-scale accidents caused by natural disasters and insensitivity to safety is repeated each year. In particular, the tragic sinking of the Sewol ferry in 2014 and strong earthquakes with a magnitude of 5.0 and greater in Gyeongju and Pohang in 2016 and 2017, respectively, threw the entire country into a state of shock, increasing the public anxiety regarding disaster preparedness. This paper discusses the trends in broadcast emergency alert systems used to minimize damage from a disaster by delivering urgent status information quickly and accurately through a broadcast network, and to provide information regarding disaster risk and emergency evacuation procedures.

  • Bereavement is the state of loss resulting from death. Grief is the emotional response associated with loss, intense and acute sorrow resulting from loss. Complicated grief represent a pathological outcome involving social, physical, emotional, cognitive, spiritual morbidity. The common psychiatric disorders associated complicated grief or abnormal grief responses include clinical depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol abuse or other substance abuse, and dependence, psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Grief tasks involve a series of stage or phases following an important loss that gradually permit adjustment and recovery. Three phases of grief involve phase 1 (walking the edges), phase 2 (entering the depths), and phase 3 (reconnecting the world). For intervention to be effective they need to be individually tailored to abnormal grief reaction or unresolved grief reaction. Clear understandings of complicated grief, abnormal responses, factors increasing risk after bereavement will often enable us to prevent psychiatric disorders in bereaved patients.
