  • In Korea, the initial installation of GIS requires lots of cost, time, and human efforts. If the accuracy of GIS data does not meet the certain standard for use, the system may not work as expected. So, it needs to be investigated for the accuracy of raw data. However, there is little study for the accuracy of raw data in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to review the data accuracy of raw data - geologic map, 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 scale topographic map, forest stand map, degree of green naturality(DGN) map, and detailed survey data of DGN map-, which are to be used in Environmental Information System(EIS) in Korea. After this study, some errors in data were surveyed and following conclusions were derived. (1) There is no map data, e. g, wildlife habitat map. (2) Some data are misinterpreted depending on the location in the geologic map. (3) Some data are not updated properly after change of topography in the topographic map or the elevation and location is different depending on the scale.. (4) Some data are not edited properly in the forest stand map, e. g. two attributes in one polygon. (5) DGN classification system does not reflect the characteristic of Korean vegetation community. So, it needs to be refined and restructured.

  • This study describes a proposed method of converting an input sound signal into a color image by emulating human synesthetic skills which make it possible to associate an sound source with a specific color image. As a first step of sound-to-image conversion, features such as fundamental frequency(F0) and energy are extracted from an input sound source. Then, a musical scale and an octave can be calculated from F0 signals, so that scale, energy and octave can be converted into three elements of HSI model such hue, saturation and intensity, respectively. Finally, a color image with the BMP file format is created as an output of the process of the HSI-to-RGB conversion. We built a basic system on the basis of the proposed method using a standard C-programming. The simulation results revealed that output color images with the BMP file format created from input sound sources have diverse hues corresponding to the change of the F0 signals, where the hue elements have different intensities depending on octaves with the minimum frequency of 20Hz. Furthermore, output images also have various levels of chroma(or saturation) which is directly converted from the energy.

  • A pilot scale non-woven fabric filter separation activated sludge system was investigated for practical application on domestic wastewater reclamation and reuse. The system was operated in A/O (Anaerobic/Oxic) process with submerged filter module in the aerobic compartment. In the test of two types of filter materials ($70g/m^2$ and $35g/m^2$), the initial flux (0.42m/d) could be maintained for about three months by regular air backwashing of $70g/m^2$ filter at 0.3m water head. The removal efficiency of organic matter by the system was BOD 93.3%, CODcr 96.3%, SS 96.7%. The effluent quality was 7.8mg/L, 12mg/L and 5mg/L for BOD, CODcr and SS, respectively. The water quality was enough to meet a standard for domestic reuse without human contact. T-N removal efficiency was 49.9% at internal recycle rate 2Q and C/N ratio 3.3. The removal efficiency of T-P was 50% with average effluent concentration, 2.6mg/L.

  • Consumers' interest in health is increasing, and health-seeking consumption lifestyles, including comprehensive consumption behaviors related to physical health, mental health, and a healthy dietary lifestyle are becoming increasingly important to many people. The purpose of this study was to develop a health-seeking consumption lifestyle scale that could aid in determining effects of social status, perceived health status, and socio-demographical variables on health-seeking consumption lifestyles. Data were collected via an on-line survey of 500 respondents, all of whom were married women 20 year of age or older. The data were analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, factor analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis. The results of this study are as following: First, health-seeking consumption lifestyle demonstrated three main factors: physical health-seeking consumption lifestyle, mental health-seeking consumption lifestyle and healthy dietary life seeking consumption lifestyle. Second, most respondents identified themselves with the middle class and perceived their health status positively. Third, health-seeking consumption lifestyle demonstrated significant differences based on socio-demographical variables. Fourth, health-seeking consumption lifestyle was significantly affected by social class, age, and health status comparisons within similar age groups.

  • Human perceptional speed is different from its real speed. There is lack of research that the perceptional speed is different from real speed in 2-dimension, because most research of speed perception has concentrated on points and lines. This research investigates the effects of object size on speed perception. In this research, we used 2-D circular objects of the different size, 0.9, 1.8 and $3.6^{\circ}$. The objects moved 9.0, 13.5 and $18.0^{\circ}$ with three different speeds, 6.0, 9.0 and $18.0^{\circ}$/s. Six participants were exposed to the environment with standard scene(size: $1.8^{\circ}$, speed: $9.0^{\circ}$/s and travel distance: $13.5^{\circ}$). After the first scene, another scene in which the object had changed to different sizes, speeds and distances, was shown to the participants. A magnitude estimation method was used to construct a scale of the perceived speed level. The relationship between the perceived and the actual speed level was explained by Stevens's power law that the value was 0.978 with the exponent of 0.992. The size of object had an effect on the speed perception but travel distance was not. The perceptional speed of bigger object was lower than of smaller object. It showed that the degrees of perceptional speed decreased as size of object increased.

  • Survey questionnaires were conducted on housewives under 60 who had bought an apartment in Daegu. The data used in this study is collected Dalseo-Gu, Soosung-Gu and Buk-Gu by means of cluster sampling and from those chosen samples I use convenience sampling. The data were analyzed by SPSS WIN 10.0 program. The purpose of this study is to examine housing characteristics and apartment choice as a social class closely in order to improve value of apartment and to provide housing plan of apartment supply which is distinguished by a social class and moreover, to achieve efficient marketing strategy according to a recent recognition that housing is a kind of commodities. Objective and subjective measure of value are used to classify a social class. Objective measure of value includes scale apartment, a form of possession, a price of apartment, an occupation of husband, family income and academic background and subjective measure of value includes the standard of living out of people's own head. These measure of value are classified by giving consequence to each item with reference to ISC (index of status characteristics) of Wanner. There is a difference of housing characteristics and apartment choice as a social class as a consequence of this study. Therefore, this study suggests repeatedly that it should need not standardized housing supply but apartment supply of diverse demand desire because there is a difference of housing characteristics and apartment choice as a social class.

  • A debris flow is caused by torrential rain in mountainous regions and carries mixture of fragmental matter from slope failure, deposit soils from a valley floor and a large amount of water. It seriously damages facilities, houses, and human lives in its path. We tried to apply debris flow behavior estimation model developed in foreign country to domestic case. The study area is Inje-county, Gangwon-do and aerial photos and GPS surveying were used to collect information of starting and end point of the landslide and debris flow. The analysis showed that L/H for forecasting the travel distances of debris flows has the mean of 4.93 and standard deviation of 0.98. This model tended to overestimate the scale and extent of debris flows. In Inje-county's case, a debris flow is caused by multiple simultaneous small-scale landslide. This is quite different from the foreign cases in which a large-scale landslide cause a large-scale debris flow. Thus, an empirical model suitable for domestic conditions needs to be developed.
