In this paper, cycle performance analysis of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system using alternative freon refrigerants is presented to offer the basic design data for the operating parameters of the system. Alternative freon refrigerant for freon refrigerant R22 were used as working fluids in this study. The operating parameters considered in this study included evaporation temperature, condensation temperature, subcooling degree, superheating degree, and mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler. The main results were summarized as follows : The COP of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system increases with the increasing subcooling degree and mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler, but decreases with the increasing evaporating temperature, condensing temperature and superheating degree. Therefore, subcooling degree, mass flow rate ratio of inter-cooler of two-stage compression and two-stage expansion refrigeration system using alternative freon refrigerants have an effect on COP of this system.

This paper proposes a new multipath interconnection network(MIN) structure for improving performance which uses widely in the design of multiprocessing, ATM system and VOD server. For improving performance such as passthrough ratio and packet latency, it proposes new routing method which routes one of the collided packets into the i+1-th switching stage of the adding Banyan MIN network when it occurred collision at the i-th switching stage of the basic MIN again when they collide each other. The new improved performance MIN network has been compared with MBSF, TBSF and PBSF structured MIN network from the viewpoint of passthrough ratio and the number of switching stage vs. passthrough ratio. It is shown to improve a performance and to be a simple structure which reducing the number of switching stage of adding MIN in comparison with other structured MIN including TBSF.
Power plant industry has been developed at high-capacity, high-technology, and innovation. Steam turbine became the most useful equipment that dominate more than 50% of all the world electricity production. And developed new materials of the turbine blade and extended length of the turbine last blade brought reform in steam turbine performance upgrade. In this paper, when do partial load driving in high-capacity steam turbine, optimum driving method found whether there is something. In operating steam turbine, there is a lot of loss from secondary wake and throttle of the 1st stage nozzle by the biggest leading factor that load fluctuation affects in high-pressure steam turbine performance. Effect of internal efficiency by 1 stage nozzle is the biggest here, but here fluid flow and flow analysis were not yet examined closely definitely. So, Analyzed design data and acceptance performance test result to applying subcritical pressure drum type 560 MW, supercritical-pressure once through type 500 MW, and 800 MW steam turbines actually. In conclusion, at partial load driving, partial arc admission(PAA) is more efficient than full arc admission(FAA) efficiency. This is judged by because increase being proportional with gross energy of stream that is pressure - available energy if pressure of stream that is flowed in to the turbine increases, available energy becomes maximum and turbine efficiency improves. Therefore, turbine performance is that preview that first stage performance fell if decline is serious in partial load because first stage performance changes according to load.
Korea Aerospace Research Institute is performing 3 stage transonic axial compressor development program. This paper introduces design step of the compressor, the performance test results and its analysis. In the fore part of the paper, aerodynamic process of the 3 stage axial compressor is presented. To satisfy both of the mass flow and pressure rise, the compressor should rotate at a high rotational speed. Therefore the transonic flow field forms in the rotor stages and it is designed with a relatively high pressure rise per stage to satisfy its design target. The compressor stage consists of 3 stages, and the bulk pressure ratio is 2.5. The first stage is burdened with the highest pressure ratio and less pressure rises occur in the following stages. Also it is designed that tip Mach number of the first rotor row does not exceed 1.3, while the maximum relative Mach number in the rotor stage is between 1.3~1.4 to increase the compressor flow coefficient. The final design has been confirmed by iterating three dimensional CFD calculations to verify design target and some design intentions. In the latter part of the paper, its performance test processes and results are presented. The performance test result shows that the overall compressor performance targets; pressure ratio and efficiency are well achieved. The stator static pressure distributions show that the blade loading is gradually increasing from the downstream of the compressor.

The foremost criterion in the design of a Satellite Launch Vehicle(SLV) is its performance capability to boost the designated payload to the desired mission orbit; it starts from focusing on the SLV configuration to achieve the velocity requirements($}\Delta}V$) for the mission. In this paper we review an analytical approach which is suitable enough for preliminary conceptual design and is used previously to optimize stage configurations for Two Stage to Orbit SLV for Low Earth Orbit(LEO) Missions; we have extended this approach to Three Stage to Orbit SLV and compared different propellant options for the mission. The objective is to minimize the Gross Lift off Weight(GLOW). The primary performance figures of merit were the total inert weight of the SLV and the payload weight that the SLV could lift into LEO, given candidate propulsion systems. The optimization is achieved by configuring the $}\Delta}V$ between stages. A comparison of configurations of single-stage and multi-stage SLVs is made for different propellants. Based upon the optimized stage configurations a comparative performance analysis is made between Liquid and Solid fueled SLV. A 3 degree of freedom trajectory-analysis program is modeled in SIMULINK and used to conduct the performance analysis. Furthermore, a cost analysis is performed on our stage optimized SLVs. The cost estimation relationships(CER) used give us a comparison of development and fabrication costs for the Liquid vs. Solid fueled SLV in man years. The pros and cons of the production, operation ability, performance, responsiveness, logistics, price, shelf life, storage etc of both Solid and Liquid fueled SLVs are discussed. The statistics and data are used from existing or historical(real) SLV stages.
Performing arts offer fun and knowledge and are directed for various purposes. Performing arts are also used as a means for education. Children's English media musical, 'The Magic Flute' is the performance reflecting all these. The author of this study took part in stage costume production, and this study was carried out aiming at designing and producing stage costume in line with educational purpose and intention. This study consists of an analysis stage for the existing performances of 'The Magic Flute', and a stage costume design and production stage for children's English media musical, 'The Magic Flute', First, this study classified and analyzed the stage design and stage costume design of the existing 'The Magic Flute' by concept, and then, examined their features, respectively. and this study unfolded the stage costume concept, based on the analyses of existing performance's stage costume and the characters' personality and features described in the current study subject's script. As the last step of this study made each character's stage costume. A total of 69 costumes for stage costume were made for 7 types of characters. This study is considered to have huge significance in that the stage costume was developed for 'The Magic Flute'.
In this study, the simulation for performance comparison between basic single stage organic rankine cycle, multi stage reheater cycle and multi stage reheater & recuperator cycle was carried out. The multi stage reheater cycle and multi stage reheater & recuperator cycle was designed to improve the efficiency for organic rankine cycle using heat source from industrial waste heat and heat sink from deep ocean water. R245fa was selected as a refrigerant for the cycle and system efficiencies were simulated by the variation of the heat sink temperature and the cycle classification. Performance characteristics were simulated by using the Aspen HYSYS. It was confirmed that the system efficiency was decreased by the increase of heat sink temperature. These results can be considered to be applied as geo-ocean thermal energy conversion in where plenty of geothermal or ocean thermal resource exist.

A $CO_2$ cycle shows large throttling loss during the expansion process. The application of an expander into the $CO_2$ cycle can reduce the throttling loss and then improve system performance. In this study, the performance of a transcritical $CO_2$ cycle with an expander was analytically investigated in order to improve the cooling performance of the system. The expander was applied to the single-stage and two-stage compression cycles. The performance was analyzed with the variations of compressor frequency, outdoor temperature, and expander efficiency. The single-stage and two-stage compression cycles with the expander showed COP improvement of 25% and 32%, respectively, over the single-stage cycle with an EEV.

This paper presents the fabrication procedure and the experiments for the 3-axis fine positioning stage proposed in[1]. First, the dynamic characteristics of the actuator and the stage are tested with the preload changed in order to validate the stage design specifications. Secondly, the performance of the stage is also evaluated on the accuracy associated with linear positioning, angular error, and straightness error. Experimental results show that the developed stage is accurate enough to be used for nanometer positioning. Through the analysis and experiment, the developed fine positioning stage are found to have a long stroke due to the magnetically preloaded PZT actuators, the minimum motion crosstalk due to the use of a ball contact mechanism and the compact design.

There has been little study on the performance characteristics of the effective heat pump systems in the cooling mode using the two-stage compression cycles have hardly performed. In this study, the performance of the two-stage compression $CO_2$ cycle with an FI (flash intercooler) and the FGB (flash gas bypass) was investigated by using a theoretical method. The performance analysis was carried out with aby varyingiation (the indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, and 1st- and 2nd-stage EEV openings. As of a result, the coefficients of performance (COPs) of the Bbasic, FI, and FGB cycles were decreased by 28.5%, 22.1%, and 24.5%, respectively, for various outdoor temperature conditions. In addition to, the performance variation of the two-stage compression cycle was smaller than that of the single-stage compression cycle. The performance of the FI and FGB cycles was improved by 13.5%, and 6.9%, respectively, when the 1st-stage EEV opening was increased from 32% to 48%, and by 0.9%, and 2.6%, respectively, when the 1st- andthe 2nd-stage EEV opening was increased from 32% to 48%, andwas increased from 42% to 58%, respectively. The FI cycle showed anthe most improved performance for any given operating conditions.
