차량용 고분자전해질 연료전지의 냉시동 특성 (Characteristics of cold startup in automotive PEMFC)

  • The startup behaviour of PEM fuel cells at subfreeze zero is one of the most challenging tasks to be solved before PEM fuel cell vehicle is commercialized. Automotive companies are trying to increase cold statup capability of fuel cell. In this study, we found out the design factor of the stack to increase cold startup capability using 4kW stack and then cold startup test was performed at the various shutdown condition and the various current. In order to test the cold startup possibility and capability in vehicle, we installed 80kW stack in the vehicle and this 80kW fuel cell vehicle was housed in an environmental chamber to investigate the characteristics of cold startup and driving. We found that it is possible for fuel cell vehicle with 80kW stack to self-heated cold startup and drive at $-15^{\circ}C$.

  • An experimental study is performed to evaluate the performance and the efficiency by humidifying MEA and by making the double-tied catalyst layers in a fuel cell system which is taken into account the physical and thermal concept. An electrical output produced by PEFC(polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell) is measured to assess the performance of the stack and the efficiency is also evaluated according to the different situation in which is placed with and without the humidification of MEA (Membrane Electrolyte Assembly). Subsequently, It is found that the measured values of stack voltage and current are influenced by the stack temperature, humidification, and the double-tied catalyst layers which gives more enhanced values to apply for electric units.

  • Device makers want to make higher density chips as devices shrink, especially WSix poly stack down is one of the key issues. However, EPD (End Point Detection) time delay was happened in DPS+ poly chamber which is a barrier to achieve device shrink because EPD time delay killed test pattern and next generation device. To investigate the EPD time delay, a test was done with patterned wafers. This experimental was carried out combined with OES(Optical Emission Spectroscopy) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy). OES was used to find corrected wavelength in WSix stack down gate etching. SEM was used to confirm WSix gate profile and gate oxide damage. Through the experiment, a new wavelength (252nm) line of plasma is selected for DPS+ chamber to call correct EPD in WSix stack down gate etching for current device and next generation device.

  • PEMFC stack power output is needed to be around 100 kW to meet the requirements of automotive application and scaling-up the active area of the stack cells will allow a higher power. In the case of scaling-up the active area of cells, it is difficult to obtain uniform in-plane internal conditions such as temperature, relative humidity and stoichiometry of the feed gas. These ununiformity with the location in the cell would affect both the performance and durability of the stack, so it is important to understand phenomena in the cell for improving them. In this study, the current density, electrochemical resistance and performance distribution measurement was performed to understand the ununiformity in a single cell using in-situ method; (1) Current Density Distribution (CDD) Device and (2) Segmented Cell Fixture. The influence of location of feed gas on the performance of a single cell was experimentally measured and discussed by using a segmented single cell which was composed of 8 compartments. The correlation between the location and performance in a single cell was discussed by these two tools and it was extended between the local characterization and the durability in a MEA by comparing the used cell with a fresh one. It was also studied in terms of electrochemistry by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.

건물용 고체산화물연료전지 스택 안전성능평가 연구 (Study on safety performance evaluation of stationary SOFC stack)

  • SOFC (Solid Oxide Fuel Cell) stack 안전성능 평가항목 및 평가절차 도출을 위하여 국내 외 연료전지 관련 규격들을 분석하였으며, 분석을 통해 도출된 시험항목으로 SOFC stack 안전성능 시험을 실시하였다. 시험에 사용된 SOFC stack은 (주)미코사(社)에서 제작된 음극 지지형 2 cell stack(활성면적: $110.25cm^2/cell$)이고, 평가장치는 자체 제작한 SOFC stack 안전성능 평가 장치를 사용하였다. 기밀성능 시험, 전류전압특성 시험, 정격출력 시험 및 부하변동 시험을 실시하였으며, 그 결과 해당 stack의 최대출력은 65.6 W(1.41 V, 46.5 A, $422mA/cm^2$), 정격출력은 62.3 W(1.57 V, 40 A, $363mA/cm^2$)로 나타났으며 가스누출이 없음을 확인하였다. 또한, 부하변동에 대하여 2초 이내에 안정적으로 출력이 유지되는 것을 확인하였다. 이때 운전 온도 $750^{\circ}C$에서 최대부하(40 A) 및 최소부하(8 A)에서의 출력은 각 62 W와 16 W로 측정되었다. 본 연구를 통하여 고체산화물연료전지의 보급화와 안전한 사용 환경을 제공하는데 기여하고자 한다.

  • In this study, 3-cell stack fuel cell power technology was developed for charging superconducting coil. It was found that the performance of the fuel cell stack increased depending on the number of activation. In addition, the flow rates of hydrogen and air supplied to 3-cell stack was adjusted because of a large difference in membrane electrode assembly (MEA) characteristics depending on its location. As a result, it was confirmed that it was possible to apply current to the superconducting coil from about 15 to 33 A by changing the variable resistance, and it was confirmed that the voltage difference between fuel cell cells could be overcome through sufficient control of fuel supply.

자장방향이 적층 Bi-2223도체의 자화손실에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Field Orientation on Magnetization Loss in a Stacked Bi-2223 Conductor)

  • The ac loss is an important issue in the design of high-Tc superconducting power devices such as transformers and cables. In these devices many Bi-2223 tapes are closely stacked together and exposed to alternating magnetic fields that can have different orientations with respect to a tape. In such arrangement the magnetization loss is influenced by the screening current induced in adjacent tapes and thus different from that in a single tape. This stacking effect was experimentally investigated by measuring the magnetization loss in a stack, which consists of a number of tapes. First the magnetization loss in the single tape was measured in order to confirm the reliability of the loss data measured in the stack. The results for the single tape coincide well will the loss characteristics described in other previous works. For the stack In parallel and longitudinal magnetic fields the measured loss is Independent of both the number of tapes and stacking type. The longitudinal magnetization loss Is well explained rather by the slab model for decoupled filaments. For the tall stack in perpendicular field the measured loss at low fields is greatly decreased, compared to the loss of the single tape. However the loss at high fields is unaffected. These loss behaviors in the tall stack are well described by the slab model for full coupling.

Analytical Model of Double Gate MOSFET for High Sensitivity Low Power Photosensor

  • In this paper, a high-sensitivity low power photodetector using double gate (DG) MOSFET is proposed for the first time using change in subthreshold current under illumination as the sensitivity parameter. An analytical model for optically controlled double gate (DG) MOSFET under illumination is developed to demonstrate that it can be used as high sensitivity photodetector and simulation results are used to validate the analytical results. Sensitivity of the device is compared with conventional bulk MOSFET and results show that DG MOSFET has higher sensitivity over bulk MOSFET due to much lower dark current obtained in DG MOSFET because of its effective gate control. Impact of the silicon film thickness and gate stack engineering is also studied on sensitivity.
