  • The tensegrity structure by prestressed cable, which may have large freedom in scale and form and therefore are received much attention from the view points of their light weight and aesthetics, is a very flexible and geometrically unstable structure because the cable material has little initial rigidity. For the stable self-equilibrated state of the usually very deformable structure, the method to find the optimal initial stress by the shape analysis is proposed in this paper. The proposed procedure is to derive the nonlinear finite element formula of cable and truss members considering geometric nonlinearity and used to modified load incremental method adding to Newton-Raphson method with the proposed condition for optimal initial stress. The result of the shape analysis for the tensegrity structure with the radius of 30m is shown the almost approximated shape to architectural shape and the changed procedure of initial stress

  • This paper deals with the method of self-equilibrium stress mode analysis of cable dome structures. From the point of view of analysis, cable dome structure is a kind of unstable truss structure which is stabilized by means of introduction of prestressing. The prestress must be introduced according to a specific proportion among different structural member and it is determined by an analysis called self-equilibrium stress mode analysis. The mathematical equation involved in the self-equilibrium stress mode analysis is a system of linear equations which can be solved numerically by adopting the concept of Moore-Penrose generalized inverse. The calculation of the generalized inverse is carried out by rank factorization method. This method involves a parameter called epsilon which plays a critical role in self-equilibrium stress mode analysis. It is thus of interest to investigate the range of epsilon which produces consistent solution during the analysis of self-equilibrium stress mode.

  • This study deals with the estimation of the crack width by stabilized cracking considering bond-slip relationships in reinforced concrete members. The proposed method utilizes the sameness of tension stiffening and a change of bond-slip relationships because of concrete's splitting. The validity, accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are established by comparing the analytical results with the experimental date and the major code spcifications. The analytical results of analysis presented in this study indicate that the proposed method can be effectively estimated the crack width of the reinforced concrete members.

  • Lasers are used as the source of the interferometers in the industrial field. These lasers need 2 requirements. The first is the narrow linewidth of laser for the long coherence length. The second is the stabilized frequency of laser for the precision measurement. Now HeNe lasers are mostly used and the frequency stability is about 10$^{-9}$ . In this paper, we construct the HeNe laser systems of frequency stabilization using typical 2 method, the beat frequency stabilization method and the intensity difference method. So, we get the frequency stabilities of 2.01$\times$10$^{-9}$ (0.1s), 3.4$\times$10$^{-9}$ (0.1s).

  • A method to design a boundary controller for global stabilization of three-dimensional nonlinear dynamics of flexible marine risers is presented in this paper. Equations of motion of the risers are first developed in a vector form. The boundary controller at the top end of the risers is then designed based on Lyapunov's direct method. Proof of existence and uniqueness of the solutions of the closed loop control system is carried out by using the Galerkin approximation method. It is shown that when there are no environmental disturbances, the proposed boundary controller is able to force the riser to be globally exponentially stable at its equilibrium position. When there are environmental disturbances, the riser is stabilized in the neighborhood of its equilibrium position by the proposed boundary controller.

  • The conventional closed-loop guidance commands are generated from a simplified point mass model for real time operations. In real situations, the generated guidance commands are applied to the original rigid body. This can cause attitude instability of the vehicle. In this paper, in order to solve the attitude instability problem in the guidance system sense, the influence of the guidance commands on a launch vehicle attitude is derived quantitatively. The checking method of the attitude stability conditions that uses Liapunov theorem is proposed, and the attitude stabilizing method is also proposed. The attitude stability is accomplished by subtracting the influence of the guidance commands that destabilize the vehicle attitude. The closed-loop guidance commands generated from the simplified point mass model may destabilize the vehicle attitude, which is verified through simulations. In this case, the vehicle attitude can be always stabilized with the proposed attitude stabilizing method without additive fuel consumption.

  • The properties and sinterabilities of the ZrO2-3m/oY2O3 powders prepared by coprecipitation were investigated. The specific surface area and the total proe volume were decreased with the increasing pH of the sediments. The partially stabilized zirconia powders were fine powders with high specific surface area. The powders prepared by freeze drying method showed low tendency for agglomeration, and the powders obtained from spray drying method showed fine powders and narrow pore size distribution. At 140$0^{\circ}C$, their relative densities were up to 96%.

  • Comparative analysis of driving inverters for piezo-electric transformer (PT) is performed and the suit- able drive circuit for portable devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA) is chosen with the experiment in this paper. As a result, a single-switch inverter with a small two winding reactor is chosen, and then the advantages of this method are clarified. It is also confirmed that the driving inverter with this method enables to realize a stabilized AC 400v output and 82% power efficiency from DC 3V input under the conditions of the variations of load current or input voltage from the experiments. • This paper is a study on Korean word recognition and suggest the method that stabilizes the state-transition in the HMM by applying the `inertia' to the feature vector sequences. In order to reduce the quantized distortion considering probability distribution of input vectors, we used SOFM, an unsupervised learning method, as a vector quantizer, By applying inertia to the feature vector sequences, the overlapping of probability distributions for the response path of each word on the self organizing feature map can be reduced and the state-transition in the Hmm can be Stabilized. In order to evaluate the performance of the method, we carried out experiments for 50 DDD area names. The results showed that applying inertia to the feature vector sequence improved the recognition rate by 7.4% and can make more HMMs available without reducing the recognition rate for the SOFM having the fixed number of neuron.

  • In survival analysis of observational data, the inverse probability weighting method and the Cox proportional hazards model are widely used when estimating the causal effects of multiple-valued treatment. In this paper, the two kinds of weights have been examined in the inverse probability weighting method. We explain the reason why the stabilized weight is more appropriate when an inverse probability weighting method using the generalized propensity score is applied. We also emphasize that a marginal hazard ratio and the conditional hazard ratio should be distinguished when defining the hazard ratio as a treatment effect under the Cox proportional hazards model. A simulation study based on real data is conducted to provide concrete numerical evidence.
