The Effect of Improved Crosslink Density on the Properties of Waterborne Polyurethanes Using Sol-Gel Process (졸-겔 법을 통한 수분산형 폴리우레탄 합성 및 가교밀도 개선에 따른 성능 연구)

  • Water-based systems are dominating the coating market because of worldwide VOCs regulations. Research is focusing especially on waterborne polyurethane (WPU) because of its unique mechanical and chemical properties. However, commercial WPU consists of linear thermoplastic polymers with polar groups on the main chain, which do not perform as well as solvent-borne PU in a two-pack system. In this study, APTES were used as a chain crosslink agent to overcome commercial WPU's limited performance. WPUs synthesized by using a sol-gel process were evaluated with FT-IR, particle analysis, TGA, tensile tests, pull-off tests, SEM, and EIS. The results showed that WPUs with added APTES had better thermal stability, mechanical properties, and water resistance than did WPUs without added APTES. Consequently, the sol-gel process increased the crosslink density of WPUs and modified the WPU's own properties.

On the System Development for the railway vehicle dynamic analysis based on integrated process environments (프로세스 통합 환경 기반의 철도차량 동역학 해석시스템 구축)

  • The dynamic performances of railway vehicles, such as ride comfort, stability and safety, have the opposite characteristics of response each other according to design changes of suspensions. For this reasons, it is necessary that multidisciplinary engineers join in design processes of the suspensions so as to satisfy the requirements of dynamic performance with design constraints. Sometimes iterative dynamic analyses are required so many times during the design processes. In this paper, the development of integrated process environments and the dynamic analyses of railway vehicles based on the environments are presented. Using agent and wrapping technologies, process managements about the work process and design parameters were set up under the distributed computing environments. Also, dynamic analyses on the sample railway vehicle were carried out and the efficiency and improvement in future work were discussed as results.

The Compatibilizing Effect of Maleic Anhydride in Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate (EVA)/Ethylene-${\alpha}$-Olefin Copolymers Blends

  • The compatibilizing effect of maleic anhydride (MA) in the immiscible blends of EVA22 (vinyl acetate content 22%)/ethylene-${\alpha}$-olefin copolymers with 1-butene (EtBC) and 1-octene (EtOC)) comonomers was studied. By adding 1, 2, and 3 phr of MA in the presence of dicumylperoxide, the morphology, tensile strength at break, and 100 and 300 % modulus of EVA22/EtBC and EVA22/EtOC blends were significantly enhanced. The melting point and crystallization point depression were observed upon the addition of MA. The changes in the ${\beta}$ transition and glass transition temperature of ethylene-${\alpha}$-olefin copolymers and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, respectively, indicate that MA plays a role of compatibilizer for these immiscible blends. The TGA thermograms, measured from the blends with MA, show that thermal stability is slightly enhanced with MA, indicating that MA acts as a reinforcing agent either by grafting or crosslinking with other copolymers.

A Study on the Properties of Light Weight Foamed Concrete Using Fine Aggregate (잔골재를 활용한 경량기포 콘크리트의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigates the fundamental properties of light weight foamed concrete with the variances in unit weight of concrete and adding ratio of stability agent(SA). Test showed that concrete adding SA slightly decreased fluidity but secured stable flow appearances without segregation of concrete components. All specimens in a standard condition represented that a sinking depth was not observed, while, in the wet condition, a specimen adding SA decreased the sinking depth $2{\sim}4mm$ more than control concrete. Compressive strength values of control concrete showed $0.03{\sim}0.3MPa$ higher than the concrete adding SA. As for the tensile strength, the specimen adding SA also had lower value, while the ratios of comp. to tens. strength presented $0.43{\sim}0.62$, which is relatively higher than ordinary concrete.

  • 분산 시스템 아기텍처에 기반한 이동 에이전트는 현재 클라이언트/서버 패러다임을 이어갈 새로운 패러다임으로 인식되고 있다. 이에 따라, 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에 적합한 시스템 구성을 위해 에이전트와 이동 에이전트 등에 대한 많은 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 에이전트, 이동 에이전트, 다중 에이전트에 대한 연구들이 기능적인 특성에만 집중되어 왔다. 기능적인 특성은 에이전트와 이동 에이전트가 가지는 기본적인 특성으로서 에이전트들 간의 협동, 협력, 지능을 위한 합리성, 지식 모델링, 추론 방법이다. 그러나 분산 컴퓨팅 환경에서 분산 시스템 구성을 위해 전체 시스템의 성능(Performance), 확장성(Scalability), 안정성(Stability)등이 간과되어서는 안된다. 이런 연구 영역은 기능적인 특성을 다루는 연구영역에 비해 실용적인 면에서 더욱 중요하며, 그 중요성이 점점 더 증가하고 있다. 본 논문은 시스템 성능 향상을 위해 에이전트 간 협력과 협의 레벨의 계층 구조에 중점을 둔다.

Process and characterization of an electrochromic film made of silica-polyaniline composite nanoparticle

  • Composite nanoparticles of silica-polyaniline were synthesized and tested as an electrochromic material. For the optical application, the size of the nanoparticle was intended to be less than 100 nm in diameter. The synthesis was done by using a microemulsion synthesis method where the silica-polyaniline composite nanoparticle was obtained by dispersing two acidic aqueous phases containing aniline and polymerization agent, respectively. Microstructure analysis such as TEM and BET surface area measurement showed the possibility that polyaniline is incorporated in porous silica structure. The composite structure of the particle was proved to enhance chemical stability of the prepared electrochromic film.

  • Microencapsulation of sodium ascorbate with cellulose acetate phthalate(CAP) by coacervation/ phase separation method were carried out. Various factors affecting microencapsulation, i.e., surfactant concentration. CAP concentration, stirring speed and treatment of spermaceti as a sealing agent were studied. Dissolution rate. particle size distribution, surface feature and stability test were investigated. CAP microcapsules prepared using 0.5% span 80 as a surfactant showed smooth and round surfaces. The release of sodium ascorbate was retarded by microencapsulation with CAP and by sealant treatment with spermaceti. When triturated with sodium bicarbonate, CAP microcapsules were more stable than unencapsulated sodium ascorbate under various RH conditions at $37^{\circ}C$.

Consensus of Leader-Follower Multi-Vehicle System

  • According to the characteristics of salvo attack for the multiple flight vehicles (MFV), the design of cooperative guidance law can be converted into the consensus problem of multi-vehicle system through the concept of multi-agent cooperative control. The flight vehicles can be divided into leader and followers depending on different functions, and the flight conditions of leader are independent of the ones of followers. The consensus problem of leader-follower multi-vehicle system is researched by graph theory, and the consensus protocol is also presented. Meanwhile, the finite time guidance law is designed for the flight vehicles via the finite time control method, and the system stability is also analyzed. Whereby, the guidance law can guarantee the line of sight (LOS) angular rates converge to zero in finite time, and hence the cooperative attack of the MFV can be realized. The effectiveness of the designed cooperative guidance method is validated through the simulation with a stationary target and a moving target, respectively.

  • It has been problematic to repulp the dry broke treated with permanent wet strength agents like PAE, UF and MF. Solution type GPAM has the benefit of easy repulping but it has problems of cocross-linking and tends to gel. Therefore, the product concentration must be lower than 10% to reduce the gel generation problem. We developed emulsion type GPAM by an inverse emulsion technology to resolve both the repulping problem with permanent wet strength agents and the stability problem of GPAM solution products.

Chemical Modification of Wood with Alkylene Oxides, Vinylpirrolidinone and Furans:Effects on Dimensional Stabilization

  • The effect of propylene oxide, butylene oxide, furan resin, and vinylpyrrolidinone in controlling wood dimensional stability have been examined. Wood in the green or ovendry condition was treated with various chemical treatments using a vacuum-pressure procedure, and treated specimens were tested for tangential sweelling, moisture gain, and changes in sorption hysteresis. Results' indicate that propylene oxide, and butylene oxide enhanced with the crosslin king agent trimethylol propane trimethacrylate and applied to ovendry wood were the most efficient chemical treatments in controlling tangential sweeling caused by liquid water or water vapor, and in reducing water vapor adsorption. The sorption behavior of treated wood as depicted by the ratios of sorption was "very favorable" in most instances. In the particular case of furan resin treatments, ratios of sorption were improved from 25 to 100 percent as compared to those of untreated wood.
