호박 흰가루병의 피해 해석 및 경제적 방제수준 설정 (Yield Loss Assessment and Economic Thresholds of Squash Powdery Mildew Caused by Sphaerotheca fuliginea)

  • 호박 흰가루병의 수량감수 모델, 요방제 수준 및 경제적 방제수준을 산출하기 위하여 2008년부터 2년간 포장에서 시험하였다. 호박 흰가루병은 정식 후 50일경인 6월 하순에 발생하기 시작하여 7월 하순~8월 상순에 가장 심하였고, 그 이후 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 흰가루병의 발병정도와 수확 과실수, 과실의 생체중, 수량(생체중$\times$수확 과실수)간에는 고도의 부의 상관이 있었고 생체중과 상품과율은 정의 상관을 보였다. 흰가루병의 발병수준(X)에 따른 호박의 수량(Y) 추정 단순직선회귀식은 Y = -10.399X + 6607.5였고 결정계수($R^2$)는 0.9700으로 모델의 적합도가 매우 높았다. 방제비용을 고려하지 않은 흰 가루병의 요방제 수준은 병반면적율 6.5%였으며, 방제비용을 정당화 시킬 수 있는 경제적 피해수준은 병반면적율 21.6%였고, 농가에서 실제로 적용 가능한 경제적 방제수준은 병반면적율 17.3%로 산출되었다.

시설재배지에서 기수담수화시스템 적용에 따른 토양 환경 및 애호박의 생육 영향 분석 (Effects of the Brackish Water Desalination System on Soil Environment and Growth in Squash Greenhouse Cultivation Area)

  • The objectives of the research were 1) to develop the low-cost and high efficient desalination system to treat brackish water having high salt contents for irrigation at greenhouses near coast, and 2) to monitor and assess the effects of the brackish water desalination system on soil environment and growth in squash greenhouse cultivation area. The monitoring site was one of the squash greenhouse cultivation farm at Choengam-ri, Jinsang-myun, Gwangyang-si, Jeonnam-Do Monitoring results for groundwater irrigation water quality, and salinity showed a remarkable difference between control and treatment group. The salinity of soil at treatment group was less than at control group. While, the system made possible to increase the squash quantity from 4.7 ea to 6.3 ea at each and the average weight of the harvested squash was increased from 277.2 g to 295.1 g. The applied brackish water desalination system may be appled to reclaim sea or brackish irrigated area as alternative water resources, although long-term monitoring is needed to get more representative results at different level of salinity.

Analysis of Symptom Determinant of Cucumber mosaic virus RNA3 via Pseudorecombinant Virus in Zucchini Squash

  • Isolates of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) collected in Korea, were compared with their pathological features in tobacco and zucchini squash. Full-length cDNA clone of RNA3 was generated by using long-distance RT-PCR. Transcript RNA3 from the cDNA clone was inoculated onto host plants with transcripts RNA1 and RNA2 of Fny strain, generating RNA3-pseudorecombinant CMV. Timing and severity of systemic symptom was not significantly different among the pseudorecombinant CMVs in tobacco, compared with strains Fny-CMV and Pf-CMV. However, the pseudorecombinant CMVs induced two different systemic symptoms (mosaic vs. chlorotic spot) in zucchini squash. Based on symptom induction, the pseudorecombinant CMVs were categorized into two classes. The severity and timing of symptoms were correlated with viral RNA accumulations in systemic leaves of zucchini squash, suggesting that different kinetics of virus movement associated with CMV proteins are crucial for systemic infection and symptom development in zucchini squash. The analysis of movement proteins (MP) of CMV strains showed high sequence homology, but the differences of several amino acids were found in the C-terminal region between Class-I-CMV and Class-II-CMV. The analysis of coat proteins (CP) showed that the CMV isolates tested belonged to CMV subgroup I and the viruses shared overall 87-99% sequence identity in their genomes. Phylogenetic analysis of MP and CP suggested that biological properties of Korean CMV isolates have relationships associated with host species.

호박의 손쉬운 품질 평가를 위한 건물율 측정방법 이용 (Measuring Total Solids Quantity as Easy Method for Quality Evaluation of Squash Fruits)

  • 부식용 채소로 이용되는 호박의 과실 품질을 손쉽게 측정할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 실험한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 호박의 식미와 가장 관련이 갚은 성분 중 하나가 총고형물의 양으로, '풋호박'과 '서울마디호박'의 과실내 총고형물이 각각 6.4 및 7.5%이었고 'Ford Zucchini'와 시판 '쥬키니' 품종은 각각 4.7 및 4.3%로 나타나 관능검사로 조사한 식미의 선호도 정도와 거의 일치하였다. 2. 분리세대에서 초장과 과실 품질 관련형질과의 상관관계가 없음을 알 수 있어, 초장이 짧은 우수 계통을 육성하는 것이 어렵지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 3. 호박 과실을 건조시킨 후 무게를 측정하는 간이측정법으로 식미 품질을 파악할 수 있어, 호박을 재배하면서 손쉽게 품질을 평가할 수 있는 방법으로 활용될 것으로 생각된다.

인터페이스 상의 움직임에 만화적 기법 적용이 매력도와 주의에 미치는 영향 (The effects of cartoon style for interface motion on attraction and attention)

  • 기술적인 발전에 따라 다양한 인터페이스가 등장하고 있다. 2D 일색이었던 인터페이스에 3D가 등장하기 시작했고 정적이던 화면 구성에 움직이는 요소들이 더해지고 있다. 움직임이 있는 자극들이 인터페이스에 쓰이면서 그 적절한 사용에 대해 알아볼 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 이런 움직임에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 특히 움직임의 여러 속성 중에서도 움직임에 스타일을 줄 수 있는 스쿼시 & 스트레치의 적용에 초점을 두고 있다. 본 연구는 움직임에 스쿼시 & 스트레치 기법의 적용이 움직임의 매력도와 감성, 주의에 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 실험 1에서 참가자들은 스쿼시 & 스트레치 기법이 적용된 구와 적용되지 않은 구 모양 물체의 움직임을 보고 매력도와 움직임 관련 감성어휘를 평정하였다. 그 결과 스쿼시 & 스트레치 기법이 적용된 움직임을 더매력적으로 지각할 뿐만 아니라 해당 움직임을 더 밝고 적극적으로 지각하게 됨을 밝혔다. 실험 2는 스쿼시 & 스트레치가 적용된 구와 그렇지 않은 구를 화면에 동시에 제시하고, 참가자들이 변화를 탐지하는 반응시간을 측정했다. 그 결과 스쿼시 & 스트레치 기법이 적용된 움직임의 변화를 탐지하는 반응시간이 더 빨랐다. 이는 해당 움직임이 더 주의를 끌게 됨을 의미한다.

불균형 신체발달 스쿼시 선수들의 교정 프로그램 개발 연구 (A Developmental Study of an Alignment Program for the Asymmetrically Developed Squash Players)

  • Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of a body alignment correction program on asymmetrically developed squash players. Method : 30 experienced squash players who showed asymmetric body development, after evaluation of moire topography contour line shape, were involved in the experiment. All of them were right-handed and had more than five years of experience playing squash. Variables of body composition, moire topography and EMG were statistically compared between pre- and post- application of the 12-week body alignment correction program. The program consisted of 10-minute, left-handed forehand and backhand drive movements and 36 minutes performing 12 different yoga postures. Results : First, the body alignment correction program showed significant effects on the total weight, body fat percentage, and body mass index of the participants. Second, a decrease of right side inclined angles and an increase of left side inclined angles might result in a higher left-right symmetry rate and a better left-right balance; however the data was not statistically significant. Third, the EMG left-right deviation of erector spinae and latissimus decreased and the erector spinae muscle was thought to be more essential for vertebral movement and left-right asymmetry correction. Conclusion : A body alignment correction program, including yoga and opposite side exercises, could reduce left-right asymmetry.

LOW DISSIPATION OF EXCITATION ENERGY IN THE PHOTOSYNTHETIC MACHINERY OF CHILLING-SENSITIVE PLANTS DURING LOWTEMPERATURE PHOTOINHIBITION

  • Using a squash plant, a chilling-sensitive species, and a spinach plant, a chilling-resistant one, effects of chilling temperature on the photosynthetic machinery were studied in terms of chlorophyll fluorescence. When thylakoid membranes were isolated and subjected to incubation at different temperatures, spinach showed stable photosystem II activity at the low temperature side, in contrast to squash which showed quite severe inactivation at low temperature. When parameters of chlorophyll fluorescence were examined, chilling in darkness did not affect either Fv/Fm or photochemical and non-photochemical quenching, in both types of plants. However, chilling of squash plants under irradiance of medium intensity caused a specific decrease in Fv/Fm accompanied by a decline in energy-dependent quenching. Contrastingly, photosystem li of spinach plants were not much affected by light-chilling. When the pool size of zeaxanthin was examined after exposure to high light at different temperatures, squash plants was shown to have a much lower content of antheraxanthin + zeaxanthin, as compared to spinach plants, during low-temperature photoinhibition. These results suggest that chilling-sensitive plants have low capacity to dissipate excitation energy nonradiatively, when they are exposed to low-temperature photoinhibition, and, as a consequence, more vulnerable to photoinhibitory, damage to the photosynthetic apparatus.

Replicase and movement protein of Cucumber mosaic virus are symptom determinants in zucchini squash

  • A pepper strain of Cucumber mosaic virus (Pf-CMV) induces a mild chlorotic spot symptom in zucchini squash at 9 days post-inoculation (dpi), wile Fny strain of CMV causes severe mosaic and stunting symptom at 4 dpi in this host. Pseudorecombinants were constructed between the two strains, and assessments of symptom severity were indicated that both RNA2 and RNA3 were responsible for both mildness and the slow appearance of symptom elicited by Pf-CMV in zucchini squash. With various RNA2 and RNA3 chimeras between two strains of CMV, the genetic symptom determinants of phenotype of Pf-CMV were mapped to Tyr residue at positions amino acid 267 in 2a protein and at positions amino acid 168 in 3a movement protein (MP). Chimeras changed the sequences (both changed Tyr to lie) in the codons of both amino acid 168 of 3a MP and amino acid 267 of 2a protein were resulted in the high RNA accumulation, severity of symptom, and the rapid systemic spread, suggesting that 2a replicase as well as MP is involved in virus movement. The RNA accumulation pattern of all pseudorecombinants and chimeras are identical in protoplast of zucchini squash, indicating the virus movement is responsible for the phenotypes of two CMV strains rather than virus replication.

Biological Characterization and Sequence Analysis of Cucumber mosaic virus isolated from Capsicum annuum

  • Whereas most of isolates of Cucumber mosaic virus(CMV) can induce green mosaic systemic symptoms on zucchini squash, foliar symptoms of a pepper isolate of CMV (Pf-CMV)-infected zucchini squash revealed systemic chlorotic spots. To assess this biological property, infectious full-length cDNA clones of Pf-CMV were constructed using long-template RT-PCR. The complete nucleotide sequences of RNA2 and RNA3 of Pf-CMV were determined from the infectious fulllength cDNA clones, respectively. RNA 2 and RNA3 of Pf-CMV contain 3,070 nucleotides and 2,213 nucleotides, respectively. Overall sequence homology of two RNAs revealed high similarity (90%) between CMV strains, and 60% similarity to those of Tomato aspermy virus and Peanut stunt virus strains. By sequence analysis with known representative strains of CMV, Pf- CMV belongs to a typical member of CMV subgroup IA. The virus has high evolutionary relationship with Fny-CMV, but the pathology of Pf-CMV in zucchini squash was quite different from that of Fny-CMV. The pesudorecombinant virus, F1P2P3, induced chlorotic spot leaf symptom and timing of systemic symptom in squash plants, similar to the plants infected by Pf-CMV. No systemic symptoms were observed when Pf-CMVinoculated cotyledons were removed at 5 days postinoculation (dpi) while Fny-CMV showed systemic symptom at 2 dpi. These results suggest that the pepper isolate of CMV possesses unique pathological properties distinguishable to other isolates of CMVs in zucchini squash.

3D 애니메이션작품에서 효율적인 스트레치와 스쿼시 적용 비교 분석에 관한 연구 -<톰과 제리(Tom and Jerry)>와 <인크레더블(The Incredibles)>을 중심으로- (A Study of Analysis and Comparison about Effective 'Stretch and Squash' in 3D Animation -Focusing on and -)

  • 셀 애니메이션에서 캐릭터들의 움직임은 생동감이 느껴지는 예술이라고 생각을 한다. 자연스럽게 잘 표현된 움직임은 내용을 한층 더 재미있게도 극적으로도 장면을 충실하게 설명하기에 충분 하다고 본다. 그리고 아직은 역사가 얼마 되지 않았지만 3D애니메이션이라는 장르가 우리에게 가까이 다가오게 되면서 적지 않은 새로움과 문제점을 동시에 보여 주었다. 그 중 문제점의 하나인 캐릭터의 동작에서 나타난 어색함이다. 즉 파장된 동작의 표현이 어려웠던 것이다. 종전에는 3D애니메이션 제작 기술력을 기반으로 캐릭터에 ‘스트레치& 스쿼시(Stretch &Squash)’ 의 동작 표현은 어려운 일이었으며, 그다지 효율적이지 못한 방법이었기에 표현을 하고자 하지 않았었다. 그런데 오늘날의 발달된 소프트웨어적인 기술력으로 바로 이러한 한계를 극복하고 새로운 형식의 캐릭터 무빙을 보여 줄 수 있게 되었다. 셀 애니메이션과 3D애니메이션에서 이러한 주제로 비교 분석하고자한다.
