  • Three strains of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) have been found to cause a lethal disease, referred to as fern leaf syndromes and mild mosaic symptoms in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) crops grown in Kuwait. CMV strains were detected and identified based on host range, symptomatology, serology, electron microscopy, and ribonucleic acid (RNA) electrophoresis in polyacrylamide gels. A high degree of viral genomic heterogeneity was detected among CMV strains isolated in Kuwait, with no apparent correlation to symptomatology in tomato host plants. Two different virus satellites of 'CMV associated RNA 5', designated CARNA 5, were detected in two virus strains that caused both lethal disease and mild symptoms, designated CMV-D1 and CMV-S1 respectively. CARNA5 was not detected in the third CMV strain that caused fern leaf syndromes designated CMV-F. All the three isolated strains were serologically indistinguishable from each other and may belong to one serotype according to Ouchterlony gel diffusion tests. These strains transmitted via aphids (Myzus persicae Sulz) in a non-persistent manner. Physical properties of the virus strains were very similar where thermal inactivation test showed that virus withstood heating for 10 min at $70^{/circ}$, dilution end point was $10^{-4}$, and the longevity in vitro at room temperature was less than 5 days for all virus strains. CMV-D1 and CMV-F were the most devastating diseases spreading in both greenhouse and field-grown tomato where aborted flower buds failed on fruit setting due to the viral infection. This is the first report to isolate three different strains of CMV in Kuwait.

  • Industrial security research has shown a rapid increase over the past decade. With the establishment of the Korean Association for Industrial Security in 2008 and the establishment of the departments of industrial security in recent years, academic interests and research on industrial security are also spreading at a rapid pace. Although academic interest and research have grown in quantitative terms, research on theoretical fields that are the basis of academic systematization is extremely limited. There is a focus on the issue of specific issues and practical solutions without worrying about the theoretical basis including conceptualization. Therefore, in most studies, the concept of industrial security remains at the level of accepting the concept applied in the previous research. Most industrial security research focuses on the specific topic of 'industrial technology protection' because it considers the concept of industrial security to be reduced to industrial technology protection. Although industrial security is composed of a wide range of fields, recognizing a specific field as an entirety of industrial security appears to be a serious problem. As a result, the concept of industrial security in industrial security research is being used ambiguously, incorrectly, and conveniently. It is necessary to accurately and recognize the concept of industrial security based on logical clarity and empirical feasibility.

  • Two types of Tb- and Na-substituted green phosphors $Ca_{(1-1.5x)}WO_4:Tb_x^{3+}$: and $Ca_{(1-2x)}WO_4:Tb_x^{3+},Na_x^+$ were synthesized with various x values, using a solid-state reaction. The former phosphors contained both substitutional and vacancy point defects, while the later had only substitutional defects. X-ray diffraction results showed that the main diffraction peak, (112), was centered at $2{\theta}=28.72^{\circ}$ and indicated that there was no basic structural deformation caused by substitutions or vacancies. The photoluminescence emission and photoluminescence excitation spectra revealed the optical properties of trivalent terbium ions, $Tb^{3+}$. Typical transitions, $^5D_3{\rightarrow}^7F_6,\;^7F_5,\;^7F_4$ and $^5D_4{\rightarrow}^7F_6,\;^7F_5,\;^7F_4,\;^7F_3$, and cross relaxations were observed. Subtle differences in the photoluminescence of green phosphors were observed as a result of the point defects. The FT-IR spectra indicated that some of the ungerade vibrational modes had shifted positions and changed shapes, spreading out over a wide range of frequencies. This change can be attributed to the different masses of $Tb^{3+}$ and $Na^+$ ions and $V_{Ca}$" vacancies compared to $Ca^{2+}$ ions. The gerade normal modes of the Raman spectra exhibited subtle differences resulting from point defects in $Ca_{(1-1.5x)}Tb_xWO_4$ and $Ca_{(1-2x)}Tb_xNa_xWO_4$.

  • The social network service is the bidirectional media that all of the users are be able to directly produce, process, and distribute the information without distinction of the producer and consumer. Over increasing the users rapidly, the users are be able to obtain and share the various information, but the problems occur due to the spread of unreliable information on the service. Moreover, it is spreading the problems violating the privacy and decreasing the reliability of the users by exploiting the open environment. Therefore, sensitive information can be delivered only to users which information producer can trust, and the users should get the information from the trustworthy users. Due to this necessity, it needs the efficient method can evaluates the reliability of the users. In this paper, we define the reliability in the service, make the trust parameter by using the function of the service, and propose the dynamic user reliability evaluation scheme evaluating the reliability of users. We draw the trust range on the reliability of users by analyzing the proposed reliability evaluation scheme.

  • Silicone-based surfactants consist of a hydrophobic organosilicone group coupled to one or more hydrophilic polar groups, while the hydrophobic groups of hydrocarbon surfactants are hydrocarbons. Silicone surfactants have been widely used in many industrial fields starting from polyurethane foam to construction materials, cosmetics, paints & inks, agrochemicals, etc., because of their low surface tension, lubricity, spreading, water repellency and thermal and chemical stability. A wide range of silicone surfactant structures are required to provide the functional diversity for reflecting the necessities in the various applications. This review covers the basic properties and the synthetic schemes of polydimethylsiloxane and reactive polysiloxanes as hydrophobic siloxane backbones, the main reaction schemes, such as hydrosilylation reaction, for coupling reactive polysiloxanes to hydrophilic groups, and the synthetic schemes of the main polysiloxane surfactants including polyether-, ionic-, carbohydrate-type surfactants.

  • Flame spread experiments of a fuel droplet array were performed using a microgravity environment. N-decane, 1-octadecene, and the blends (50% : 50% vol.) of these fuels were used and the experiments were conducted at pressures up to 5.0 MPa, which are over the critical pressure of these fuels. Observations of the flame spread phenomenon were conducted for OH radical emission images recorded using a high-speed video camera. The flame spread rates were calculated based on the time history of the spreading forehead of the OH emission images. The flame spread rate of the n-decane droplet-array decreased with pressure and had its minimum at a pressure around half of the critical pressure and then increased again with pressure. It had its maximum at a pressure over the critical pressure and then decreased gradually. The pressure dependence of flame spread rate of 1-octadecene were similar to those of n-decan, but the magnitude of the spread rate was much smaller than that of n-decane. The variation of the flame spread for the blended fuel was similar to that of n-decane in the pressure range from atmospheric pressure to near the critical pressure of the blended fuel. When the pressure increased further, it approached to that of 1-octadecene. Numerically estimated gas-liquid equilibrium states proved that almost all the fuel gas which evaporated from the droplet at ordinary pressure consisted of n-decane whereas near and over the critical pressure, the composition of the fuel gas was almost the same as that of the liquid phase, so that the effects of 1-octadecene on the flame spread rate was significant.

  • FTA is acting as a central axis to accomplish the worldwide trade liberalization as FTA has been globally spreading with competition. As the global economic depression and the trend of new protectionism are getting grave, and the trade liberalization of GATT and WTO is getting delayed, FTA is spread as an alternative. FTA is often called as RTA: Regional Trade Agreement(regional free trade agreement) which takes place mainly around the neighbor nations or regular districts, and these days, it is tending towards agreements between long distant nations, so, it's not limited to the regular districts. Among the FTA agreement items, in addition to the customs abolition, the opening and investment liberalization of service market like finance, communication etc., intellectual property rights are included in the government's target range. Korea also is actively proceeding FTA conclusion. Korean government has concluded the agreements with Singapore, european nations beginning from Chile concluded in 2003, and is proceeding more the negotiations with Japan, Canada, Mexico, India etc. Now in 2009, FTA of Korea-United States is actually waiting for just the passage of assembly ratification. But, if FTA becomes effective, because our domestic market should be entirely opened, it is expected that the blow against our domestic agricultural field which is weak, compared with that of the United States, a nation of worldwide agricultural products, is not an ordinary one. According to it, we need a whole plan to cope with, so, the purpose of this study is to suggest the strategy by comparing and analysing the Korean agricultural competitive power, and to find the other development stratagem.

  • Background: Cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide. A large proportion of cancer deaths are preventable through early detection but there are a range of social, emotional, cultural and financial dimensions that hinder the effectiveness of cancer prevention and treatment efforts. Cancer stigma is one such barrier and is increasingly recognized as an important factor influencing health awareness and promotion, and hence, disease prevention and control. The impact and extent of stigma on the cancer early detection and care continuum is poorly understood in India. Objectives: To evaluate cancer awareness and stigma from multiple stakeholder perspectives in North India, including men and women from the general population, health care professionals and educators, and cancer survivors. Materials and Methods: A qualitative study was conducted with in-depth interviews (IDIs) and focus group discussions (FGDs) among 39 individuals over a period of 3 months in 2014. Three groups of participants were chosen purposively - 1) men and women who attended cancer screening camps held by the Indian Cancer Society, Delhi; 2) health care providers and 3) cancer survivors. Results: Most participants were unaware of what cancers are in general, their causes and ways of prevention. Attitudes of families towards cancer patients were observed to be positive and caring. Nevertheless, stigma and its impact emerged as a cross cutting theme across all groups. Cost of treatment, lack of awarenes and beliefs in alternate medicines were identified as some of the major barriers to seeking care. Conclusions: This study suggests a need for spreading awareness, knowledge about cancers and assessing associated impact among the people. Also Future research is recommended to help eradicate stigma from the society and reduce cancer-related stigma in the Indian context.

  • In this paper, BER(Bit Error Ratio) performances of the TransferJet system, which is the standard of a close proximity inductive wireless communication system, are presented and analyzed. Comparing to other wireless communication systems, the TransferJet system has some advantages such as short communication range(i.e., high security in the wireless communication environments), fewer effects of multipath distortion, and higher transmission rate. In order to demodulate the received signal, either SC(Soft-decision Combining) or HC(Hard-decision Combining) can apply to the despreader and demodulator of the receiver. When the spreading factor is more than 4, the SC scheme approximately has a minimum signal-to-noise ratio gain of 2 dB over the HC scheme. Moreover, from simulation results, we can conclude that the quantization bits of 3 bits are an optimum value for the SC scheme in the TransferJet system since the 3-bit quantization achieves nearly the performance as that attained by double-precision floating-point.
