  • Purpose - Media is a significant distributional channel in sport. In terms of determining the influencer in building sport media contents, recent sport media studies have employed agenda-setting theory, assuming media itself as the agenda provider. In a real-world situation, however, sports stars have been deemed key factor determining distribution contents in sport. The starting point of this study is the "tacit premise" of agenda-setting theory. Given the agenda-setting theory, the current study attempted to explore the function of sport stars as an agenda provider, which is a key determinant of sport distribution. Research design, data, and methodology - This study has reviewed articles of Yuna Kim, Sang-hwa Lee, and Hyun-jin Ryu from daily newspapers including as dong-a ilbo and joongang ilbo (2013 to 2017). The study collected data, portable document format (PDF), from the online archive of dong-a ilbo and joongang ilbo. We coded the length of the article, the frequency, the size of the picture, and the structural form of the article. Inter-coder reliability was compared with data previously investigated by the researcher. Inter-coder reliabilities for study 1 and 2 was .89 and .85. To examine hypotheses, descriptive analysis, correlations, and cross-tap analysis were performed. Results - The results partially supported the hypotheses proposing the significant role of sports stars as the agenda setters in distributing sport media contents. In specific, the study found that the number of articles about sports stars prevailed the number of articles about regular athletes. Besides, studies found that the use of photos was more frequent in articles of sports starts than that of regular athletes. In sports newspaper articles, featured story articles were used more than straight-articles for news relating to sports stars. Also, sports newspaper of sports stars contained more information associated within an event rather than outside of an event. Conclusions - In sports journalism, this study challenges the current theory that the media affects the composition and the content of sports coverages. As the principle of the agenda-setting of sports media, the influence of sports stars must be continuously studied along with a follow-up study.

  • The influences of sporting shoe brands wants to exert on consumers in the sports shoe market has been tried in many forms, and its effectiveness has also been proven. A variety of marketing strategies are being proven by each brand that they consider to be worth using. However, marketing strategies using sports shoe collectors have never been empirically proven in their influence. This is because the collecting behaviors shown in the traditional sports shoe market is very low in comprehension. This study was initiated by critical thought that determined a new marketing strategy was needed in the sports shoe market, which is considered to be somewhat limited, and is aimed at setting and demonstrating the path to influence in establishing a marketing strategy using sports shoe collectors. To achieve the purposes of this study, 231 consumers who were exposed to stimuli for describing the products of a hypothetical sports shoe collectors were used. For data analysis, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, and confirmative factors analysis and structural equation method using PASW 21.0 and AMOS 20.0 were used. Based on the results derived from this study, we have found a new path to a new marketing strategy based on the expertise held by sports shoe collectors in the sports shoe market, which we hope will serve as one of the new growth engines for the sluggish sports shoe market in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the feasible policy directions for sports welfare that can not only improve the standard of living through health but also ensure a happy and enjoyable life for the people of Gangwon Province. For this purpose, I have conducted studies such as the analysis on the sports class voucher project being implemented by the South Korean government and the case analysis in sports welfare, and present policy directions as follows. First of all, it is about upgrading the sports class voucher project. And as its implementation plans, I suggest ① increased publicity, ② the earmarking of the province's own budget for the sports class voucher project, ③ the establishment of a system for cooperation for work implementation between the related organizations and their staff in charge with a view to activating the sports class voucher project, and ④ the upgraded services for the sports class voucher project and the upgraded access to the life cycle-based universal welfare. Second, it is about using public sports facilities and developing various programs. I suggest the active utilization of the public sports facilities that enable people to learn the skills for such sports disciplines as baseball, badminton, ice sports, and golf and the development and distribution of distinctive educational programs for dance for media entertainment shows for female youths, climbing, cheer leading, fencing, surfing and horseback riding. Third, it is about nurturing the human resources and networking. For this, I suggest the creation of 'Sports Welfare Specialist Training Program' and the training of the college students majoring in sports science with the aim of creating a number of jobs. Fourth, it is about refurbishing the system and establishing the support system. I suggest the dismantling of the partitions in the welfare policy related to sports activities and the formation of (tentatively named) 'Gangwon Province Sports Welfare Implementation Committee', and the creation of (tentatively named) 'Sports Welfare Project Support Team' in Health, Welfare & Women's Affairs Bureau or Culture, Tourism and Sports Bureau in the short term and then its long-term expansion into (tentatively named) 'Gangwon Province Sports Welfare Support Center' in responding to the needs that reflect the provincial demographics, with a view to establishing a single lineup for the administrative support system. Furthermore, as budget and manpower are needed to realize customized sports welfare that suits the characteristics of the province and in which all the provincial residents can collect benefits, I suggest that the province provide the legal basis through creating 'Ordinance Promoting Sports Welfare in Gangwon Province' and pushing forward with (tentatively named) 'Gangwon Province Sports Welfare Competition' as what revises the sports class voucher project for the purpose of broadening the basis for sports welfare promotion.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the effects of dance sports programs on the parameters of health promotion (blood pressure, pulse, glucose, blood lipids, musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, self-efficacy, and depression) in rural women. Methods: A non-equivalent control group pretest-posttest experimental design was used. The study subjects were 38 women who were aged 45-78 and cultivating perilla leaves in a rural area. An experimental group (n=20) received the dance sports program from December 3rd, 2009 to June 3rd, 2010 and a control group (n=18) did not. Data was collected 3 times (before the program, 12 during and 24 weeks after the program) and were analyzed with $X^2$ test, t-test, and Repeated Measures ANOVA using SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: For the experimental group, significant improvement was found in high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low density cholesterol (LDL-C), triglyceride (TG) musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, self-efficacy, and depression as compared to the control group. Conclusion: The findings of the study indicates that the dance sports program is effective on health promotion for rural women. Therefore, dance sports programs can be recommended for health promotion of rural residents.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the reaction of recovery for the fatigue by sports massage treatment after Taekwondo training and then to verify the effectiveness. Subject : The subjects of this study were all the 20 high school Taekwondo players divided into two groups (rest recovery group and sports massage group) selected by systematic random assignment sampling. Method : The variables were the level of hemoglobin, lactic acid and glucose, and measured at rest, immediately-after exercise and 30-minute recovery. The data from this study were analyzed by using one-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test. Results : The results are as follows ; 1. The measurement of the hemoglobin, there was not the significant differences between experiment group and control group. 2. The lactate showed lower in the experiment group than in the control group in 30-minute recovery (p<.001). 3. The glucose showed lower in the experiment group than in the control group in 30-minute recovery (p<.01). So I think the sports massage treatment is more effective in the relief of fatigue than static rest method during the recovery after sports. However the massage treatment influence on the activation of metabolism according to the intensity and the duration of sports, and vary the effect of treatment according to the method and execution time. Therefore the longitudinal investigation of the variation by the long time massage through the more detailed program must be requisite for us.
