We present a new code for solving non-LTE radiative transfer problems in a general grid (RIG). RIG develops from RATRAN code (Hogerheijde & van der Tak 2000) using the Accelerated Monte-Carlo method, and it can cope with line overlap effect among multiple molecular and atomic species. In this algorithm we make grids in arbitrary coordinates adequate to the problem, but, on the other hand, photons propagate in the Cartesian coordinates. For spherical, cylindrical and other well defined coordinate, the problem of tracing photon's path reduces to solving simple quadratic equations. For example, the outflow in the star formation have high dynamic range in scales from a few AU to ~ 0.1 pc and have also cylindrical symmetry. So, we have used (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate system, where r is the distance from the origin and ${\alpha}$ is z/ R2 in the cylindrical coordinate of (R,z). The (r, ${\alpha}$) coordinate realizes the density - power function of r - and temperature distributions of the problems with smaller numbers of grid than the cylindrical coordinate does, and the former consumes less time to solve the problems than the latter.

As demands on the precision bevel gears are increased in the related industry, the exact kinematical investigations of a pair of spherical involute bevel gears are required for the computer aided design. The exact angular velocity ratio based on the characteristics of the spherical involute tooth is derived and verified from the relationship between rotational angles. Elementary kinematics of the gearsets is investigated by applying the transformation of the coordinate systems. The tooth contact lines based on logarithmic tooth-wise curve are examines in three dimentional space. Contact ratio is formulated and simulated according to the system parameters such as shaft angles, pressure angle, and spiral angles. The condition of teeth interference is dervied and the critical numbers of gear teeth are calculated. The whole surface geometry of a spiral bevel gearsets are discretized and visualized by a computer graphic tool.
Analytical solutions of the reactant concentration inside porous spherical catalytic particles were obtained from unsteady reaction-diffusion equation by applying eigenfunction expansion method. Various surface concentrations as exponentially decaying or oscillating function were considered as boundary conditions to solve the unsteady partial differential equation as a function of radial distance and time. Dirac delta function was also used for the instantaneous injection of the reactant as the surface boundary condition to calculate average reactant concentration inside the particles as a function of time by Laplace transform. Besides spherical morphology, other geometries of particles, such as cylinder or slab, were considered to obtain the solution of the reaction-diffusion equation, and the results were compared with the solution in spherical coordinate. The concentration inside the particles based on calculation was compared with the bulk concentration of the reactant molecules measured by photocatalytic decomposition as a function of time.
This paper presents a rigorous solution for spherical cavity expansion in unsaturated soils under constant suction condition. The hydraulic behavior that describes the saturation-suction relationship is modeled by a void ratio-dependent soil-water characteristic curve, which allows the hydraulic behavior to fully couple with the mechanical behavior that is described by an extended critical state soil model for unsaturated soil through the specific volume. Considering the boundary condition and introducing an auxiliary coordinate, the problem is formulated to a system of first-order differential equations with three principal stress components and suction as basic unknowns, which is solved as an initial value problem. Parameter analyses are conducted to investigate the effects of suction and the overconsolidation ratio on the overall expansion responses, including the pressure-expansion response, the distribution of the stress components around the cavity, and the stress path of the soil during cavity expansion. The results reveal that the expansion pressures and the distribution of the stress components in unsaturated soils are generally higher than those in saturated soils due to the existence of suction.

This paper is devoted to investigate the feasibility of using a medium power ground-based laser to produce a torque on LEO satellites of various shapes. The laser intensity delivered to a satellite is calculated using a simple model of laser propagation in which a standard atmospheric condition and linear atmospheric interaction mechanism is assumed. The laser force is formulated using a geocentric equatorial system in which the Earth is an oblate spheroid. The torque is formulated for a cylindrical satellite, spherical satellites and for satellites of complex shape. The torque algorithm is implemented for some sun synchronous low Earth orbit cubesats. Based on satellites perigee height, the results demonstrate that laser torque affecting on a cubesat has a maximum value in the order of $10^{-9}$ which is comparable with that of solar radiation. However, it has a minimum value in the order of $10^{-10}$ which is comparable with that of gravity gradient. Moreover, the results clarify the dependency of the laser torque on the orbital eccentricity. As the orbit becomes more circular it will experience less torque. So, we can conclude that the ground based laser torque has a significant contribution on the low Earth orbit cubesats. It can be adjusted to obtain the required control torque and it can be used as an active attitude control system for cubesats.
The Earth's magnetic field acquired from KOMPSAT-1's TAM (Three-Axis Magnetometer) between June 19th and 21st 2000 was analyzed. The TAM, one of the KOMPSAT-1's Attitude and Orbit Control Subsystems, plays an important role in determining and controlling the satellite's attitude. This also can provide new insight on the Earth's magnetic field. By transforming the satellite coordinate from ECI to ECEF, spherical coordinate of total magnetic field was achieved. These data were grouped into dusk (ascending) and dawn (descending) data sets, based on their local magnetic times. This partitioning is essential for performing 1-D WCA (Wavenumber Correlation Analysis). Also, this enhances the perception of external fields in the Kompsat-1's TAM magnetic maps that were compiled according to different local. The dusk and dawn data are processed independently and then merged to produce a total field magnetic anomaly map. To extract static and dynamic components, the 1-D and 2-D WCAs were applied to the sub-parallel neighboring tracks and dawn-dusk data sets. The static components were compared with the IGRF, the global spherical harmonic magnetic field model. The static and dynamic components were analyzed in terms of corefield, external, and crustal signals based on their origins.
In this paper, I suggested the character recognition methods which are used the centroid method and included the spherical transform from the rectangle coordination for the character recognition system and obtained the results of the above 78.14% average differential ratio for the character features. The character feature extraction system using the spherical transform method is suggested in this paper, and the possibilities of the method which is get the invariant feature for the character transition using the centroid are suggested through the differential ratio results.

Free surface fluid oscillation in prolate spheroidal tanks has been investigated analytically in this study. This paper aims is to investigate the sloshing frequencies in spheroidal prolate tanks and compare them with conventional cylindrical and spherical containers to select the best tank geometry for use in space launch vehicles in which the volume of fuel is very high. Based on this, the analytical method (Fourier series expansion) and potential fluid theory in the spheroidal coordinate system are used to extract and analyze the governing differential equations of motion. Then, according to different aspect ratios and other parameters such as filling levels, the fluid sloshing frequencies in the spheroidal prolate tank are determined and evaluated based on various parameters. The natural frequencies obtained for a particular tank are compared with other literature and show a good agreement with these results. In addition, spheroidal prolate tank frequencies have been compared with sloshing frequencies in cylindrical and spherical containers in different modes. Results show that when the prolate spheroidal tank is nearly full and in the worst case when the tank is half full and the free fluid surface is the highest, the prolate spheroidal natural frequencies are higher than of spherical and cylindrical tanks. Therefore, the use of spheroidal tanks in heavy space launch vehicles, in addition to the optimal use of placement space, significantly reduces the destructive effects of sloshing.
The eye movement of the eyeball's center of a rotation can represent with the rotation matrix $R_x$, $R_y$, $R_z$ due to a coordinate axis rotation transformation of Cartesian coordinate, and describes of an abduction, an adduction, an elevation, a depression, an intorsion, an extorsion in principle rotation six forms of the eye. The eye movement from primary eye position to tertiary eye position could be composed with the rotation matrix combination, and by the primary rotation of six and the secondary rotation of eight, could be represented with the extrocular muscle of six. The position of the cornea vertex point or pupil point due to the eye movement can describe to transform the rotation matrix of the cartesian coordinate to spherical coordinate$(r,{\theta},{\phi})$.
Previous image processing techniques based on plane-to-plane transformations cannot be utilized for spherical panoramic images. In this paper, we propose a new method to inpaint a spherical panoramic image using exemplar, which is deformed by the location of the patch. Our proposed method makes the deformed exemplar patch by latitude and uses it as the reference patch to restore the damaged area. The exemplar-based inpainting method is based on the planar image coordinate system and thus the classical method cannot be applied to the spherical panoramic image. The merit of our proposed method is the fact that it is not dependent on the location of the damaged area. From the experimental results, we proved that our proposed method satisfies the original purpose of the exemplar-based inpainting technique for the spherical panoramic image.
