The result of recent seismic hazard analysis indicates that the ground motion response spectra for Korean nuclear power plant site have relatively large frequency acceleration contents. In the ordinary seismic fragility analysis of nuclear power plant structures and equipments, the safety margin of design ground response spectrum is directly used as a response spectrum shape factor. The effects of input response spectrum shape on the floor response spectrum were investigated by performing the direct generation of floor response spectrum from the ground response spectrum. The safety margin included in the design ground response spectrum should be considered as a floor response spectrum shape factor for the seismic fragility analysis of the equipments located in a building.
Vibration responses of a centrifugal pump required dynamic analysis for seismic qualification, were calculated by using spectrum analysis, which is known to be very simple compared with time domain analysis. Modal analysis was performed and the results were utilized in the spectrum analysis. The vibration responses calculated from the spectrum analysis were more conservative than those from the time domain analysis, that is, the former can be used as safer in design process. The pump was qualified for the specified seismic service conditions as specified in IEEE 344-1987. The maximum stresses were less than allowable stress limits. Based on the analysis results, it is concluded that the pump meets all the dynamic requirements of the applicable codes, standards, and technical specification.
Using the net analyte signal, hybrid linear analysis was proposed to predict chemical concentration. In this paper, we select a sample from training set and apply orthogonal signal correction to obtain an improved pseudo unit spectrum for hybrid least analysis. using the mean spectrum of a calibration training set, we first show the calibration by hybrid least analysis is effective to the prediction of not only chemical concentrations but also physical property variables. Then, a pseudo unit spectrum from a training set is also tested with and without orthogonal signal correction. We use two data sets, one including five chemical concentrations and the other including ten physical property variables, to compare the performance of partial least squares and modified hybrid least analysis calibration methods. The results show that the hybrid least analysis with a selected training spectrum instead of well-measured pure spectrum still gives good performances, which is a little better than partial least squares.

Response spectrum analysis method is widely used for seismic analysis of building structure. Analysis of structural vibration for equipment, machine and moving loads are executed by time history analysis. This method is very complex, difficult and tedious. In this study, maximum response of structure for this case are simply and fast. calculated by mode shape and response spectrum for excitation. At first, Response spectrum and time history analysis for some earthquake is carried and investigate the error of maximum displacement response for R. S. A. Secondly, The process for response spectrum analysis in excitation are calculated, and maximum model response are combined by CQC (Complete Quadratic Combination) methods. Finally, Combining maximum displacement response is compared with one of time history analysis.

The capacity spectrum method (CSM) is a simple and graphical seismic analysis procedure. Originally, it has been developed for buildings, but now its applicability has been extended to bridge structures. It is based on the capacity curve estimated by pushover analysis and demand spectrum reduced from linear elastic design spectrum by using effective damping or strength reduction factor. In this paper, the inelastic demand spectrum as the reduced demand spectrum is calculated from the linear elastic design spectrum by using the several formulas for the strength reduction factor. The effects of the strength reduction factor for the capacity spectrum analysis are evaluated for 3 types of symmetric and asymmetric bridge structures. To investigate an accuracy of the CSM which several formulas for strength reduction factor were applied, the maximum displacements estimated by the CSM are compared with the results obtained by nonlinear time history analysis for 8 artificially generated earthquakes. The maximum displacements estimated by the CSM using the SJ formula among the several strength reduction factors provide the most accurate agreement with those calculated by the inelastic time history analysis.

The Seismic probabilistic risk assessment (SPRA) or seismic margin assessment (SMA) have been used for the seismic safety evaluation of nuclear power plant structures and equipments. For the SPRA or SMA, the reference response spectrum should be defined. The site-specific median spectrum has been generally used for the seismic fragility analysis of structures and equipments in a Korean nuclear power plant Since the site-specific spectrum has been developed based on the peak ground motion parameter, the site-specific response spectrum does not represent the same probability of exceedance over the entire frequency range of interest. The uniform hazard spectrum is more appropriate to be used in seismic probabilistic risk assessment than the site- specific spectrum. A method for modifying the seismic fragility parameters that are calculated based on the site-specific median spectrum is described. This simple method was developed to incorporate the effects of the uniform hazard spectrum. The seismic fragility parameters of typical NPP components are modified using the uniform hazard spectrum. The modification factor is used to modify the original fragility parameters. An example uniform hazard spectrum is developed using the available seismic hazard data for the Korean nuclear power plant (NPP) site. This uniform hazard spectrum is used for the modification of fragility parameters.

A comparative study was performed for a suspension bridge to grasp the possible differences in seismic responses evaluated by several analytical methods. The items mainly investigated are the linear vs. nonlinear response the response spectrum method vs. the linear dynamic analysis method and the damping ratio and it's implementation into analysis procedures. According to the numerical example, it is found that the seismic responses are considerably affected by the damping-related parameters even though slight differences are shown depending on the response quantities md the exciting directions. On the other hand, it is also confirmed that the seismic responses are less affected by the analysis method-related parameters such as the response spectrum method vs. the linear dynamic analysis method, and the linear and nonlinear analysis method. The response spectrum method is expected to give conservative results for the examined bridge, provided that the design response spectrum in the Korean Highway Design Specification is modified according to the proper damping ratio.

OSA(Opportunistic Spectrum Access) allows secondary users not having a license for spectrum usage to opportunistically occupy an idle spectrum owned by a licensee named primary users. We propose two OSA schemes for un-slotted secondary users exploiting spectrum opportunities in un-slotted primary networks. We provide mathematical analysis and simulation results to reveal the impact of various system parameters.

In this paper, we deducted the missions with respect to Korea utility helicopter (KUH) and consist of the scenarios which describe proper purpose of KUH. And so developed fatigue load spectrum of KUH by applying Helix that is fatigue load spectrum for blade of articulated helicopter rotor system. The developed load spectrum is applied to fatigue analysis of blade by modeled finite element with stress-life method (S-N). And we compared the result of fatigue analysis to prior to Helix for the sake of verifying the load spectrum that we generated.
Based on the random vibration theory, a response spectrum method is developed for seismic response analysis of linear, multi-degree-of-freedom structures under multi-support excitations is developed. Various response quantities, including the mean and variance of the peak response, the response mean frequency, are obtained from proposed combination rules in terms of the mean response spectrum. This method makes it possible to apply the response spectrum to the seismic reliability analysis of structures subjected to multi-support excitations. Considering that the tedious numerical integration is required to compute the spectral parameters and correlation coefficients in above combination rules, this paper further offers simplified procedures for their computation, which enhance dramatically the computational efficiency of the suggested method. The proposed procedure is demonstrated for tow numerical examples: (1) two-span continuous beam; (2) two-tower cabled-stayed bridge by using Monte Carlo simulation (MC). For this purpose, this paper also presents an approach to simulation of ground motions, which can take into account both mean and variation properties of response spectrum. Computed results based on the response spectrum method are in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulation results. And compared with the MSRS method, a well-developed multi-support response spectrum method, the proposed method has an incomparable computational efficiency.
