An attempt has been made to do interpretation of the fast neutron dose with two threshold detectors incorporated with the Harwell criticality locket. This method is based on the assumption that the spectral distribution of fission neutrons in criticality accidents may be governed by one spectral parameter. The surface-absorbed dose for a unit fission neutron fluence seems to be insensitive to spectral shifts of the fission neutron spectrum. The average cross-sections for the activation detectors, however, are considerably changed with the neutron spectral shape, which may lead to a large error in calculating the dose from the reaction rate if one uses a fixed value for the average cross sections regardless of the neutron spectral distribution. Besides, the doses calculated from three representative formulae for fission neutron spectra have been compared : these formulae are Watt, Cranberg at al. and Maxwellian forms. The results obtained front the Maxwellian formula show a departure from the Watt and Cranberg's, both being similarly close.

This study estimates and evaluates the parameters to relate spectral intensities of aerial and terrestrial images through spectral analysis of each band. For the experiment, an aerial image covering the headquater of the Kyungpook National University was used and terrestrial images were taken by the Sony DSC-F828 DSLR camera. For finding the spectral correspondence, gray intensity, RGB variance, mean, standard deviation were computed, from which parameters of a linear model between patches of both images were computed and evaluated using check patches.
Energy-based seismic design of structures has gradually become prominent in today's structural engineering investigations because of being more rational and reliable when it is compared to traditional force-based and displacement-based methods. Energy-based approaches have widely taken place in many previous studies and investigations and undoubtedly, they are going to play more important role in future seismic design codes, too. This paper aims to compute the maximum earthquake energy input to elastic single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) systems for selected real ground motion records. A data set containing 100 real ground motion records which have the same site soil profiles has been selected from Pacific Earthquake Research (PEER) database. Response time history (RTH) analyses have been conducted for elastic SDOF systems having a constant damping ratio and natural periods of 0.1 s to 3.0 s. Totally 3000 RTH analyses have been performed and the maximum mass normalized earthquake input energy values for all records have been computed. Previous researchers' approaches have been compared to the results of RTH analyses and an approach which considers the pseudo-spectral velocity with Arias Intensity has been proposed. Graphs of the maximum earthquake input energy versus the maximum pseudo-spectral velocity have been obtained. The results show that there is a good agreement between the maximum input energy demands of RTH analysis and the other approaches and the maximum earthquake input energy is a relatively stable response parameter to be used for further seismic design and evaluations.
Probabilistic model of seismic demand is the main tool used for seismic demand estimation, which is a fundamental component of the new performance-based design method. This model seeks to mathematically relate the seismic demand parameter and the ground motion intensity measure. This study is intended to use Bayesian analysis to evaluate the accuracy of the seismic demand estimation of Steel moment resisting frames (SMRFs) through a completely Bayesian method in statistical calculations. In this study, two types of intensity measures (earthquake intensity-related indices such as magnitude and distance and intensity indices related to ground motion and spectral response including peak ground acceleration (PGA) and spectral acceleration (SA)) have been used to form the models. In addition, an extensive database consisting of sixty accelerograms was used for time-series analysis, and the target structures included five SMRFs of three, six, nine, twelve and fifteen stories. The results of this study showed that for low-rise frames, first mode spectral acceleration index is sufficient to accurately estimate demand. However, for high-rise frames, two parameters should be used to increase the accuracy. In addition, adding the product of the square of earthquake magnitude multiplied by distance to the model can significantly increase the accuracy of seismic demand estimation.
A dual substructuring method with a penalty term was introduced in the previous works by the authors, which is a variant of the FETI-DP method. The proposed method imposes the continuity not only by using Lagrange multipliers but also by adding a penalty term which consists of a positive penalty parameter ${\eta}$ and a measure of the jump across the interface. Due to the penalty term, the proposed iterative method has a better convergence property than the standard FETI-DP method in the sense that the condition number of the resulting dual problem is bounded by a constant independent of the subdomain size and the mesh size. In this paper, a further study for a dual iterative substructuring method with a penalty term is discussed in terms of its convergence analysis. We provide an improved estimate of the condition number which shows the relationship between the condition number and ${\eta}$ as well as a close spectral connection of the proposed method with the FETI-DP method. As a result, a choice of a moderately small penalty parameter is guaranteed.

In this paper, a transcoding algorithm for the Selectable Mode Vocoder (SMV) and the G.723.1 speech coder via direct parameter transformation is proposed. In contrast to the conventional tandem transcoding algorithm, the proposed algorithm converts the parameters of one coder to the other without going through the decoding and encoding process. The proposed algorithm is composed of four parts: the parameter decoding, line spectral pair (LSP) conversion, pitch period conversion, excitation conversion and rate selection. The evaluation results show that the proposed algorithm achieves equivalent speech quality to that of tandem transcoding with reduced computational complexity and delay.

One of the most important roles in the nonlinear dynamic structural analysis is to select a proper ground excitation, which dominates the response of a structure. Because of the lack of recorded accelerograms in Korea, a stochastic model of ground excitation with various dynamic properties rather than recorded accelerograms is necessarily required. If all information is not available at site, the information from other sites with similar features can be used by the procedure of seismic hazard analysis. Eliopoulos and Wen identified the parameters of the ground motion model by the empirical relations or expressions developed by Trifunac and Lee. Because the relations used in the parameter identification are largely empirical, it is required to apply the artificial neural networks instead of the empirical model. Additionally, neural networks have the advantage of the empirical model that it can continuously re-train the new recorded data, so that it can adapt to the change of the enormous data. Based on the redefined traditional processes, three neural-networks-based models (FAS_NN, PSD_NN and INT_NN) are proposed to individually substitute the Fourier amplitude spectrum, the parameter identification of power spectral density function and intensity function. The paper describes the first half of the research for the development of Neural-Networks-based model for the generation of an Artificial earthquake and a Response Spectrum(NNARS).
Synchrotron radiation of relativistic electrons is an important radiation mechanism in many astrophysical sources. In the sources where the synchrotron cooling timescale is shorter than the dynamical timescale, electrons are cooled down below the minimum injection energy. It has been believed that such fast-cooling electrons have a power-law distribution in energy with an index -2, and their synchrotron radiation has a photon spectral index -1.5. On the other hand, in a transient expanding astrophysical source, such as a gamma-ray burst (GRB), the magnetic field strength in the emission region continuously decreases with radius. Here we study such a system, and find that in a certain parameter regime, the fast-cooling electrons can have a harder energy spectrum. We apply this new physical regime to GRBs, and suggest that the GRB prompt emission spectra whose low-energy photon spectral index has a typical value -1 could be due to synchrotron radiation in this moderately fast-cooling regime.
In the generally a voice conversion has used VQ(Vector Quantization) for partitioning the spectral feature and has performed by adding an appropriate offset vector to the source speaker's spectral vector. But there is not represented the target speaker's various characteristics because of discrete characteristics of transformed parameter. In this paper, these problems are solved by using the LMR(Linear Multivariate Regression) instead of the mapping codebook which is determined to the relationship of source and target speaker vocal tract characteristics. Also we propose the method for solved the discontinuity which is caused by applying to time aligned parameters using Dynamic Time Warping the time or pitch-scale modified speech. In our proposed algorithm for overcoming the transitional discontinuities, first of all, we don't change time or pitch scale and by using the LMR change a speaker's vocal tract characteristics in speech with non-modified time or pitch. Compared to existed methods based on VQ and LMR, we have much better voice quality in the result of the proposed algorithm.
The visual evoked potentials(VEPs) is used to assist in the diagnosis of specific disorders associated with involvement of the sensory visual pathways. The P100 latency is an important parameter which is diagnosis of optic nerve disorders. There are characteristics of latency delay, wave distortion, amplitude deduction in abnormal subjects. It is difficult to diagnose in the case of producing peak at the P100 latency. In this paper, difference of pattern between normal VEPs and abnormal VEPs using the Choi-Williams distribution method is studied. We observed the relationship about time and spectrum. The result shown that normal VEPs had maximum spectral value at 20Hz~26.7Hz and abnormal VEPs had maximum spectral value at 16.7Hz~20Hz. Also normal VEPs spectrum is higher than abnormal VEPs spectrum.
