  • The MPEG-2 source coding algorithm is very sensitive to transmission errors due to using of variable-length coding. When the compressed data are transmitted, transmission errors are generated and error correction scheme is not able to be corrected well them. In the decoder error concealment (EC) techniques must be used to conceal errors and it is able to minimize degradation of video quality. The proposed algorithm is method to conceal successive macroblock errors of I-frame and utilize temporal information of B-frame and spatial information of P-frame In the previous GOP which is temporally the nearest location to I-frame. This method can improve motion distortion and blurring by temporal and spatial errors which cause at existing error concealment techniques. In network where the violent transmission errors occur, we can conceal more efficiently severe slice errors. This algorithm is Peformed in MPEG-2 video codec and Prove that we can conceal efficiently slice errors of I-frame compared with other approaches by simulations.

  • Single image-based super-resolution has been studied for a long time in computer vision because of various applications. Various deep learning-based super-resolution algorithms are introduced recently to improve the performance by reducing side effects like blurring and staircase effects. Most deep learning-based approaches have focused on how to implement the network architecture, loss function, and training strategy to improve performance. Meanwhile, Several approaches using Attention Module, which emphasizes the extracted features, are introduced to enhance the performance of the network without any additional layer. Attention module emphasizes or scales the feature map for the purpose of the network from various perspectives. In this paper, we propose the various channel attention and spatial attention in single image-based super-resolution and analyze the results and performance according to the architecture of the attention module. Also, we explore that designing multi-attention module to emphasize features efficiently from various perspectives.

  • H.264/AVC supports variable block motion compensation, multiple reference images, 1/4-pixel motion vector accuracy, and in-loop deblocking filter, compared with the existing compression technologies. While these coding technologies are major functions of compression rate improvement, they lead to high complexity at the same time. For the H.264 video coding technology to be actually applied on low-end / low-bit rates terminals more extensively, it is essential to improve tile coding speed. Currently the deblocking filter that can improve the moving picture's subjective image quality to a certain degree is used on low-end terminals to a limited extent due to computational complexity. In this paper, a performance improvement method of the deblocking filter that efficiently reduces the blocking artifacts occurred during the compression of low-bit rates digital motion pictures is suggested. In the method proposed in this paper, the image's spatial correlational characteristics are extracted by using the variable block information of motion compensation; the filtering is divided into 4 modes according to the characteristics, and adaptive filtering is executed in the divided regions. The proposed deblocking method reduces the blocking artifacts, prevents excessive blurring effects, and improves the performance about $30{\sim}40%$ compared with the existing method.

  • In Fourier magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the number of phase encoded signals is often reduced to minimize the duration of the studies and maintain adequate signal-to-noise ratio. However, this results in the well-known truncation artifact, whose effect manifests itself as blurring and ringing in the image domain. In this paper, we propose a new regularization method in the context of a Bayesian framework to reduce truncation artifact. Since the truncation artifact appears in t도 phase direction only, the use of conventional piecewise-smoothness constraints with symmetric neighbors may result in the loss of small details and soft edge structures in the read direction. Here, we propose more elaborate forms of constraints than the conventional piecewise-smoothness constraints, which can capture actual spatial information about the MR images. Our experimental results indicate that the proposed method not only reduces the truncation artifact, but also improves tissue regularity and boundary definition without oversmoothing soft edge regions.

  • High resolution Pan-sharpening technique is becoming increasingly important in the field of remote sensing image analysis as an essential image processing to improve the spatial resolution of original multispectral image. The general scheme of pan-sharpening technique consists of upsampling process of multispectral image and high-pass detail injection process using the panchromatic image. The upsampling process, however, brings about image blurring, and this lead to spectral distortion in the pan-sharpening process. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a new method that adopts image restoration techniques based on optimization theory in the pan-sharpening process, and evaluates its efficiency and application possibility. In order to evaluate the effect of image restoration techniques on the pansharpening process, the result obtained using the existing method that used bicubic interpolation were compared visually and quantitatively with the results obtained using image restoration techniques. The quantitative comparison was done using some spectral distortion measures for use to evaluate the quality of pan-sharpened image.

  • In this paper we implemented various image processing filtering using the format converter. This design method is based on realized the large processor-per-pixel array by integrated circuit technology. These two types of integrated structure are can be classify associative parallel processor and parallel process DRAM (or SRAM) cell. Layout pitch of one-bit-wide logic is Identical memory cell pitch to array high density PEs in integrate structure. This format converter design has control path implementation efficiently, and can be utilize the high technology without complicated controller hardware. Sequence of array instruction are generated by host computer before process start, and instructions are saved on unit controller. Host computer is executed the pixel-parallel operation starting at saved instructions after processing start. As a result, we obtained three result that 1) simple smoothing suppresses higher spatial frequencies, reducing noise but also blurring edges, 2) a smoothing and segmentation process reduces noise while preserving sharp edges, and 3) median filtering may be applied to reduce image noise. Median filtering eliminates spikes while maintaining sharp edges and preserving monotonic variations in pixel values.

  • Aiming at motion analysis and compensation, it is essential to conduct motion detection with images. However, motion detection and tracking from low-altitude images obtained from an unmanned aerial system may pose many challenges due to degraded image quality caused by platform motion, image instability and illumination fluctuation. This research tackles these challenges by proposing a modified joint transform correlation algorithm which includes two preprocessing strategies. In spatial domain, a modified fuzzy edge detection method is proposed for preprocessing the input images. In frequency domain, to eliminate the disturbance of self-correlation items, the cross-correlation items are extracted from joint power spectrum output plane. The effectiveness and accuracy of the algorithm has been tested and evaluated by both simulation and real datasets in this research. The simulation experiments show that the proposed approach can derive satisfactory peaks of cross-correlation and achieve detection accuracy of displacement vectors with no more than 0.03pixel for image pairs with displacement smaller than 20pixels, when addition of image motion blurring in the range of 0~10pixel and 0.002variance of additive Gaussian noise. Moreover, this paper proposes quantitative analysis approach using tri-image pairs from real datasets and the experimental results show that detection accuracy can be achieved with sub-pixel level even if the sampling frequency can only attain 50 frames per second.

  • Definition-Enhancement of the digitalized image has been being made researches continuously due to application a camera to a mobile-apparatus and the advent of a digital camera. In particular, the inputted image from a sensor goes through the process of ISP(Image Signal Process) prior to output as a visual image. The high-frequency components are offset by LPF(Low Pass Filter) that eliminates the noise of high spatial-frequency at the moment. In this paper, we propose an algorithm that outputs more vivid image by using adaptive-HPF(High Pass Filter) that has apt coefficients for diverse conditions of an image edge, nevertheless we do not employ any Edge-Detection algorithm to enhance a blurred image.

  • Low-ionization nuclear emission-line regions (LINERs) have been generally regarded to be powered by active galactic nuclei (AGNs), yet still a number of alternative explanations on the origin of LINER emission are suggested; for example, planetary nebulae nuclei of massive stars, supernovae shocks from death of massive stars, and old stellar populations. Interestingly, a majority of recent star formation early-type galaxies (ETGs) in local universe presents such LINER emission lines. Given that situation, revealing the true nature of LINERs is a crucial step to constrain the evolution path to quiescent ETGs. To resolve the issue, we use Keck/LRIS to obtain spatially resolved spectra on a carefully selected ETG. The ETG SDSS J091628.05+420818.7 at redshift z ~ 0.024 shows modest LINER emission line features without any detection of 21 cm radio continuum nor X-ray emission. We perform a stellar continuum subtraction and measure emission line strengths and their uncertainties for each spectrum from five apertures along the slit with size of 1 arcsecond (~0.5 kpc). We find that extended spatial distributions of four emission lines $H{\alpha}$, $H{\beta}$, [OIII]${\lambda}5007$, and [NII]${\lambda}6583$, and they can be explained by central emission blurring effect. We conclude that the emissions seem to be centrally concentrated, indicating the AGN-nature of LINERs.

  • The parallel beam SPECT acquires projection data by using parallel hole collimators in conjunction with photon detectors. Those projection data of the parallel beam SPECT are, however, contaminated by the distance dependent blurring because of the inaccuracy of the point response function of the collimator that is used to define the range of directions where photons can be detected. Thus an efficient aperture correction is required. In this paper we propose a distance dependent backprojection method to overcome the time limitation of iterative aperture correction methods and the performance limitation of Fourier-Distance Relation based method. The proposed method achieves aperture correction and fast image reconstruction by replacing the distance independent backprojection of the direct image reconstruction with the distance dependent one. We conducted several simulations to compare the performance of the proposed method with that of the conventional Fourier-Distance Relation based method. The simulation result shows that the proposed method outperforms the Fourier-Distance Relation based method in spatial resolution and robustness against noise.
