  • The environment of Ubiquitous in terms of improvement is being expanded to various fields and time enabled system. Thus, a real-time spatial information management system has been developed by integrating a human movement detection system into a SICS(Spatial Information Control System) engine that can integrally manage inside spatial information extracted from 3D CAD and outside spatial information of GIS. The add-on program was developed to extract spatial information necessary for the SICS engine from 3D CAD information, and a human movement detection system was developed. Test bed was operated for 2weeks and indoor human flow information was found out by zone. Also, the direction of future research was decided through a test bed.

  • This study focuses on building an effective environmental control system for the ubiquitous housing environment. In order to build an effective environmental control system that will provide a comfortable, pleasant, and convenient environment for residents, information on how people cognize the indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, information on human beings, and information of the space should be studied. Also more studies need to be done in which method would be the best way to integrate these informations that would affect the users in the most positive way. The current environmental control system only carries the information on providing separate information of environmental factors such as light, temperature, humidity, heat, and sound. However, it is difficult to understand the energy efficiency of an architectural element through this system. Therefore, this study proposes an energy monitoring system utilizing spatial information.

  • Recently, as the spatial information and various multimedia are fused together, the demand for the high value-added spatial information contents and the necessity of technology for spatial information security are increasing. However, since the current security policy is being managed independently by each system, there is a problem with unreliable or costly to modify or revise the security policy. Such problems occur frequently in the process of coordination or integration of the spatial information management systems that are used in public institutions and private companies. Therefore, in this paper, the access control system that could provide an integrated security policy for many spatial platforms and systems with expandable grammar and semantics was designed and implemented based on GeoXACML proposed by OGC. As the GeoXACML-based access control system designed and implemented in this paper follows the international standard specifications, it provides high portability and interoperability. Finally, in this paper, the efficiency of the system was proved by applying it to a virtual scenario on the military area requiring the access control.

  • This paper describes the system development for the Ground Control Point collection and management through the major coastline region in KOREA, which will collect and manage the ground control point based on high resolution satellite image database. The module of this system is following 1) GCP/Coarstline research plan module 2) GCP/Coarstline ground collection module 3) GCP/Coarstline post processing module Our team developed the core components of ‘High Resolution Satellite Image Processing Technique’ project, and this system, among applications of our project, is constructed to apply to practical use.   • The 4S represents four systems that are commonly related to spatial information: GIS, GNSS, SIIS, ITS. The 4S technology that integrates the four systems gets more and more interests recently. In this paper, we adopt component paradigm to 4S system, apply it to the disaster control field, and design a system based on component architecture. There are many application areas to which the 4S technology can be applied. but the disaster control system is one of the most typical fields. We apply 4S technology to the disaster control fields, including fire, flood, and typhoon. Because of the characteristics of disaster control system that handles large-volume map data, component-based 4S system will take considerable effects on the improvement of disaster control works. The core functions that are common to all disaster control fields are included in 4S kernel component because of the consideration of time performance. Remaining non-common functions are implemented as separate components named as work-specific components. In our suggested system, a vehicle named as 4S-Van collects real-time information on the spot of disaster and sends image and location information to control center via wireless transmission. The control center analyzes the information together with its own spatial database or map, which was not possible in the conventional disaster control works. The control center can get desired information by sending a request of re-transmission to 4S-Van. Such method of real-time transmission supported by on-the-spot information makes the current situation judgment, decision making, and order issuance more exact, effective, and timely. The suggested system and method are expected to bring remarkable improvement on disaster control works.

  • A robotic spatial augmented reality (RSAR) system combines a robotics technology with a spatial augmented reality system (SAR) where cameras are used to recognize real objects and projectors augment information and user interface directly on the surface of the recognized objects, rather than relying on handheld display devices. Moreover, a robotic module is actively used to discover and utilize the context of users and environments. The control of a RSAR system involves several issues from different technical fields such as classical inverse kinematics of motors where projector-camera pairs are mounted, inverse projection problems to find appropriate internal/external parameters of projectors and cameras, and image warping in graphics pipeline to compensate the kinematic constraints. In this paper, we investigate various control issues related to a RSAR system and propose basic approaches to handle them, specially focused on the prototype RSAR system developed in ETRI.

  • Since world coordinate system is entirely used because of the revision of land surveying law, it is needed that transformation of coordinates of geo-spatial information established by korea coordinate system to be performed. It is required, however, to have a plan for transformation of world coordinate system because the coordinate system is not unified due to the geo-spatial information system using dualistic control data of both old and new data of korea coordinate system. For this purpose, in this study, I have calculated coordinate transformation coefficient per control data of korea coordinate system and proposed a plan of transforming a dualistic coordinate system which is based on control data of korea coordinate system effectively into world coordinate system through verification of accuracy of transformation per control data.

Spatial target path following and coordinated control of multiple UUVs

  • The coordination control of multiple Underactuated Underwater Vehicles (UUVs) moving in three dimensional space is investigated in this paper. The coordinated path following control task is decomposed into two sub tasks, that is, path following control and coordination control. In the spatial curve path following control task, path following error dynamics is build in the Serret-Frenet coordinate frame. The virtual reference object can be chosen freely on the desired spatial path. Considering the speed of the UUV, the line-of-sight navigation is introduced to help the path following errors quickly converge to zero. In the coordination control sub task, the communication topology of multiple UUVs is described by the graph theory. The speed of each UUV is adjusted to achieve the coordination. The path following system and the coordination control system are viewed as the feedback connection system. Input-to-state stable of the coordinated path following system can be proved by small gain theorem. The simulation experiments can further demonstrate the good performance of the control method.

  • An automatic measuring system of three dimensional shape by a projection method with grating pattern from in optical spatial modulator has been developed. The characteristics of the system were studied. This system is composed of a projector, an optical spatial modulator, a CCD camera, and computer. A liquid crystal is used as the optical spatial modulator. The grating patterns that ire projected on the surface of the object are controlled by the computer connected with the optical spatial modulator. The projector patterns are measured by the CCD camera. The data are transferred to the computer. After a transformation into line data, the data are analyzed to obtain the coordinate of the surface of the object. This system has advantages as follows. (1) It is possible to capture the surface topography without any contact. (2) The time required for the measurements is shorter than the light-section method. (3) An optical spatial modulator using a liquid crystal is possible to control the grating patterns accurately by a computer. Surfaces of a plate and a cylinder were measured. The threshold level had an influence on the measurement. It was shown that this system has adequae accuracy in the measurements.
