In this paper, we take advantage of Wavelet Transform to identify damping ratios of membrane structures under wind action. Due to the lightweight and flexibility of membrane structures, they are very sensitive to the wind load, and show a type of fluid-structure interaction phenomenon simultaneously. In this study, we firstly obtain the responses of an air-supported membrane structure by ADINA with the consideration of this characteristic, and then conduct Wavelet Transform on these responses. Based on the Wavelet Transform, damping ratios could be obtained from the slope of Wavelet Transform in a semi-logarithmic scale at a certain dilation coefficient. According to this principle, damping ratios could eventually be obtained. There are two numerical examples in this study. The first one is a simulated signal, which is used to verify the accuracy of the Wavelet Transform method. The second one is an air-supported membrane structure under wind action, damping ratios obtained from this method is about 0.05~0.09. The Wavelet Transform method could be regarded as a very good method for the the damping analysis, especially for the large spatial structures whose natural frequencies are closely spaced.

In this paper, a novel type of wideband single-patch microstrip antenna using the reactive-loading technique is presented. We demonstrated that, by inserting stubs at both of the radiating edges, the frequencies of the two resonant modes are closely spaced to form a wide operating bandwidth. Segmentation technique and cavity model are used to analyze the antenna characteristics and experimental data are show to be in good agreement with the calculated results. With the proposed structure, the measured antenna bandwidth of 230MHz is obtained, which is almost 2.65 times larger than that of an unloaded rectangular patch antenna and fully covers the whole frequency range of 1.885GHz~2.025GHz allocated to IMT-2000.
The purpose of this study is to introduce how to make implant supported over denture with Oring. Many kinds of attachments have used to dental restorations. The application of attachment has widely increased implant fixed prosthesis and implant supported over denture. In order that implant supported over denture have properly retention, generally used O-ring, magnetic, bar attachment. O-ring give us an advantage that is required more minimum vertical dimension than bar-type and easily replace with new part. When we make these prosthesis using O-ring, Bar, Ball attachment, we should following procedures. Strong occlusion force leads to fracture of over denture because part of functional mechanism as implant abutment or attachment is spaced. Clips are regularly activated. O-ring and springs are changed every year. The pattern of resorption should be carefully monitored and compensated for by relining procedures. If the over denture appears to rest on the bar or the ball attachments, relining should be performed and clips/caps should be changed.

The ${\beta}$-lactamase inhibitory protein, BLIP-II, found in the culture supernatant of Streptomyces exfoliatus SMF19, shows no discernible sequence identity with other ${\beta}$-lactamase inhibitory proteins identified in Streptomyces spp. A null mutant of the gene encoding BLIP-II (bliB::$hyg^r$) showed a bald appearance on solid media. Although BLIP-II was initially isolated from the supernatant of submerged cultures, sites of BLIP-II accumulation were seen in the cell envelope. Mutation of bliB was also associated with changes in the formation of septa and condensation of the chromosomal DNA associated with sporulation. The bliB mutant exhibited infrequent septa, showing dispersed chromosomal DNA throughout the mycelium, whereas the condensed chromosomes of the wild-type were separated by regularly spaced septa giving the appearance of a string of beads. Therefore, on the basis of these results, it is suggested that BLIP-II is a regulator of morphological differentiation in S. exfoliatus SMF19.

In this paper, we point out the possibility of the divergence of control input caused by the estimation error of delay-time when general iterative learning algorithms are applied to a class of linear dynamic systems with time-delay in which delay-time is not exactly measurable, and then propose a new type of iterative learning algorithm in order to solve this problem. To resolve the uncertainty of delay-time, we propose an algorithm using holding mechanism which has been used in digital control system and/or discrete-time control system. The control input is held as constant value during the time interval of which size is that of the delay-time uncertainty. The output of the system tracks a given desired trajectory at discrete points which are spaced auording to the size of uncertainty of delay-time with the robust property for estimation error of delay-time. Several numerical examples are given to illustrate the effeciency of the proposed algorithm.

Owing to the advantages of reduced weight and wind effect, the space-framed towers that consist of vertical and horizontal members of circular hollow tubular sections have been adopted widely for various purposes. It is critical to guarantee the strengths of tubular joints where vertical and horizontal members are connected structurally to make the entire space-framed system behave as a single tower structure. In this study, a strength evaluation was conducted for T-type tubular joints subjected to the concurrent action of compression and bending. Three of the available design codes, i.e., AISC, Eurocode 3, ISO 19902 were investigated and a design equation was suggested for an ultimate strength interaction between the axial force and bending moment based on nonlinear finite element analyses by selecting the slenderness ratios at the joints as major parameters.

This paper describes a calculation method of source level of a ship transient noise, which is one of the important elements for the ship detection. Aim of transient noise measurements is to evaluate of acoustic energy due to singular occurrence, which is therefore defined as non-periodic and short termed events like an attack periscope, a rudder and a torpedo door. In generally, in the case of randomly spaced impulse, the spectrum becomes a broadband random noise with no distinctive pattern. Therefore, frequency analysis is not particularly revealing for type of signal. In the paper, it is performed in time domain to analyze a transient noise. However, a source level of transient noise is required an investigation for multiple frequency band. So, in order to calculate a source level of transient noise, a design of exponential weighting function, convolution, band pass filtering, peak detection, root mean square, and parameter compensation are applied. The effectiveness of this calculation scheme is studied through computer simulations and a sea test. Furthermore, an application of the method is applied in a real case.

The determination of sound pressure radiated from periodic plate structures is fundamental in the estimation of noise level in aircraft fuselages or ship hull structures. As a robust approach to this problem, here a very general and comprehensive analytical model is developed for predicting the sound radiated by a vibrating plate stiffened by periodically spaced orthogonal symmetrical beams subjected to a sinusoidally time varying point load. In this these, we experiment with the numerical analysis using the space harmonic series and the SYSNOISE for measuring the vibration mode and character of response caused by sound radiation with adding the harmonic point force in the thin isotropic plate supported by the rectangular lattice reinforcement. We used the reinforcements, beams of open type section like the style of 'ㄷ' letter; the space of the beams were chosen to be 0.2m, 0.3m, 0.4m. We studied the behavior of sound pressure levels, analysis of vibration mode between support points, connection between frequency function and sound pressure levels, and connection between position function and sound pressure levels.
The study deals with the physical modeling of a typical single storeyed building frame resting on pile foundation and embedded in cohesive soil mass using the finite element based software SAP-IV. Two groups of piles comprising two and three piles, with series and parallel arrangement thereof, are considered. The slab provided at top and bottom of the frame along with the pile cap is idealized as four noded and two dimensional thin shell elements. The beams and columns of the frame, and piles are modeled using two noded one dimensional beam-column element. The soil is modeled using closely spaced discrete linear springs. A parametric study is carried out to investigate the effect of various parameters of the pile foundation, such as spacing in a group and number of piles in a group, on the response of superstructure. The response considered includes the displacement at the top of the frame and bending moment in columns. The soil-structure interaction effect is found to increase the displacement in the range of 38 -133% and to increase the absolute maximum positive and negative moments in the column in the range of 2-12% and 2-11%. The effect of the soil- structure interaction is observed to be significant for the type of foundation and soil considered in this study. The results obtained are compared further with those of Chore et al. (2010), wherein different idealizations were used for modeling the superstructure frame and sub-structure elements (foundation). While fair agreement is observed in the results in either study, the trend of the results obtained in both studies is also same.
Many atypical structures on the roadside are exposed to traffics unshielded posing great danger. One way to shield an atypical structure to secure the occupant safety is to stack energy absorbing material modules in front of the structure. This paper presents the analysis method of module type crash cushion made of EPS blocks using simple energy balance of the car and crash cushion and numerical examples for 0.9ton-500km/h, 0.9ton-60km/h and 0.9ton-70km/h impact are presented. This method gives simple estimation of maximum acceleration, time of crash, whether or not the vehicle stops completely before whole cushion is being crushed. However, since the acceleration and velocity data from the analysis is so crudely spaced that calculation of safety indices such is RA and OIV is not possible. Problem is overcome by using data interpolation. The spline and linear interpolation is introduce and safety analysis is made and the results are compared.
