Along with the rapid increase of the elderly population, our country is facing the elderly problem as a social issue due to nuclear family, the increase of female social activities and recognition changes about the elderly support. In this connection, the welfare services to protect the overall elderly is requested urgently and the countries which have been experiencing aging earlier than our country are studying a lot a community daycare method which delays moving of the elderly into facilities as long as possible, reduces costs and efficiently provides services in order to curtail the big burden to the national economy. As one of these solutions, there is the elderly daycare center and this can be considered to be a compromising service type to correspond to our social changes, make individual and social supports without damage to the sense of value about support. Therefore, the space for the elderly can keep up with the falloff of mental and physical functions, dementia and geriatric diseases according to aging and careful consideration about the space considering stability and convenience is required. At this point, this study has the purpose to plan a daycare center which reflects the characteristics of the elderly to protect them within the community safely and comfortably. As for the research method, case study was conducted to understand the overall situation on the space plan of the daycare center for 5 daycare centers located in Seoul and found out problems. In addition, interview research was conducted for the heads of daycare centers or social workers, care workers and photographing and drawing collection were performed simultaneously. From the generalization of the above study, a space plan for a daycare center considering the characteristics of the elderly was provided.

Recently, people aim for a healthy environment which enhances quality of life, and also there are communication in green space like therapy garden and weekend farm growing. Meanwhile, in Korea, administrative organizations have leaded to plan and proceed in reference to physical regeneration in local areas, and this had caused social and maintenance problems. The purpose of this study was to introduce a concept of community garden which is regarded as green and community space and to insist on a way of residents participation on plan for community garden and its necessity. For that, there were five ways of residents participation on plan for community garden based on literatured and theoretical contemplation and case studies, and these were subject to construction project of community garden in deteriorated area in Jeonju city. This study can provide improvement guidelines for the initial stage of plan for residents participation community garden.

The propose of this study is to suggest objective data to be utilized for a plan and the improvement of open space through the analysis of people's behaviour and satisfaction after the introduction of an opened-fence around offices followed by a plan for wall-afforestation of public institution's. The sites examined are four offices; two of them have opened-walls and the others have traditional enclosure. Analysis of frequency is conducted to understand the actual use according to people's individual peculiarities. Pearson's correlation analysis, t-test, multiple regression analysis are carried out to find out relations of fluents. In the end, the satisfaction is high in public institution satisfaction, entrance, space perception. stability, Landscaped office with opened-fence rather than fence, and the increase in usage of fluent of public institution satisfaction, entrance, space perception. stability, confusion brings about rising of use-satisfaction. Satisfaction with the exterior of building is the most important variable that influences the whole urban open space. Furthermore the influences of the approach and stability having connection with open or not-open fence is major variable affecting satisfaction of use of open space. Whether open or not is important factor on satisfaction of open space of office building. Through this study, we can find that opened fence determines use satisfaction of resting space of outdoor-office. So factors affecting satisfaction must be regarded as important requisite on planning, design, development and management in plan for afforestation of fence at public institution.

This study focused on the architectural plan of the pension to meet modem people's desire for rural life, and the result of the study is as follows: First, the architectural plan for the characteristic of the location must apply the various architectural types considering the suburbs, tour and culture town, and community for the location improvement. Second, the architectural plan for the characteristic of the plot requires the encircled space and courtyard between buildings, the private gardens for the rooms, and the consideration of the surrounding environment. Above all, the plan for the subsidiary facilities is the most important. Third, the architectural plan for the characteristic of the plan requires the close connection with the outside, the wide opened view from the guest room, and the individual entrances for the guest rooms. Fourth, the architectural plan for the characteristic of the decorative design must consider the mass separation plan, the application of the facade design factors and eco-friendly environment materials, the night illumination plan, and the space program for the scenic view.

The purpose of this study is to analyze spatial configuration of the unit floor plan characteristics of the apartments built in Seoul Metropolitan area by using the Space Syntax methodology and finally to test the relationship between space in the unit floor plans. So the unit floor plans are analyzed using sector graphs from justified graph and computer programs based on the Space Syntax model and compared by size. The results are as follows; The sector graphs are summarized in 14 types. The total depth of spaces is not in proportion to the plan area. And the global and local integration and intelligibility are inversely proportional to the area. But in the case of largest areas(265$m^2$ and above), the integration and intelligibility increase.

The purpose of this study is to propose a way of making the master's space of the apartment suitable for new housing need. This study is to research the typology of master's space which is one of the major component of apartment plan. And also transition of the typology and size of master's space were analyzed. The 895 examples of unit floor plan were selected and classified according to the net area. The object of this study is the apartment plan which were constructed in Seoul, Il-san and Bun-dang and whose area is above 100 ㎡. Through this analysis and research, this study is to provide the basic data for actual design process and to suggest future trends of apartment houses.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of the spatial composition at the Modern Korean houses after the time of the enlightenment in Daegu province. The orientation of the houses, way of the entrance and its relation to the inner house(An-Chae), the type of floor plan, the compositional methods of exterior space, and the usage of exterior space are investigated. As the results, the Modern Korean houses after the time of the enlightenment in Daegu province are showed the symptom of the modernization in aspect of the site plan and the compositional methods of exterior space.

A house is basic unit of human being living space and it reflects an occupation, family relation, a life style and sense of value of resident. To analyze of modernization process the rural house in Japan diversely and systematically, this study examined the elements and characteristics of changing floor plan in house through field studies and residential interviewing about the rural house of Miyashiro, Saitama pref. in Japan. The results of this study are as follow. First, the traditional TANOJI type changed into NAKAROUKA and TSUZUKIMA type on modernizing process. Second, Toma is an important space of farmhouse. It is succeeded with the element, which is the possibility of knowing the remnant of traditional element from modern rural house. Third, the cause of changing floor plan is a narrow and small space by growth of children. That is the most factor of changing house deterioration of equipments and necessity of children's space.

To develop a master plan of a university campus, we need to know how students view and use their campus. For this purpose, the well-known Linch's(1960) cognitive mapping methods are used to figure out the image of Yonsei University and its surrounding area which is perceived by the students of Yonsei University. Major findings are that the cognition levels for the edge which divides Yonsei University from the surroundings and the paths which the students commute along are relatively high. The students mainly use campus space near the main gate rather than the space deep inside of the university, which shows they use the campus space unevenly. Therefore, when considering a new master plan of Yonsei University, it is needed to develop methods which increase the even use of the campus space such as developing new commuting paths.

Youth Culture Center is a space only for adolescents, where they can experience a wide range of educational and cultural activities. Through the case study of existing several youth culture centers, we find problems and show that a new-planned space is the most suitable for adolescents' traits and youth culture center's program operation. Consequently, a new Interior plan will provide adolescents with the place 'by youth' and 'for youth' Adolescents' traits must be accepted and their culture also must be respected. Constructing youth culture center's space properly and arranging it functionally enables 'to overcome the limit to a small space. Youth culture center is to be designed to symbolize adolescents' cultural feelings. On the basis of the conclusion, a specific interior design plan is given as follows.
