  • This paper presents the design and manufacture of a Solid State Relay (SSR) life prediction device that can predict the lifetime of an SSR, which is a key component of a glass forming machine. The lifetime of an SSR is over when the current supplied to the relay is overcurrent (20 A or higher), and the operating time is 100,000 h or longer. Therefore, the life prediction device for the SSR was designed using DSP to accurately read the current and temperature values from the current and temperature sensors, respectively. The characteristic test of the manufactured non-contact relay life prediction device confirmed that the current and temperature were safely measured. Thus, the SSR lifetime prediction device developed in this study can be used to predict the lifetime of an SSR attached to a glass forming machine.

  • This paper proposed a new solid State Relay(SSR) structure that can replace the conventional SSR as a power IC. The photodiode arrays, the main part of this structure, were designed and integrated in the same power It chip with the output parts, LDMOSFET and BJT, on a SOI substrate. The fabrication of this input part shared the same output LDMOSFET fabrication processs, except the additional deposition of Silicon nitride($Si_3N_4$) for the photo-detection part. According to LED illumination intensites and photo detecting areas, we could obtain voltage of 0.49V ${\~}$0.52V and current of 5.5uA ${\~}$ 108uA respectively from the fabricated unit photodiode. The maximum value of the voltage and the current we could obtain from the photodiode array were 3.58V and 24.4uA respectively, and the voltage was enough to operate the output LDMOSFET

  • The conventional electro-mechanical circuit break and relay are widely used in large-sized DC power system. However, recently due to high reliability, remote controllability and small power dissipation of a RSPC (Remote Solid State Power Controller), high-friendly DC power systems have increasingly adopted the RSPC as an essential element. In this paper, we have conducted the modeling of a RSPC circuit and the simulation analysis for $I^2t$ curve, respectively.

  • One of the frequently used relay in industry is SR relay The SR relay has roughly two kinds. Wenn the power is off, one can memorize the previous ?tate and the other can be set automatically to the initial setting position. Those relays are constructed mechanically, so that they have some disadvantages, such as electro magnetical and acoustic noise. Such problem can be easily solvedby using a microprocessor. In this contribution will show the opportunity, how easily the relay function with a microprocessor can be reconstructed. As an example the function of Impulse Set Reset Relay will be discussed.

  • Power transformers are applied throughout the power system to connect systems of different voltage to one another. Since a ratio differential relay offers high sensitivity in detection of internal faults in power transformers, it is widely used in the main protection system. The use of nonlinear devices such as rectifiers and other devices utilizing solid state switching have been increased in industry during recent years. For nonlinear loads, the load current is not proportional to the instantaneous voltage. This situation creates harmonic distortion on the system. The harmonic could differential relay misoperation if not recognized. This paper aims at analyzing and probing into the influences of harmonics on a ratio differential relay for power transformer protection.

  • The electrical accident results from an insulation blackdown by over-voltage, an overheating by the excess of allowable current, a deterioration performance by the passage of time, and so on. This paper discusses how to improve the power control system of PCB in water purifier. The protecting device of present power supply control system in water purifier is composed of the varistor device which acts only for impulse-type surges. So the present system can not be protected others except the surge of impulse-type. The newly-suggested power control system in this paper is designed to protect the system by disconnecting power supply through SSR(Solid State Relay) if the value of input voltage is exceeded the setting value.

  • In this paper, a charge equalization converter with parallel-connected primary windings of transformers is proposed. The proposed work effectively balances the voltage among Lithium-Ion battery cells despite each battery cell has low voltage gap compared with its state of charge (SOC). The principle of the proposed work is that the equalizing energy from all battery strings moves to the lowest voltage battery through the isolated dc/dc converter controlled by the corresponding solid state relay switch. For this research a prototype of four Lithium-Ion battery cells is optimally designed and implemented, and experimental results show that the proposed method has excellent cell balancing performance.

  • This paper is presents a initial starting of SST with high voltage level source. Rush current flowing as difference between capacitor level and grid level can crush the whole system. Thus, industries have used initial constituted by resistance and relay. However the initial circuit used in industries can't apply high voltage application due to isolation and economic feasible problems. Therefore many countries study method can charge capacitor with another voltage sources. Also this paper introduce method charging primary side capacitor efficiently.
