임플랜트 표면처리가 생체활성에 미치는 영향 (EFFECT OF DIFFERENT SURFACE TREATMENTS TO INCREASE BIOCOMPATIBILITY OF DENTAL IMPLANT)

  • Statement of problem: Modification of titanium implant surface has potential to ensure clinically favorable performance that several surface modification technologies have been introduced. Among the methods. anodizing method and sol-gel hydroxyapatite coating method have gained much interest due to its roughness and chemical composition of the coating layer, but more of its biocompatibility result is required. Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare bone-implant interface shear strength of four different surface treated implants as time elapsed. Resonance frequency analysis(RFA) and removal torque measurement methods were employed to measure implant stability at one week and six week after implantation. Material and method: A total of 80 screw-shaped implant [20 machined, 20 resorbable media blasted(RBM), 20 anodized, and 20 anodized+hydroxyapatite sol-gel coated] were prepared, and one of each group was implanted in the tibia of a New Zealand white rabbit that total 20 of them were used. In order to test the implant stability and implant-tissue interface contact changing in the bone bed, each 10 rabbit were sacrificed 1 week and 6 week later while resonance frequency and removal torque were measured. One-way analysis of variance and the Tukey test were used for statistical analysis. Results : The results were as follows. 1. There was no statistically significant difference of implant stability quotients(ISQ) value in RFA between individual groups after 1 week of implantation and 6 weeks(p>0.05). But, there was statistically significant increase of ISQ value in 6 weeks group compared to 1 week group(p<0.05). 2. There was no statistically significant difference in removal torque analysis between individual groups after 1 week of implantation and 6 weeks(p>0.05). but there was statistically significant increase in all 4 groups after 6 weeks compared to 1 week later(p<0.05). 3. There was no statistically significant difference in removal torque analysis between anodized group and HA coating after anodic oxidation 6 weeks later(p>0.05), but significant difference was appeared in both groups compared to RBM group and smooth-machined group(p<0.05). Conclusions : It can be suggested that changes in surface characteristics affect bone reactions. Anodized and anodized+hydroxyapatite sol-gel coating showed significantly improved bone tissue response to implants, but further study on the effect of hydroxyapatite dissolution is needed.

에폭시가 함유된 PVC졸 실란트의 물성 (Properties of Epoxy Modified PVC-sol Sealants)

  • 본 연구에서는 PVC졸 실란트에 요구되는 접착성 개선제에 대한 연구의 일환으로 에폭시가 2개(epoxy A)인 것과 4개인 것(epoxy B)을 각각 첨가하였을 때 PVC졸 실란트의 제반물성에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. PVC졸은 디옥틸프탈레이트(DOP)로 PVC를 가소화시켜 제조된 것이다. 에폭시 수지 A의 경우는 에폭시 수지 함량이 증가할수록 PVC졸 실란트의 점도가 감소하였고, 첨가제 $CaCO_3$가 첨가된 에폭시 PVC졸 실란트의 점도는 에폭시 수지 종류에 관계없이 $CaCO_3$ 함량이 증가할수록 점도가 증가했다. $45^{\circ}C$ 열 수조상에서 점도 변화는 에폭시 수지 종류 또는 함량에 관계없이 점도가 감소하였는데 이는 에폭시가 PVC졸 실란트에 안정제의 역할을 한 것으로 판단되었고, $CaCO_3$가 함유된 경우는 그 함량이 증가할수록 점도가 증가한 것은 충진효과로 판단되었다. 에폭시가 첨가된 PVC졸 실란트의 열적 안정성은 다소 개선되었다. 인장 강도는 에폭시 수지 A의 함량이 낮은 경우는 인장 강도 및 신율이 증가하고, 높은 함량에서는 오히려 감소했다. 에폭시 수지 B의 경우는 에폭시 함량이 증가할수록 인장 강도와 신율은 증가하는 현상이 보였다. 충진제 함량이 많을수록 충진제 함량이 적은 PVC졸보다도 인장 강도는 낮은 현상을 보였다. 전기적 특성에서는 tan ${\delta}$의 값이 0.1정도($0.1{\pm}0.04$)이고 비유전율 ${\epsilon}_r$ 값은 0.5정도($0.5{\pm}0.04$)이므로 좋은 절연체로 판단되었다.

Efficient Transdermal Penetration and Improved Stability of L-Ascorbic Acid Encapsulated in an Inorganic Nanocapsule

  • Encapsulation of L-ascorbic acid (vitamin C) within a bio-compatible layered inorganic material was achieved by coprecipitation reaction, in which the layered inorganic lattice and its intercalate of vitamin C are simultaneously formed. The nano-meter sized powders of vitamin C intercalate thus prepared was again encapsulated with silica nano-sol to form a nanoporous shell structure. This ternary nanohybrid of vitamin Clayered inorganic core-$SiO_2$ shell exhibited an enhanced storage stability and a sustained releasing of vitamin C. Furthermore, the nano-encapsulation of vitamin C with inorganic mineral was very helpful in delivering vitamin C molecules into skin through stratum corneum, facilitating transdermal penetration of vitamin C in topical application.

A New Class of Sol-Gel Transition Hydrogels for Macromolecular Delivery

  • A new series of PEO-PPO-PEO and PPO-PEO-PPO copolymers having several hydroxyl groups on the PPO chain segment were synthesized, further modified with various poly(lactic acid) PLA oligomeric chains to confer physical stability after thermo-gelation in the body fluid. Gel stability was endowed by either increasing hydrophobic interaction between PLA chains or inducing stereocomplex formation between enatiomeric isomers of PLA chains. Macromolecular drugs were incorporated within the gels and their release patterns were investigated using Pluronic F127 as a control.

$IO_4$-산화전분 변형에 의한 효소의 안정성 증가 (Stabilization of Aspergillus sp. $\alpha$-Amylase by Modification with $IO_4$-oxidized Starch)

  • The stabilization of Aspergillus sp. $\alpha$-amylase was attained by modification with periodate-oxidized sol-uble starch. The pH stability of modified enzyme was increased at pH 3~4 and 9~11 in the presence of $\alpha$-cyclodextrin($\alpha$-CD) compared with that of native enzyme. Thermal stability of the modified enzyme was increased. After treatment at 6$0^{\circ}C$ for 30min the activity remained 20% for the enzyme modified at pH 9.7 in the presence of $\alpha$-CD and tested in the presence of $\alpha$-CD 10% for the enzyme modified at pH 9.7 in the presence of $\alpha$-CD 0% for the native enzyme. The native enzyme and modified enzyme showed one peak in HPLC. The substrate specificity of the modified enzyme was not changed in HPLC analysis of reaction product.

생물공정 모니터링을 위한 광섬유 포도당 및 젖산 센서의 개발 (Development of Optical Fiber Glucose and Lactate Biosensors for Bioprocess Monitoring)

  • In this work the optical fiber glucose and lactate biosensors were developed by using fluorescent dye and enzyme immobilized on the end tip of an optical fiber. 3-Glycidyloxypropyl)methyldiethoxysilane (GPTMS), (3-Aminopropyl) trimethoxysilane (APTMS) and Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) were used to immobilize glucose oxidase (GOD), lactate oxidase (LOD) and ruthenium(II) complex (tris(4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline) ruthenium(II), $Ru(dpp)_3^{2+}$) as oxygen sensitive fluorescent dye. MTMS sol-gel was an excellent supporting material for the immobilization of $Ru(dpp)_3^{2+}$, GOD, and LOD on the optical fiber. Storage stability of the optical fiber glucose sensor was kept constant over 20 days, while the optical fiber lactate sensor had constant storage stability over 17 days. The optical fiber glucose and lactate biosensors also maintained good operational stability for 20 hours and 14 hours, respectively. The activities of the immobilized enzymes were most excellent at pH 7 and at $25^{\circ}C$. On-line monitoring of glucose and lactate in a simulated process was performed with the optical fiber glucose and lactate biosensors. On-line monitoring results were agreed with those of off-line data measured with high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

V2O5-P2O5-ZnO-Sb2O3 Glass Frit Materials with BaO and Al2O3 for Large-sized Dye-sensitized Solar Cell Sealing

  • $V_2O_5-P_2O_5-ZnO-Sb_2O_3$ glasses modified with BaO and $Al_2O_3$ are synthesized as a sealing material for large-scale dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). A compositional study is performed in order to determine the glass that can be sintered below $500^{\circ}C$ with a high chemical stability against the electrolyte. The flow size of the glasses after the heat treatment and the glass stability are increased with the addition of $Al_2O_3$ and BaO, while the glass transition temperature is decreased. After the reaction with the electrolyte at $60^{\circ}C$ for 72 h, the addition of 5 mol% of BaO and 2 mol% of $Al_2O_3$ considerably enhances the chemical stability of the glass. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used to examine the reaction between the electrolyte and glasses. The structural contribution of the additives is also investigated and discussed.

Thermal stability and Young's modulus of mechanically exfoliated flexible mica

  • In recent years, mica has been successfully used as a substrate for the growth of flexible epitaxial ferroelectric oxide thin films. Here, we systematically investigated the flexibility of mica in terms of its thickness, repeated bending/unbending, extremely hot/cold conditions, and successive thermal cycling. A $20-{\mu}m-thick$ sheet of mica is flexible even up to the bending radius of 5 mm, and it is durable for 20,000 cycles of up- and down-bending. In addition, the mica shows flexibility at 10 and 773 K, and thermal cycling stability for the temperature variation of ca. 400 K. Compared with the widely used flexible polyimide, mica has a significantly higher Young's modulus (ca. 5.4 GPa) and negligible hysteresis in the force-displacement curve. These results show that mica should be a suitable substrate for piezoelectric energy-harvesting applications of ferroelectric oxide thin films at extremely low and high temperatures.

수동식 부항기의 기계적 안정성과 성능의 실험적 비교연구 (Comparative Study on Cupping Apparatuses for Medical Use by Mechanical Stability and Functional Test)

  • Objectives : It is sure that standardization of medical instruments is very important and necessary. Cupping therapy is one of the traditional oriental medical method, and it is necessary to set up a standard of cupping therapy and instruments. Methods : We select 3 major cupping instrument makers according to a questionnaire survey of 2001 oriental medical doctors. Dae Gun is A maker, Han Sol is B maker, Dong Bang is C maker. And with these air pumps we make experiments on stability by an inner impact test and a falling test. With these cups we check stability by an inner impact test and a disinfection test. And to know function of these instruments we test a negative pressure and maintain attached cups until 5 to 10minutes. Results : All results of experiments(impacted test, disinfection test, falling test) on stability of cups and air pumps are suitable for medical instrument. And the efficiency of 3 major makers shows various results. Negative pressure of B group is the highest, C group is the second, A group is the lowest. Pressure maintenance test shows A and C group is comparatively up to the experimental standard(<10%), B group is comparatively below the experimental standard(<10%). Conclusions : Results show stability of cups and air pumps is suitable for medical instruments. And negative pressure of cupping and maintenance of pressure show various results. So it is necessary to set up a standard negative pressure of cupping and maintenance of pressure.
