Methods: The subjects of this study were 269 infants and their mothers who attended day care centers in G district of S city and the data was collected by survey. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test and ANONA test using SPSS 16.0 program, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test by post test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results: First, parenting efficacy, emotional expressiveness, and social emotional development of infants showed differences according to age, participation time, and academic background. Parenting efficacy showed a significant difference in age and parenting time, and emotional expressiveness showed significant difference in education and parenting time. Infant's social emotional development showed a significant difference in educational attainment and parenting time. Second, maternal parenting efficacy and emotional expressiveness were found to have an influence on infant's social emotional development. Conclusion/Implications: Maternal parenting efficacy and emotional expressiveness seem to influence the development of social emotions in infants, and these results suggest that, in order to grow the children healthy in social, emotional aspect, various education programs which could improve parenting efficacy and positive emotional expression are necessary.
This study investigates the impact of the shared environment of pregnant women and their unborn child on the later emotional and behavioral characteristics of a child, extending into his or her adulthood. Using a sample of some 16,000 children from the National Child Development Study, the study demonstrated a positive relationship between the quality of the maternal environment and later emotional and behavioral performances during childhood and adulthood. These findings support the study hypothesis, suggesting that parenting environment such as mother‘s employment, husband’s social class and the mother‘s smoking habits during pregnancy has an affection on the later emotional and behavioral development of the child. The dimensions of the child’s emotional and behavioral well-being may be enhanced by therapeutic interventions and/or by helping pregnant women to develop a positive social network.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between parental attitude and social-emotional development of kindergarten children. The sample were 119 children and their parents(mothers and fathers) of a kindergarten in Seoul. The instruments for this study were the modified PM(Parental Modemity) by Schaefer and Edgerton and the modified social-emotional development scale by Korea Behavioral Science Institute. The data analyzed y frequency, mean, t-test, and Pearson's r. Major findings were that the mothers' parental attitude was related to the children's curiosity. Also, there were significant differences between the mothers' parental attitude and fathers' parental attitude according to their children's sex.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between emotional competence and social adjustment among Korean children and adolescents. The subjects of this study were 380 children between fifth and sixth grade ages and 579 middle school students. Their emotional competence was assessed by 'Korean Emotional Competence Scale (Kim et al., 2004),' and also their social adjustment by 'Social Adjustment Scale (Lee, 1994).' The data were analyzed by ANOVA, the Pearson's Correlation, and Regression, using SPSS. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Children's and adolescents' emotional competence and social adjustment had a meaningful difference according to SES, gender, and grade. (2) There was a significant, positive relationship between their emotional competence and social adjustment. Their social adjustment was related more strongly to factors, such as Self-expressiveness, Assertion, and Positive thinking, and also their emotional competence more to Self-adjustment and Emotional adjustment. (4) Social adjustment of children and adolescents was predicted best by Self-expressiveness and Assertion, Positive Thinking, Awareness and Understanding of Emotion, and Consideration factors of emotional competence.

Their emotional competence was assessed by 'Korean Emotional Competence scale (Kim et al., 2004),' and also their social adjustment was assessed by 'Social Anxiety Scale (Moon & Oh, 2002).' The data were analyzed by ANOVA, the Pearson's correlation, and regression, using SPSS. The results of this study are as follows: (1) Children's and adolescents' emotional competence and social anxiety were relatively high. (2) Their emotional competence had a meaningful difference according to SES, gender, and birth order. (3) Their social anxiety had a meaningful difference according to SES, gender, and birth order. (4) There was a significant relationship between their emotional competence and social anxiety. (5) A regression analysis result of children's and adolescents' social anxiety showed that approximately 11.3% variance could be explained by four emotional competence variables: 'self-expressiveness and assertion,' 'awareness and understanding of emotion,' 'positive acceptance,' and 'collective consciousness.'

The main purpose of this study is to explore a social capital paradigm which can be applied to many forms of social capital and intangible goods. The social capital paradigm introduces a new form of capital. This new form of capital produces a flow of socio-emotional goods that have value. Moreover, these socio-emotional goods can attach themselves to the objects used to convey them and change their value and meaning. This change in value and meaning is defined as attachment values. Exchanges of socio-emotional goods occur in networks where social capital resides. Formal and informal institutions provide order and meaning to exchanges of tangible and intangible goods. Social capital is a powerful resource that makes our choices interdependent. The social capital paradigm does not alter or contradict the basic economic theories of exchange. While the social capital paradigm accepts that selfish preferences motive many actions, it adds that sympathy and the desire to consume socio-emotional goods are powerful motivators. In case of marine affairs, ocean and fishing villages and their culture have been not only a fundamental basis of fisheries development but they also have made a great deal of contribution to forming social capital. In spite of this fact, the main reason that the problems of fisheries fishing villages fishermen in our society are kept at a distance is because they have been loosing their capability of forming social capital and producing socio-emotional goods, in addition to lowered relative economic share.
This study examined the effect of infant teacher's sensitivity, efficacy and interaction on the social and emotional development of infants. The participants of this study were 169 infants and their teachers in daycare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The instruments were collected through teachers' responses. Data were analyzed through the variance analysis using PASW 18.0 to verify the infant teachers' susceptibility, efficacy, and infant-teacher interaction based on infant teachers' background variables; to find out the relationship between the variables, Pearson correlation analysis was performed, and to find out the relative influence of variables on the infants' social and emotional development, stepwise multiple regression analysis was performed. Results were as follows. Firstly, Among the background variables of the teachers, their career as infant teachers displayed differences in the infants' social and emotional development, and the susceptibility, efficacy, and infant-teacher interactions displayed partial differences based on the teaching career, career as infant teachers, age, daycare center type, and the academic background of the teachers. Secondly, there were positive relationships between infant teacher's sensitivity, efficacy and interaction and infants' social and emotional development. Thirdly, infant teachers' sensitivity, efficacy and infant-teacher interaction had an influence on infants' social and emotional development at the same time. Especially, sensitivity and interaction were powerful and influential variables and their explained variance was 53%. These results suggested that teachers' efforts must be made to interact positively with infants and to increase their sensitivity level to respond to infants in order to increase infants' social and emotional development.
