Recently, rights advocacy in disabled welfare centers is one of the most important estimation and also transition of paradigm. However it is difficult to define rights advocacy specifically, so each disabled welfare center goes to conceptualize rights advocacy based on practical experiences. Study of practical recognition of the advocacy rights of social workers in disabled welfare centers provides greater foundation to establishing specific concept and direction of rights advocacy. Method of this research is analysis of metaphors, figuring out concepts and perception of social workers through survey. Analysis of metaphors is a method of analyzing a person's perception in specific context and situation by providing a concrete explanation of new thing, that is, basis of metaphor and analyzing it later. As a result of this research, it is shown that ideological type(necessary thing) and practical type(being together) are the perceptions about rights advocacy of social workers, and rights advocacy is recognized as 'practical concept' which plan and provide direct service at fields. According to these results, policy and environment should be constructed to provide advocacy services at welfare fields, reflecting these perceptions of social workers. Also this should be reflected on practical fields for them to learn appropriately and practice rights advocacy.
The aim of this study is to understand the ethical struggles of Child Protective Service(CPS) social workers and to indicate some implications for future studies by conducting research focusing on their ethical dilemmas and decision-making. This study used qualitative methods, in particular the phenomenological approach and 14 in-depth semi-structured interviews with CPS social workers, and were conducted and analyzed using the procedures of Colaizzi(1978). This study looks at the following research questions: 1) What kind of ethical dilemmas do CPS social workers encounter? This means what ethical dilemmas do they directly or indirectly encounter because of policy or system inadequacies and huge caseloads. 2) How do the CPS social workers make decisions when they are faced with ethical dilemmas? Making the best decisions with all of their responsibilities and burdens is the focus of this question. This study suggests the following discussions: First, efforts to emphasize 'ethics' at CPS are needed. Second, proper policies and systems based on the Korean situation are needed so that CPS social workers won't have to face 'needless' ethical dilemmas. Third, an index of ethical problems or ethical codes is necessary because principles are important to those social workers who face ethical dilemmas. Fourth, an ethical committee that protects the CPS social workers by supporting their decisions and being responsible for them is needed. Last, a debriefing system that reduces a CPS social worker's psychological trauma caused by ethical dilemmas should be available.
Objectives : Using several waves of the Panel Study of Worker's Compensation Insurance(PSWCI), this study analyzed the effect of female workers on the health and lifestyles of korean workers in the sample year of 2014 (The first survey was completed in August-October 2013;, the second survey was completed in August-October 2014.) Methods : The research subjects were 24,672 women among workers who responded to the 2014 PSWCI panel report. Statistical analyses were performed with SAS version 9.4 (SAS Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Results : According to the results of the analysis, women showed differences in female temporary workers, working conditions, classification of occupation, working period, and health conditions based on work-time conditions. The results show that female workers with disabilities have a direct positive effect on life satisfaction as we anticipated in the hypothesis. Conclusions : Female workers should focus on factors identified in this study when developing employment interventions to improve a health promoting lifestyle for their work environment.

This study examined the effects of a multifaceted intervention program on the psychological condition, empowerment, work readiness, and functional capacity for job performance of industrially injured workers. Twelve injured workers in C hospital were included in this study. The subjects participated in a social rehabilitation program 2 hours a day, twice a week, for 8 weeks in total, as well as a work hardening program 3 to 4 hours a day, 5 times a week, for 8 weeks in total. The study was conducted from March to September, 2017. A multi-dimensional psychological examination, empowerment scale, work readiness interview and functional capacity evaluation were conducted and the test scores compared before and after the program with the Wilcoxon signed rank test. In the multi-dimensional psychological examination, there were significant differences in the levels of anxiety, depression, lack of social support, and somatization symptoms (p<.05) except anger. The participants also showed significant differences in the empowerment scale, work readiness scale, and functional capacity evaluation. This study suggests that a multifaceted intervention program can be effective in improving the psychologic condition, empowerment, work readiness, and functional capacity of industrially injured workers and, in turn, may improve their rate of returning to work.
The purpose of this paper is a case study on welfare QC circle which is considered as one of the management techniques to improve service quality among recently changing welfare environment. Futhermore this paper is also to suggest a new introduction of the welfare QC circle in korean social welfare agency. To accomplish these purpose, this study theoretically examines activity process and techniques of welfare QC circle. In practice, three social workers and one supervisor working at 'D' community welfare center in pusan are participated during six months. As a result, we founded the specific problems that is aroused from youth volunteer group within by fish bone chart, and proposed the alternative choices by 5W1H check sheet, and also certified to decrease turnover ratio in youth volunteering by pareto chart. This study, however, has its limitation in selection only one case study on welfare QC circle of youth volunteering. Welfare QC circle could be much contributed as one of the management techniques to enhance the quality of social welfare service from the viewpoint of the customer, If it is well developed korean welfare QC model which is suitable to social welfare organization and service. Therefore, in order to introduce welfare QC circle in korean social welfare organizations, I would like to suggest to find out a useful text of welfare QC and organize some welfare QC study groups including other suggestions.

Objective: Despite the increasing number of female participation in employment, blue-collar women have been exposed to higher health risk. This study is to describe the prevalence of chronic diseases, health behaviors, and medical service utilization of female blue-collar workers. Methods: Data were derived from the 2001 Korea National Health and Nutrition Survey (KNHANES). The sample was made up of 37,108 male and female participants aged 20 or over selected nation-wide by probability sampling from Korea. This study applied the logistic regression for nominal variables such as disease prevalence and health behaviors and with the regression for continuos variables such as the length and costs of medical services. Results: In general, women's prevalence of chronic illness and uncured rate were significantly higher than male, and especially female blue-collar workers had the highest prevalence, uncured rate, unhealthy status, and perceived stress. However, the medical care cost was the lowest in female blue-collar workers. Conclusions: The findings suggest that female blue-collar workers were more likely to experience health problems, and that despite the highest health risk, health service is not effectively utilized, and health policy maker should take consider of special status of female blue collar workers who are in health inequality.
Relations of factors associated with burnout were investigated among 124 child protective service workers currently working in Korean Child Abuse Prevention Centers nationwide. Three categories of factors associated with burnout were examined; (1) individual characteristics, (2) job-related characteristics, and (3) job-satisfaction. Social survey method using questionnaires by mail was employed. MBI(Maslach Burnout Inventory) for measuring burnout, a part of Smith, Kendal & Hulin's JDI(Job Description Index) for job-satisfaction, and a scale measuring the special characteristics of job developed by researchers were used. Mann-Whitney test and Kruskal-Wallis test were employed to analyze the data. Across all burnout sub-scales(emotional depletion, dehumanization of clients, lack of feelings of achievement), subjects reported a high degree(above the cutting point) of burnout. Several factors were identified as associated with burnout. Child protective service workers who are young, single with front line worker status reported higher burnout. Lack of education and training before the job location were another factors which contributed to worker burnout. Lack of proper supervision stood out as another burnout provoking factor. Job-satisfaction was negatively correlated with all three burnout sub-scales, which meant the lower the job-satisfaction, the higher the burnout of service workers. The findings implicate that the administrators of Child Abuse Prevention Centers should pay close attention to their workers' sign of burnout and develop carefully designed support system which include provision of excellent supervision, proper education and training opportunities and organizational effort to strengthen employees' overall job-satisfaction to secure their quality of services toward abused children and their family.
Purpose: This study was to investigate and identify the factors that affect the hotel workers' health status. Method: The subjects of this study were 261 randomly selected servers from a hotel located in Seoul. For the statistical analysis of collected data, descriptive statistics, $X^2$-test, ANOVA and Tukey's multiple comparison(Tukey's post hoc), multiple regression were done with the SAS(Version, 9.01) program. Results: The health status scores were significantly different depending on the type of their occupation. The health status and the subordinate concepts such as social function, role limitation-physical and bodily pain scores were significantly different. The factors that affect health status of foods & beverages workers were emotional labor, physical environment, social support and self efficacy. In culinary, they were affected by job satisfaction and the experience of seeing a doctor. The workers in room-service were affected by experience of quitting. Conclusion: To improve health status of the hotel workers, the results of the study suggest that physical environment, emotional labor, self-efficacy and job satisfaction be enhanced. As the frequency of seeing the doctor affected their health status, further study is recommended and systematic health promotion program needs to be developed.
Background : There have been many studies and efforts about quality management in health services, but there were not founded quality assessment on social services. This study was designed for understood level of quality on social service, identified for correlation factors of quality assessment on social services in general and teaching hospitals in Korea. Methods : The subjects of this survey were 80 leaders of social service units. The survey data from each subjects were measured to evaluate level of quality that service provider perceived of sample hospitals. Social worker's attitude of quality assurance activities, perception of quality assurance system in that hospitals were measured. Under the method of one-way ANOVA, t-test and correlation, associated factors of quality assessment in social work service was analyzed. Results : The major findings were as following ; First, the level of quality perceived showed less score, especially the lowest was the score of quality of outcome. Second, social worker's attitude of quality assurance activities showed high score, but quality assurance system of hospitals showed less score. Third, the level of quality assurance system of hospitals, social worker's attitudes of quality assurance activities. Conclusion : The quality of social work service correlated positive hospitals's quality assurance system, social worker's attitudes of quality assurance activities. Therefore, to assure the proper level of quality, qualified for hospitals system of quality assurance, and needed to a educational program for enhanced social workers's attitudes in quality assurance activities.
The purpose of this study is to examine the job characteristics of care workers in elderly care voucher service emphasizing a social service quality management approach. The study sample was composed of randomly-selected 233 centers which dispatched care staffs to clients' home. Descriptive analyses were performed for examining the unique aspects of relationship-based labor of care staffs, and logistic regression analyses were performed for investigating the association between service quality structure and human right violation against staffs. As the first empirical study focusing on staff-side service quality factors, this study found out that human right violation against staffs was mainly influenced by record-keeping and document management capacity of center, risk protection under insurance, compliance of standard contract procedure, and regular supervision. These results suggest particular policy attention should be given to basic protection for and set-up of core activity boundaries of care workers as well as clients-centered rights both for preventing human right violation and improving overall social service quality.
