  • The aim of this study is to find the model that best explains members' continued use intention in virtual communities by comparing technical and social perspectives applied in IS context. With the eight major variables identified from prior studies, four alternative models were formulated:1) A base model from Information Systems (IS) continuance perspective, 2) IS continuance model with technology-acceptance perspective, 3) IS continuance model with social-capital perspective, and 4) IS continuance model with socio-technical combined perspective. The adequacies of these four models with different perspective highlighted were tested using survey data collected from virtual community users in Korea. The findings indicated that the IS continuance model and social-capital perspective is the most efficient model that best explains the members' continued use intention in virtual communities.

  • The present paper study investigates the relationship between social exclusion and donation intention among specific social groups in Korea. Social exclusion refers to non-participation in social experiences by the socially disadvantaged. Data were analyzed using two sources; first was the evidence of behaviors arising from social exclusion of the university students and then socially excluded reactions of the elderly responses from the survey were compared with the first research findings. The reason of using multi-sources of data is that the outcome from the experimental design of the university student is imperative to clarify what the conclusions will be the same result with the other demographic characteristic of the elderly. The research design was three excluded elderly individuals of a self-excluded group and two other excluded groups divided such as "ignored" and "rejected" individuals to compare the differences among three groups of different sources of exclusion. The conclusion of this study is that those with high social exclusion exhibited a more negative donation intention than those with lower social exclusion, but that those who perceived themselves as self-excluded were more likely to give donations than those excluded by others, regardless of the level of their social exclusion.

  • Given that most of the link prediction algorithms for signed social networks can only complete sign prediction, a novel algorithm is proposed aiming to achieve both link prediction and sign prediction in signed networks. Based on the structural balance theory, the local link tightness and global link tightness are defined respectively by using the structural information of paths with the step size of 2 and 3 between the two nodes. Then the total similarity of the node pair can be obtained by combining them. Its absolute value measures the possibility of the two nodes to establish a link, and its sign is the sign prediction result of the predicted link. The effectiveness and correctness of the proposed algorithm are verified on six typical datasets. Comparison and analysis are also carried out with the classical prediction algorithms in signed networks such as CN-Predict, ICN-Predict, and PSNBS (prediction in signed networks based on balance and similarity) using the evaluation indexes like area under the curve (AUC), Precision, improved AUC', improved Accuracy', and so on. Results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good performance in both link prediction and sign prediction, and its accuracy is higher than other algorithms. Moreover, it can achieve a good balance between prediction accuracy and computational complexity.

  • Despite the growing importance of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the apparel industry, most existing research focuses on the CSR activities of well-known apparel brands and retailers, not manufacturers. The purpose of this study was to examine the CSR activities of global apparel manufacturers using the two most widely accepted global CSR frameworks: the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. A comparison was employed based on the legitimacy theory. For this purpose, a content analysis was conducted on five apparel manufacturers' CSR activities disclosed in their annual sustainability reports published on the firms' official websites. The analysis was both quantitative (frequency) and qualitative (intensity). The results revealed that all firms conducted CSR activities related to environmental and social activities more actively than they conducted economic activities, with higher frequency and intensity scores for both the GRI and SDGs. However, based on each firm's economic development level, size, and years of experience, their applications of resources/technology to CSR and approaches to certain issues (e.g., gender and diversity issues) differed, supporting the legitimacy theory. The results provide academic implications by providing empirical information on apparel manufacturers' CSR activities as well as practical implications for other manufacturers seeking to develop CSR programs that meet the global standards.
