Relaxation algorithm to solve correspondence problem based on possibility distribution (정합 문제 해결을 위한 가능도 기반의 이완 처리 알고리즘)

  • A new relaxation algorithm based on distribution of matched errors and possibility is proposed to solve efficiently correspondence problem. This algorithm can be applied to various method, such as BMA, feature-, and region-based matching methods, by modifying its smoothness function. It consists of two stages which are transformation and iteration process. In transformation stage, the errors obtained by any matching algorithm are transformed to possibility values according to these statistical distribution. Each grade of possility is updated by some constraints which are defined as smoothness, uniqueness, and discontinuity factor in iteration stage. The discontinuity factor is used to reserve discontinuity of disparity. In conventional methods, it is difficult to find proper weights and stop condition, because only two factors, smoothness and uniqueness, have been used. However, in the proposed mthod, the more smoothing is not ocurred because of discontinuity factor. And it is efective to the various image, even if the image has a severe noise and repeating patterns. In addition, it is shown that the convergence rate and the quality of output are improved.

  • As the global to increase the wind power penetration in the power system, grid-integration standards have been proposed for the stable integration of the large-scale wind farm. Particularly, the low voltage ride through function has been emphasized, as it relates to the voltage and reactive power control of the wind turbine and the rest generators. This paper proposes the non-wind power generator control method in order to improve the wind power penetration. To prove the effectiveness of the proposed strategy, the simulation study is implemented in the Jeju power system. It can improve the wind power penetration by the effective control of the control generators.

Testing for Lack of Fit via the Generalized Neyman Smooth Test

  • Smoothing tests based on an L$_2$ error between a truncated courier series estimator and a true function have shown good powers for a wide class of alternatives, These tests have the same form of the Neyman smooth test whose performance depends on the selected order, a basis, the farm of estimators. We construct flexible data driven Neyman smooth tests by changing a basis, combining model selection criteria and different series estimators. A simulation study shows that the generalized Neyman smooth test with the best basis provides good power for a wider class of alternatives compared with other data driven Neyman smooth tests based on a fixed form of estimator, a fixed basis and a fixed criterion.

Further Advances in Forecasting Day-Ahead Electricity Prices Using Time Series Models

  • Forecasting prices in electricity markets is critical for consumers and producers in planning their operations and managing their price risk. We utilize the generalized autoregressive conditionally heteroskedastic (GARCH) method to forecast the electricity prices in two regions of New York: New York City and Central New York State. We contrast the one-day forecasts of the GARCH against techniques such as dynamic regression, transfer function models, and exponential smoothing. We also examine the effect on our forecasting of omitting some of the extreme values in the electricity prices. We show that accounting for the extreme values and the heteroskedactic variance in the electricity price time-series can significantly improve the accuracy of the forecasting. Additionally, we document the higher volatility in New York City electricity prices. Differences in volatility between regions are important in the pricing of electricity options and for analyzing market performance.

A Study on the Improvement of Stress Field Analysis in a Domain Composed of Dissimilar Materials

  • Interfacial stresses at two-material interfaces and initial displacement field over the entire domain are obtained by modifying the potential energy functional with a penalty function, which enforces continuity of the stresses at the interface of two materials. Based on the initial displacement field and interfacial stresses, a new methodology to generate a continuous stress field over the entire domain has been proposed by combining the modified projection method of stress-smoothing and Loubignac's iterative method of improving the displacement field. Stress analysis is carried out on two examples made of dissimilar materials : one is a two-material cantilever composed of highly dissimilar materials and the other is a zirconium-lined cladding tube made of slightly dissimilar materials. Results of the analysis show that the proposed method provides an improved continuous stress field over the entire domain, and accurately predicts the nodal stresses at the interface, while the conventional displacement-based finite element method produces significant stress discontinuities at the interface. In addition, the total strain energy evaluated from the improved continuous stress field converges to the exact value in a few iterations.

Short-Term Load Forecasting Exponential Smoothoing in Consideration of T (온도를 고려한 지수평활에 의한 단기부하 예측)

  • The major advantage of the short-term load forecasting technique using general exponential smoothing is high accuracy and operational simplicity, but it makes large forecasting error when the load changes repidly. The paper has presented new technique to improve those shortcomings, and according to forecasted the technique proved to be valid for two years. The structure of load model is time function which consists of daily-and temperature-deviation component. The average of standard percentage erro in daily forecasting for two years was 2.02%, and this forecasting technique has improved standard erro by 0.46%. As relative coefficient for daily and seasonal forecasting is 0.95 or more, this technique proved to be valid.

  • I-V 특성 곡선의 2차 미분을 통해서 얻어지는 전자 에너지 분포 함수를 정확하게 구하기 위해서는 스무딩 과정이 반드시 필요하다. 대표적인 스무딩 방법으로 가우시안 확률 밀도 함수를 instrument함수로 이용하는 가우시안 스무딩이 있다. 본 연구에서는 시스템에 따라서 instrument함수가 다르다는 점에 착안하여, 여러 가지 다른 종류의 확률 밀도 함수를 instrument함수로 사용 스무딩에 적용하여 확률 밀도 함수에 따른 노이즈 제거 및 전자 에너지 분포 함수의 정확도를 비교하였고. 동시에 대표적인 범용 스무딩 방법인 사비츠키-골래이 스무딩, Polynomial fitting과도 그 결과를 비교 분석하였다.

Hydrophobic Properties on RF-sputtered PTFE Films coated on UV-treated Glass Substrates (UV 처리된 유리기판위에 RF-스퍼터된 PTFE 박막들의 발수 특성)

  • Surface properties of polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) films fabricated by rf-magnetron sputtering system with UV surface treatment were investigated to increase water contact angle for their hydrophobic property. We found that the surface morphology and water contact angles of PTFE film modified as a function of the UV treatment times using UV-irradiation were influenced. The water contact angle of PTFE film with optimized UV treatment time for 15 minute showed a high hydrophobicity compared with the film without any surface treatment. We thought that it was due to the energy change of PTFE surface with an adhesion improvement to the glass surface as a smoothing a rough surface with needle-shape and/or the enhancement of an interface property as a removing some defects on the surface like a cleaning effect.

  • Voice conversion (VC) is a technique for modifying the speech signal of a source speaker so that it sounds as if it is spoken by a target speaker. Most previous VC approaches used a linear transformation function based on GMM to convert the source spectral envelope to the target spectral envelope. In this paper, we propose several nonlinear GMM-based transformation functions in an attempt to deal with the over-smoothing effect of linear transformation. In order to obtain high-quality modifications of speech signals our VC system is implemented using the Harmonic plus Noise Model (HNM)analysis/synthesis framework. Experimental results are reported on the English corpus, MOCHA-TlMlT.

  • 이미지 기반 3D 형상 복원에 있어서, 이미지에 보이지 않는 폐색(Occlusion) 영역 부분에 대한 정보가 손실되므로 완전한 복원에 어려움이 있으며, 세밀한 텍스쳐(Texture) 표현이 이루어지지 않고 심한 평활화(Smoothing)나 고립된 노이즈 메쉬(Isolated Noise Mesh) 등 구조적 훼손이 발생한다. 주로 깊은 신경망을 이용하여, 음함수(Implicit Function) 기반 방법은 사전훈련이 완료된 보조 신경망들을 전면부에 배치하거나, Hourglass 등 임베딩(Embedding) 아키텍처를 추가하거나, 또는 표면 법선(Surface Normal)과 같은 환시(Hallucination)를 생성하여 신경망에 입력하기도 한다. 이 논문에서는, 인물의 이미지를 입력받아 색상, 머리카락 및 의상을 포함하는 완전 3D 인간 복원 기술들을 조망해본다.
