  • From the perspective of smart learning space, this study aims to take a look at the learning space of college students who do online remote learning in the COVID-19 era, and analyze their demands on what smart learning space they want. Furthermore, this study intends to provide valuable implications for the technology-enhanced learning environments by deriving design elements that make up the university's smart learning space. To achieve these goals, we conducted a review of prior studies, interviews with experts, and case analysis on smart learning spaces of major Korean and foreign universities, which are considered as innovative cases. Additionally, in order to confirm the difference between the importance level recognized by the college students and the current performance level for nine components of technology and for ten components of spaces and facilities, a paired t-test and an Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) were carried out. According to the result of IPA analysis, Internet of Things from the technological aspects, a desk that can supply power and a flexible learning space from the aspects of spaces and facilities were found to have much lower performance than the importance. This result is meaningful in suggesting key design components for smart campus development in the post-COVID-19 world.

  • This paper proposed a new concept of information space called Smart Floor. Smart Floor is an intelligent space where a mobile robot can read and write specific information through Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) tags which are mounted on Smart Floor to drive its goal position. RFID tag packaging technology is described for building Smart Floor. Also a mobile robot equipped passive RFID System with ultra high frequency (UHF) bandwidth has developed. The information that consists of an absolute position in the Smart Floor and desired direction saved on RFID tags is a simulated Q-value based on Q-learning algorithm. Proposed Smart Floor will be a proper method to communicate between space and robot.

  • Rapid changes to the paradigm of smart media have created a communication environment through merging with various media such as IoT technology, which is internet of things. Among them, user' need for a start home, which is one of people living conditions, has been growing and values of the communication environment in a living space using a smart mirror have been growing. However, studies on figuring out behavior and analyzing needs of family members who actually use the living space are insufficient. This study is to draw the service system of the home smart mirror by analysis of behavior and needs of users of the living space. For a research method for analysis of behavior of family members, I wrote two kinds of user's experience maps, which are frequency of use of a quantitative space of a living space and space's important value scales by persona study and depth interview. Through this, applied spaces of the home smart mirror (living room, bathroom, powder room, dress room, porch, kitchen, room) and the types of user needs (type of providing information, entertainment type, control type, service type) have been drawn and statistical analysis methodology has been utilized for a research of user preferences in regard to correlation between living spaces and types of user needs based on a survey. As a result of analysis of ages and gender, types of user needs by space have been drawn and the service system of the home smart mirror has been drawn. It would be utilized as a basic material for various contents development and design using the smart mirror in the future.

  • In these days, the smart devices are being developed and used repeatedly. But almost E-learning System did not provide these smart devices environment and user's E-learning space is changing from Single-screen environment to multi-Screen environment. Accordingly we configure smart E-learning space based on multi-screen and integrate the multi-media contents for the Smart E-learning service. We present the synchronization techniques to make the multi-screen environment for smart space with Timed Link and design the Timed Button to relate each Screen which is using multi-media e-learning contents.

  • The Fourth Industrial Revolution has been revolutionizing industry and education. This paper proposes an education platform, Smart Space EduPlatform (SSEP), for the real estate industry, aimed at educating the basic real estate technology (RETech) for workers in the real estate industry so they can achieve the highest and best use of the real estate in the smart environment. The habitat of SSEP is driven by the donation system ensuring sustainability, various technical functions such as tools for content production and learning participation, and learning behavior frameworks each in form of a learner, a teacher, and a helper. Services of SSEP consist of 17 important RETech lectures under 6 categories-planning and design, decision-making, management, economics, construction, and equipment-and project-based learning (PBL) curriculums. The lectures are provided along with video contents, additional learning materials and learning management service, while teachers' workshops, learner invitation and registration management, curriculum operation services are offered for the PBL curriculums.

  • Commercial space tourism is being developed and this trend is expected to continue and accelerate. Although opportunities and threats of space tourism attracted the interest of academia, literature on potential demand, attitudes and people's motivations for space tourism is scarce. In this context, this paper investigates young generations' interest and motivations towards different forms of space tourism. The cluster analysis on 2,207 respondents highlighted an interest in space tourism although motivated by different reasons, levels of budget and sustainability aspects. Interest in space tourism varies according to how far it is perceived as potential, possible or sustainable, or to people's personal feelings. The paper adds to contributions in the tourism field by investigating the opportunities space can offer this industry.

  • In this study, I have researched the theories about Gibson's real affordance and Norman's perceived affordance which are central fact of affordance, And I have examined the context of affordance in smart-phone interface which was consist of affordance and signifier with viewpoint of amalgamation of Gibson & Norman. The results of this study are as follows; The first, Gibson's real affordance is a physical space in ubiquitous environment that interact through the behavioral space is composed with physical space and electronic space. Norman's perceived affordance is mediated to electronic space and signifier makes a behaviroal space which provide the clue of interaction. The second, signifier can be categorized into visceral, behavioral and reflective signifier based on three brain actions which are visceral, behavior, and reflection. Through the categorization, we can grasp that behavioral and reflective signifies generate visceral signifier. The third, the context of affordance in smart-phone has the structure of circulation. The structure of circulation is as follows: Real affordance makes the perceived affordance, the perceive affordance makes the signifiers and the signifiers make new real affordance. This study could provide the theoretical basis for using signifier in smart-phone interface design.

  • Objectives: The utility of the system was analyzed by applying the smart safety technology system to the aging pipe rehabilitation facility construction classified as a confined space. Methods: Smart safety management system was applied to a site where the aging pipe rehabilitation work was in progress. The working environment was measured for 25 days, and the toxic gas saturation was analyzed according to the working time and working place. Results: Based on the measured results, two characteristic environmental changes in the confined space were confirmed. First, when working inside an aging pipe, the tendency of carbon dioxide saturation increases with working time and the number of workers. Second, oxygen decreases when working in a space away from the entrance. Conclusions: Various applications of smart safety technology have been confirmed based on the measured data, and this is expected to be useful for environmental characteristic analysis and safety management when applied to a confined space composed with various conditions in the future.

  • In the recent society of knowledge industry, a changed phenomenon of domestic corporate culture, Work Smart working in creative and various ways beyond time and space is emerged from Work Hard working just hard. Thus, many corporations are trying to configure the emotional space beside the work space to make effective and creative achievements in free work environment out of rigid organizational culture in the past. This space is called Amenity space which enables to implement physical and psychological healings simultaneously and this is not a place for rest like in the past industry society. This research suggests distinctive characteristics of other amenity furniture unlike general furniture by analyzing the variously suggested change of forms of amenity furniture for Work Smart and the changes of configuring key factors such as forms, structures and functions of amenity furniture.

  • A smart blade conception has been proposed by the authors. With stretching-twisting coupling effect, the blade is twisted by centrifugal load or ambient temperature change. In this paper, the blades, made by three kinds of anti-symmetric laminates, are investigated by rotational tests. The results show the angle of smart blade tips increases in proportion to the 2nd power of a rotating speed and is well in agreement with the numerical results by FEM.
