An Empirical Study on the Effect of e-Commerce Guarantee Provided in Connection with e-Marketplace on the Management Performance of SMEs (e-Marketplace와 연계되어 제공되는 전자상거래 보증이 중소기업의 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 관한 실증연구)

  • Recently, the domestic e-commerce market has achieved remarkable growth through the spread of e-commerce throughout the industry. Nevertheless, the ratio of e-commerce use by our small and medium-sized enterprises has turned out to be very low. The reason for this low participation rate of SMEs in B2B e-commerce market is due to various reasons, but also the lack of empirical performance measurement and evaluation considering the characteristics of B2B e-commerce market in which SMEs participate. Therefore, this study was intended to analyze the effectiveness of B2B e-commerce use of B2B e-commerce to companies that are provided in conjunction with e-Marketplace by public credit guarantee agencies with experience in use. To this end, 14 items related to finance derived through prior research were used to conduct management performance analysis and hypothesis verification from a financial perspective. The implications of this study are expected to be that an empirical performance analysis from the financial perspective of a B2B e-commerce guarantee Utilized company can be used as a basis for policymaking for the activation of the B2B e-commerce guarantee in the future, thus contributing to the establishment of a stable business environment by supporting the expansion of e-commerce by small and medium-sized businesses.

  • This paper explains the contribution of international learning to the business performance through strengthening the international learning capability of the organization. This is consistent with the previous literature that the organization's international experience is an important determinant of the international performance and the learning capability, strengthened through organizational learning, contributes to the business performance. In addition, this paper analyzes the characteristics of international learning of a venture business, which has actively pursued internationalization, by categorizing exploitation and exploration. An important result is that the small-sized venture firm, which is weak in internal resources compared with large firms, utilizes partner network more actively to accumulate international experience by exploration. We can then confirm that this international experience strengthens learning capability and gives positive effects on the business performance.

  • Entrepreneurship and innovation are highlighted as a way to overcome limitations and risk factors caused by today's uncertain business environment. As the uncertainty in the business environment increases, organizations are required to adapt to ever changing business dynamics. For this adaptation, entrepreneurship and innovation are crucial factors. This study proposes a model to explain a structural relationship between entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and innovation performance. The unit of analysis focus is small and medium-sized businesses. Empirical results show that there are positive causal relationships from entrepreneurship to technological innovation, and from technological innovation to innovation performance. Additionally, no direct relationship from entrepreneurship to innovation performance can be achieved through innovation activities such as technological innovation. This study points out the importance of entrepreneurship and technological innovation, and suggests that entrepreneurship along with technological innovation should be internalized as business practices leading to increased performance.

  • As Multi-National Enterprises expanded their investments to foreign countries, numerous controversies and disputes arose from their negative impacts, such as violations of human rights and damage to the environment of the host countries. In response, International Organizations such as the OECD have considered various ways to prevent these negative impacts and search for more efficient dispute resolution methods. It is recognized that the OECD Guideline is one of the tools they created for this purpose. The OECD Guideline is contrastable from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives which are regarded as a corporation's charity activities apart from their core business functions. However, Responsible Business Conduct (RBC) like the OECD Guideline can be understood as a concept moving forward from CSR, due to its requirements that corporations carry out their duties in a responsible manner within the field of their core business, such as tax, global supply chain or consumer protection. RBC which is binding in nature, has even been implemented through legislation in developed countries such as the USA, France, Switzerland, and the UK. The discussion in Korea, however, has not reached that level. Discussions for legislation center singularly on CSR efforts, with a dialogue only recently forming around the topic of legislation concerning RBC. Small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) who lack certain financial and other resources to adequately develop RBC initiatives may find this more obstacles to implementation through legislated RBC, than if it were presented in Korea through other means. It's necessary to admit that RBC is a critical issue in international business. However, time is required to consider its application directly to SMEs.

Efficiency Plan for Agricultural Machinery Rental System of Local Government (지자체 농업기계 임대사업의 효율화 방안)

  • Purpose: This study was performed in order to improve problems and to seek the efficient operating plan by surveying and analyzing the actual status of operating the agricultural machinery rental business supported by the government. Method: The data was collected through two times of survey targeting lease business operators and the leasing business reports published for the past 3 years ('08~'10) 120 cities and counties. Results: As a result of surveying 120 cities and counties nationwide of operating the agricultural machinery rental business, 96% of agricultural machinery rental businesses were indicated to be operated in the form of short-term rent for about 1~3 days centering on small-sized agricultural machinery and attachment for upland crop. As for the unit number of possessing rental agricultural machinery and the purchase cost, it was indicated to be greatly reduced the agricultural machinery for rice farming and to be expanded into upland crop whose mechanization is insufficient. The annual rental days ('10) are 9.5 days/unit, thereby being a little insufficient. Rental fee for 1 day is 0.2~0.8% of the initial purchase cost of agricultural machine, thereby being greatly lower compared to 2.0% (annually 10-day rent) of the proper rents, resulting in being demanded improvement. Conclusions: To be continuously driven the rental business of agricultural machinery with having the ability to propagate, it is judged to be likely to necessarily collect optimum rental fee in consideration of rental days as well as increasing the use days per unit by buying the agricultural machinery, which is secured the rental demand, and by possessing the reasonable unit number.

  • Purposes of this paper are to find out the implementation strategy of TPM activities for SMEs through the analysis which examine the relationship between key activity factors and business performance. TPM activity has been playing a important role to strengthen the competitive power of the enterprises through the optimization of equipment management and maintenance. This study has been conducted using the data collected from 124 SMEs propelling TPM activity. By analyses of the questionnaires, empirical results shows that TPM activities has positive effect on business performance. The contribution of this study is that it provides a conceptual framework and empirical evidence of the causal relationship between key activity factors and business performance. The result of this study can be used for selection of the performance measurement indicators for target achievement in TPM activity. And it will contribute for objectivity of activity performance in case of displaying measurement indicator showing the performance of TPM activity.

  • Today, TQM is used as a important tool of management innovation for enterprise's competitive power. Purposes of this paper are to find out the implementation strategy of TQM activities for SMEs through the analysis which examine the relationship between key activity factors and business performance.   • Mobile-Office is the IT office that enables people handle their business anywhere and anytime without going to head office. It has propagated rapidly in domestic and foreign companies as the users who use mobile terminal such as smartphone have increased sharply. Mobile-Office is emerging as a new way of conducting business. It requires business environment to be changed to improve business efficiency, as fast-growing mobile-based economies emerges. Small and medium-sized companies's utilization ability for advanced IT technology is insufficient, and limitations exist on capacity of building and investment. They need different development methodologies and utilization methods. The purpose of this study is not only to consider the previous business environment problem on accessibility, mobility, effectiveness, complexity and consolidation, but to search more efficient methods for introducing applications to utilize various smart devices and websites with minimum investment in R&D.

  • In this study, the mediated effect of innovativeness and customer orientation among entrepreneurial market orientation, organizational effectiveness and business performance. For this, a statistical analysis for 419 copies of questionnaires collected from small and medium sized companies. As a result of analysis, first, entrepreneurial orientation was verified to be antecedents of market orientation. Second, it was identified that market orientation played a mediating role among entrepreneurial orientation, innovativeness and customer orientation. Third, entrepreneurial market orientation had positive effect on innovativeness and customer orientation. Fourth, innovativeness and customer orientation had positive effect on organizational effectiveness and business performance. Fifth, innovativeness and customer orientation, the core of this study; had the mediated effect among entrepreneurial market orientation, organizational effectiveness and business performance.

  • With the recent advent of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the importance of the platform business is increasing. Most global companies with high market value are known as platform companies. This change is changing the business model of companies in various industries. However, existing studies have mainly focused on information-intensive industries and large companies. Therefore, this study attempted to analyze the case of Everybot, which is successfully growing in the service robot industry. Everybot is known as a company that produces robot cleaners. However, according to the result, the company has focused on developing autonomous driving technologies and pursuing platform-based business strategies rather than product-based ones. The results of this study have theoretical and practical implications by showing how domestic small and medium-sized robot companies apply platform-based business strategies to achieve long-term growth with gaining leadership in the personal service robotics market.
