A Study on the Effects of Small Business Management Result by the Korean Government: Focus on SEMAS

  • Purpose - It is necessary to identify the level of marketing activities of the businesses that are recognized and carried out by the small and midsize businesses that have been supported by the government's small-business policy Research design, data, and methodology - The method of data analysis of this study was conducted by the researcher's acquaintances and center staffs who visited small business owners in a small - scale company operating a business. Results - It is found that the financial support part of the support programs for the small business owners is not related to the center affection among the support programs for the small business owners of the government. This is a fact-finding process that can be regarded as a forming process that has a significant effect on. As a result of the analysis, both marketing activity and center attachment were found to be possible parameters which have significant influence on business performance. Conclusions - Developing a variety of contact and customer management programs with small business owners in the field has enabled the government's policies to effectively penetrate the site, and these efforts eventually resulted in more business results for small business owners.

Foundation of Management Innovation and a Success Model of Micro Enterprise by Increasing Entrepreneurship and Organization Relationship Analysis

  • After the rapidly changing business management environment and financial crisis, high prices and domestic recession in Korea posed threats to the business survival of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This paper looks at the potential of micro business owners for sustainable development: those who have a spirit of entrepreneurship and the potential to be a hidden champion. Our study of micro business values uses structure equation modeling by LISREL. We have done so in order to understand the foundation of management innovation and success model of micro enterprise by increasing the entrepreneurship and management performance relationship analysis. A micro-enterprise is a type of small business, found only in Korea, often registered as having ten or fewer employees. We examine the successful type of hidden champions and the influence of entrepreneurship on start-ups in business. As compared to past research on the SME entrepreneurship, this study segments small businesses even further. Small business entrepreneurship was classified into three forms that are most appropriate for the Korean situation today: innovation, risk-taking, and pro-activeness. This research is meaningful as it is Korea's first empirical analysis on four business types: wholesale and retail sales, food and lodging business, service business, and manufacturing business. Thus far, research on small business entrepreneurship was carried out using small-scale investigative analysis. However, this research attempted to develop a model that can explain a cause-effect relation of the motivational level when it comes to the difference of entrepreneurship by each business type and small business start-up success factors. Various conceptual and operational definitions could be developed in a diverse and precise manner. Independent variables that are related to the success of small businesses can be developed additionally to examine the success factors related to the systematization in detailed manner. The research showed that the innovation, risk-taking and pro-activeness of the manifested difference in the degree of perception depending on the type of small businesses. Among the four business types, the ones that manifested the highest successful start-up rates were food, service, wholesale and retail sales and manufacturing. Results after conducting the regression analysis are shown on, which proves that the small business entrepreneurship exerts direct effect on the financial management performance of small businesses. In other words, small business entrepreneurship exerts a positive effect on the small business financial success and management performance. The R2 value is 0.61. It is possible to know that the perception of systematization and variables on attitude explains the 61% of the success for small self-employed businesses management performance. We define start-up key factors that are helpful to achieve internal growth of firms by finding business survival strategies. The results also focus on Korean government policy for micro enterprise and small business support.

  • Small business have very different characteristics from large business; notable, small business suffer from resource and capacity poverty. Without knowing the relative importance of limited resources and capacity in small business, it have limited practical contribution to e-business implementation success. This paper develops an exploratory resource-based model of e-business implementation for small business with 42 sample companies. The results show that three types of resource factors; IS/IT vender supports, the level of IS/IT knowledge, and financial support. The implication for research is that the resource-based view of the firm and the test an exploratory framework of resource factors are useful theories to ground future work on e-business implementation in small business.

Investigation on the Consciousness in Business Foundation Motives for Small Business Enterprisers in Korean Multi-Cultural Families

  • Purpose - The concept of lifetime job has disappeared, and men are interested in business foundation to work continuously with similar jobs. The value of business foundation is thought to be important in accordance with the viewpoint of society, government, individuals and family. Research design, data, and methodology - The economic exchange between South Korea and China has been expanded, and they are likely to play an important role in entry into China by business foundation in accordance with economic exchange between the two countries. As Korean residents inflow overseas, small businessmen business foundation shall be given attention scientifically and Korean Chinese business foundation shall be given attention as well. Results - The study investigated the effects on psychological characteristics and small business foundation motives upon business foundation will by using models. Self-efficacy and self achievement had positive influence upon small business foundation of Korean Chinese. The use of control variable had explanatory power (29.6%). Conclusions - The findings would help the government's small business foundation system to promote small business foundation and to be a guide for expansion in Korean Chinese's small business markets. An education program should be developed to strengthen Korean Chinese's self efficacy considering psychological characteristics.

소상공인 역량강화교육이 경영성과에 미치는 영향 (The effect of small business owner's professional education on business performance)

  • 우리 경제에 소상공인 차지하는 비중이 큰 반면 창업이후 5년 이내 생존율이 30% 미만임에도 불구하고 소상공인의 역량강화에 대한 연구는 거의 없는 상태이다. 본 연구에서는 소상공인의 역량강화교육이 경영 성과에 어떠한 영향이 있는지를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 소상공인의 역량중 관리역량은 재무적, 비재무적 경영 성과에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으나, 기술역량은 유의한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 한편, 역량강화교육은 소상공인의 역량과 경영 성과간 부분매개 역할을 하는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 소상공인의 역량과 비재무적 경영성과, 소상공인의 역량과 재무적 경영성과간의 역량강화교육이 매개 역할을 하는지 알아보고자 하였으며, 부분매개효과가 있음을 밝힌 본 연구는 학문적으로 의미가 있었다. 이러한 학문적 시사점 이외도 역량강화교육의 효과를 실증적으로 입증함에 따라 향후 정부가 소상공인 역량강화를 위한 교육 재원 마련의 근거를 제시하였다는 점에서 실무적인 의미가 있었다.

A Study on the Effects of Small Enterprise Start-up Preparatory Factors on Business Performance

  • Purpose - The present study aims to examine the relationship between small enterprise start-up preparatory factors and increases in sales and operating profits, which are business performances utilizing the National Survey of Actual Conditions of Small Enterprises conducted by the Small Enterprise, Market Service. Research design, data, and methodology - Start-up preparatory factors were divided into six types; business type, start-up history, start-up motives, preparatory periods, and start-up funds to figure out the relationship between sales and operating profits with regression analyses. Regression analyses were conducted based on the foregoing with a view to identifying the effects of start-up preparatory factors on business performance. Results - Since start-up preparatory factors generally affect business performance, it was identified that start-up preparatory factors importantly affect operating profits and sales, which are business performances. However, start-up preparatory periods and the implementation of education among preparatory activities were shown to have no effect on business performances, and the effect of the ratio of start-up fund provided by the founder on operating profits was shown to be not significant. Conclusions - The present study comprehensively examined those start-up preparatory factors that have positive effects on business performances after start-up. The present study is meaningful in that it can provide positive implications for efficient start-up of small enterprises hereafter.

소상공인지원제도에 대한 소상공인 만족도 분석: 경남지역 사례 중심 (A Satisfaction Analysis on the Small Business Support Systems in Gyeongnam)

  • 최근 청년실업과 베이비붐세대의 은퇴가 소상공인 창업시장의 양적 성장을 촉진시키고 있다. 정부의 지원정책 확대와 다양화도 양적 성장과 무관하지 않을 것이다. 본 연구는 지원정책의 실효성을 조사하기 위하여 소상공인진흥공단의 지원제도에 대한 경남지역 이용자의 만족도를 설문조사를 이용하여 분석한다. 연구를 위하여 소상공인시장진흥공단이 지원하는 제도 중 자금지원, 교육지원, 컨설팅지원에 대한 만족도를 분석한다. 또한, 지원제도별 소상공인의 인구통계학적 측면과 이용 빈도, 창업동기, 창업형태, 업종 경력, 종업원 수를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 자금지원, 교육지원, 컨설팅지원에서는 성별과 연령에 따른 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 그러나 학력에 따라서는 유의적인 차이가 나타났다. 소상공인의 창업동기에 따라 교육지원와 컨설팅지원의 만족도가 유의적으로 차이가 나타났다. 창업형태, 업종경력에 따라서는 세 가지 소상공인지원제도에 따라서 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 창업업종은 컨설팅지원에서, 종업원 수는 자금지원에서 통계적으로 의미 있는 차이가 나타났다.

중소기업 재무안정성 비율에 대한 연구 (A Study on Financial Stability Ratios in Small and Medium Size Business)

  • 국민경제에서 중소기업이 차지하고 있는 비중은 계속 증가하고 있는 가운데 중소기업의 경영상의 애로점으로 자금 조달의 문제가 가장 심각한 것으로 지적되고 있다. 본 연구는 중소기업의 경영 문제 가운데 재무구조의 실태를 파악하고 이를 대기업 또는 우리나라산업평균 재무비율과 비교함으로써 중소기업의 재무안정성 비율을 분석한 것이다. 조사 분석 결과 전체적으로 산업별 표준비율에는 그 수준이 미치지 못하고 있으나 산업평균과 비교할 때 그 수준이 양호한 것으로 조사되었으며 산업평균에 비해 안정성과 유동성이 양호한 반면 차입금 의존도가 대단히 낮은 것으로 조사되어 국가 또는 행정 자치적인 측면에서 중소기업 자금 지원 정책이 개발되어야 할 것으로 인식되었다.

지방중소기업의 정보화 현황과 정보화수준에 따른 기업성과 (An Empirical Study to Examine the Relationship between the Level of Information Systems and the Business Performance of the Local Small Business Firms)

  • This study is intended to suggest an ideal direction of the information systems policy for the local small business firms. In an effort to accomplish this objective, this paper tried to identify the current states of the information systems and measure the level of the information systems of local small business firms based on the maturity stage and the development level. The study then explored the evidence how the maturity stage and the development level affect the business performance of the local small business firms. The research found out that the organizational factor such as the support of CEO and the financial factor such as IS investment took major roles to improve the business performance. Based on the research findings of this study, the paper suggested the desirable solution of the information system policy to deal with the problems the local small business firms need to overcome.

중소기업연구 40년의 역사: 중소벤처기업정책 및 중소벤처기업의 전략적 경영 (A 40-year History of the Asia Pacific Journal of Small Business : Small and Medium Venture Business Policy and Strategic Management of Small and Medium Venture Businesses)

  • 본 논문은 중소기업학회 창립 40주년을 맞이하여 중소기업연구에 게재된 논문들을 통해 중소기업연구 40년의 역사적 흐름을 조명하고 미래 중소기업연구의 방향을 고찰해보고자 수행되었다. 특히 중소벤처기업정책 및 중소벤처기업의 전략적 경영 측면에 집중하여 해당 주제와 관련해 게재된 논문을 대상으로 내용을 분석하고, 시사점과 향후 연구방향을 모색하는데 기여하고자 한다. 1979년부터 2019년까지 중소기업연구에서 다룬 중소벤처기업정책 및 중소벤처기업의 전략적 경영 부문의 연구 동향을 분석하기 위해 연구주제, 연구방법, 연구자 등을 기준으로 시기별, 항목별로 구분하여 분석하였으며, 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 총 1,056편의 연구논문 중 중소벤처기업정책 및 전략적 경영을 주제로 한 연구논문은 전체 연구 중 약 14%, 11%의 비율을 보였다. 둘째, 연구주제 측면에서 중소벤처기업정책 부문에서는 자금 및 창업·벤처 관련 정책 연구의 비중이 높았고, 전략적 경영 부문에서는 국제화 전략에 대한 연구가 가장 많이 수행되었다. 셋째, 1980년대에까지는 질적연구가 더 큰 비중을 보였으나, 1990년대 이후 양적연구의 비율이 증가하기 시작해 이후로는 질적연구보다 양적연구가 많이 이루어졌다. 넷째, 지난 40년간 중소벤처기업정책 및 전략적 경영 부문에서 연구논문을 가장 활발히 발표한 기관은 한양대학교, 경북대학교, 건국대학교 등이었으며 연구소의 연구 참여는 다소 미흡했다. "중소기업연구"의 지속적인 발전을 위한 본 연구의 주요 시사점은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구주제 측면에서 중소벤처기업의 정책 연구와 전략적 경영에 대한 연구 간 연계성을 제고할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 연구방법 측면에서 보다 다양성을 추구하여야 한다. 셋째, 중소벤처기업과 관련된 공공 및 민간 연구소의 학회 참여율을 높일 필요가 있다.
