A three-dimensional slope valve component is used for controlling micro volume of liquid on a centrifugal force-based microfluidic disk platform, also called a lab-on-a-disk. The modeling factor of the slope valve component is determined to centrifugal force for liquid passing the crest of a slope valve via variation of slope length and angle as well as the radius to start point of slope valve. The centrifugal force is calculated by the equilibrium equation of the capillary and gravitational forces according to the microchannel surface roughness and the liquid volume, respectively. As a result, the slope valve is analyzed by the minimum angular velocity for liquid passing at crest point and the ratio between the length of micro liquid and slope length to obtain the factors for optimal slope angle modeling.
Development of a three-dimensional mine visualization model for a section of the mine is addressed first. Discontinuity orientation and location information was taken from this visualization model for use in slope stability analyses. Estimated shear strength properties of discontinuities and mechanical properties of intact rock from the rock mass samples obtained from the mine are discussed next. The third part of the paper is focused on the results obtained for maximum safe slope angles for the section considered of the mine based on block theory analysis conducted under only the gravitational forces using the mapped discontinuities at the mine. Finally, the effects of water that exist in the rock mass, a tension crack, slope face inclination, overall wedge height and double benching on factor of safety of wedge stability are illustrated through limit equilibrium slope stability analyses conducted on a single tetrahedral wedge belonging to potential key block category that exist in the investigated area of the mine.

Recently, there have been many natural disasters in Korea, not only in forest areas but also in urban areas, and the national requirements for them are increasing. In particular, there is no pre-disaster information system that can systematically manage the collapse of the slope of the national highway. In this study, big data analysis was conducted on the factors causing slope collapse based on the detailed investigation report on the slope collapse of national roads in Gangwon-do and Gyeongsang-do areas managed by the Cut Slope Management System (CSMS) and the basic survey of slope failures. Based on the analysis results, a slope collapse risk prediction model was established through Adaboost, a classification-based machine learning model, reflecting the collapse slope location and weather information. It also developed a visualization map for the risk of slope collapse, which is a visualization program, to show that it can be used for preemptive disaster prevention measures by identifying the risk of slope due to changes in weather conditions.
This paper proposes a design method to provide uniform flow in a microreactor. Uniform momentum approach is adopted with 10 pillars before and after the chamber having a different slope inlet channel. The slope and number of pillars are two factors to make a uniform flow in the microreactor, covering the hexagonal gold layer. The CFD analysis about the designed microreactor is carried out and the velocity vector field measurements are made in the fabricated microreactor by micro PIV technique. The uniformity of microreactor flow was confirmed by both numerical simulation and experimental results.

This study demonstrates the experiment based on digital photogrammetric processing for acquiring data related to slope monitoring. To apply dose-range digital photos for monitoring road rock slopes, digital elevation models and digital orthophotos were generated and 3D modelling was conducted for the visualization on a digital photogrammetric workstation. These digital photogrammetric products can be utilized as objective and scientific data not only for surveying and analyzing the shape and characteristics of the slopes but also for extracting various engineering data for building the database of the slopes and making the safety diagnosis of the slopes.

There are human casualties that caused by slope-stability related disasters such as landslide and debris flow during typhoon and rainy season every year in Korea. These disaster sites can be analyzed systematically using digital topographic data and aerial photogrammetry. In this study, geographical factors such as slope degree, geology, height, and soil depth are analyzed in four landslide-disaster sites from Muju, Jinan, and Jangsu County based on digital elevation maps generated by ArcGIS. Each site showed different characteristics in geology and geography and it is found that GIS can be utilized for the visualization of steep-slope failure areas.

This research addresses the experimental application of the digital close-range photogrammetric technique for 3D deformation measurement and visualization of road slope. The 3D displacements were extracted by the photo-triangulation based on the bundle adjustment method using the digital imagery. In addition, we produced the digital elevation models, the digital orthorectified images and the 3D perspective view images of the slope employing a digital photogrammetric workstation. Also the inclination map of the slope was generated as the data for monitoring and managing dangerous slopes.
The wind flow and pollutant dispersion over a two-dimensional sinusoidal hilly obstacle with slope (the ratio of height to half width) of 0.7 have been investigated experimentally and numerically. Flow over a single sinusoidal hill model was visualized in a subsonic wind tunnel. The mean velocity profiles, turbulence statistics, and pollutant concentration distribution were measured at the Reynolds number based on the obstacle height (H=40mm) oft $2.6\times10^4$. Experimental results for flow over a flat ground were agreed with the theoretical and numerical results. When a pollutant source is located behind the hilly terrain, the pollutant dispersion appeared even in the upstream region due to recirculation flow.
Recently, according to the increasingly populated data, many media and organizations focus on big data, data visualization, information visualization and infographics. Domestically, Chosun.com and Hankyoreh online have improved on the data visualization field and internationally, the Guardian, Wall Street Journal, and New York Times are the leading companies on that area. Until now, many people have recognized infographics as a design-oriented product in Korea. However, one of significant data visualization programs, Tableau Public, can visualize data more efficiently. In this paper, Data Visualization Methods Quadrant for Policy Making is defined, and data analysis and producing infographics are executed. As used data, World Bank open source was adopted and using the number of passenger cars per 1,000 people, two analysis results are extracted. First, in high income group, the more GNI per capita, the lesser Slope is represented and in mid income group, the more GNI per capita positively affects to Slope. Second, in the global finance crisis, the car ownership rate was about 1.7 times than the usual state in the global economy. Through the case study, this paper suggests that the direction of producing infographics should be changed from design-oriented to data-oriented. Moreover, the data-oriented infographics should be propagated as means of scientific research and policy making.
This study describes image-based approach for efficient and objective evaluation method of the rock slope stability. Three-dimensional rock slope model was reconstructed by processing stereo digital images. The model provided fundamental information for geospatial analysis of the rock slope. Methods to extract three-dimensional information about discontinuity on the rock slope and to estimate roughness of the rock surfaces were suggested. The results show that stereo digital images have potential to provide information for both quantitative and qualitative analysis of rock slope. In addition, visualization of the results increases efficiency and benefit in evaluating rock slope stability.
