  • A parallel-plate waveguide with a slit in its upper plate is analysed. An integral equation is formulated for the equivalent magnetic current and solved by the conventional moment method. Numerical results are presented for the magnetic current, reflection and transmission coefficients, a normalized radiated power in the slit, and equivalent circuit parameters. The equivalent circuit parameters are an useful quantities in the study of the E-plane coupled microstrip antennas.

  • 본 논문에서는 플랜지된 평행 평판 도파관의 슬릿을 통한 도체 스트립과의 전자기적인 결합을 연구하였다. 슬릿의 전계와 스트립의 유기 전류에 관한 결합 적미분 방정식을 유도하고 모멘트 방법으로 풀었다. 몇 가지 슬릿을 통한 최대 결합 현상들의 특성을 도체 스트립의 위치, 동작 주파수, 스트립의 길이 등 다양한 파라미터에 대한 슬릿의 등가 어드미턴스와 결합 전력의 변화를 통해 조사하였다.

Study of a new type of steel slit shear wall with introduced out-of-plane folding

  • The steel slit shear wall (SSSW), made by cutting vertical slits in a steel plate, is increasingly used for the seismic protection of building structures. In the domain of thin plate shear walls, the out-of-plane buckling together with the potential fracture developed at slit ends at large lateral deformation may result in degraded shear strength and energy dissipation, which is not desirable in view of seismic design. To address this issue, the present study proposed a new type of SSSW made by intentionally introducing initial out-of-plane folding into the originally flat slitted plate. Quasi-static cyclic tests on three SSSWs with different amplitudes of introduced out-of-plane folding were conducted to study their shear strength, elastic stiffness, energy dissipation capacity and buckling behavior. By introducing proper amplitude of out-of-plane folding into the SSSW fracture at slit ends was eliminated, plumper hysteretic behavior was obtained and there was nearly no strength degradation. A method to estimate the shear strength and elastic stiffness of the new SSSW was also proposed.

삼각형 도체판 장하에 의한 무한 도체 평판 슬릿의 침투 전자파 저감 특성 (Reduction Characteristics of Electromagnetic Penetration through a Slit in a Conducting Screen by a Loaded Triangle Plate)

  • 본 논문에서는 무한 도체 평판의 슬릿 부근에 도체판을 부가하여 슬릿으로 침투하는 전자파의 저감 특성을 검토하였다. 이론 해석에는 FDTD 법을 사용하였으며, 부가 도체판의 형상 및 길이, 간격, 두께의 변화에 따른 침투 전계의 특성을 계산하여 부가 도체판의 구조 변화가 침투 전자파의 저감 특성 및 차폐 효과 특성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. 그 결과, 부가 도체판의 구조 변화에 따라 차폐 효과, 침투 전계의 특성이 변화하는 것을 관찰할 수 있었고, 침투 전계를 최소로 하는 부가 도체판의 최적 구조가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다.

다양한 형상의 판형 휜을 장착한 원통다관형 열교환기의 열성능 해석 (Thermal Performance Analysis of a Shell-and-Tube Heat Exchanger with Plate Fins of Various Shape)

  • In this study, a highly efficient shell-and-tube heat exchanger with plate fins is considered to improve thermal performance of the conventional shell-and-tube heat exchanger. This type of shell-and-tube heat exchanger with plate fins of various shape is simulated three-dimensionally using a commercial thermal-fluid analysis code. CFX4.4. The effect of the shape of the plate fin on heat transfer characteristics is also investigated by the simulation. Plate fins of four different shapes. plane, plane-slit. wave. and wave-slit fins, are considered. The flow fields, pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics in the heat exchanger are calculated. It is proved that the shell-and-tube heat exchanger with plate fins is superior to the conventional shell-and-tube heat exchanger without plate fins in terms of heat transfer. The shape of the plate fin is important in the performance of a heat exchanger such as heat transfer and pressure drop.

슬릿 내부 반사를 이용한 광학식 인코더의 광경로 해석 (Optical Path Analysis for the Optical Encoder using Slit Internal Reflection)

  • This paper introduces an optical encoder using the reflection in the slit. The digital optical encoder is a sensor to generate a pulse according to the displacement. An optical encoder is composed of 3 parts: light source, slit plate and light-receiving element. In a conventional encoder, one slit produces one signal. The resolution of the digital optical encoder is determined by the number of slits in the encoder plate. The small slit size is most important among the factors that determine the resolution in a generic-type optical encoder. However, a small slit has low productivity and technical difficulties, so analog optical encoders have emerged as an alternative. Nonetheless, this alternative requires additional circuitry and equipment because of the noise and drafts in the analog signals. A new sensor is presented in this paper with a high resolution and a slit of the same size using the reflection in the slit. Then, the path of the light that passes through the slit ccording to the shape was analyzed, and some paths were expressed in the mathematical expressions. In addition, the optical paths were analyzed in the rectangular, octagonal, and circular encoders, and shown the obtained number of signals per slit by using them. Thus, we confirm that this method has the best performance in circle-shaped slits.

  • The resistance of a structure against an earthquake is related to its ability to absorb the seismic input energy. The development of devices for dissipating the seismically induced energy on the structure is a subject that is receiving large attentionin the field of earthquake engineering. One example of these devices is the steel plate with slits. In this paper, a connection with a slit-type steel plate damper installed at each ends of wide-flange section beam, as an energy absorption element, was proposed. A series of experiment was performed to investigate their behavior and structural characteristic. The main parameters were the aspect ratio of the struts in slit plates, thickness of the struts and height of the vertical plates. Test results indicated that most of the energy was absorbed by plastic deformation of slit plate dampers.

  • 본 연구에서는 유전체 슬랩으로 덮힌 평행평판 도파관의 좁은 슬릿을 통한 유전체슬랩 위의 도체 스트립과의 전자기적인 결합을 고려하였다. 제안된 구조에서 관찰되는 두 가지의 대조적인 결합현상인 캐비티형 결합과 기생형 결합의 차이점을 도체 스트립의 길이 및 위치, 도체 스트립에 유기된 전류, 복사패턴, 대역폭, 결합슬릿 근처의 전자계분포 등을 비교하여 관찰하였다.

틈새 장벽을 이용한 효과적인 오존 발생 (Effective Ozone Generation Utilizing a Slit Barrier)

  • In this paper a new wire-wire discharge system with a slit dielectric harrier has been proposed, and, its corona discharge and ozone generation characteristics have been investigated experimentally. When the slit mica barrier is installed between corona wires, instead of the grounded plate electrode, a significant increase in the generation of ozone, about 2.2 times higher than that of the conventional ones without the slit harrier, could be obtained. Photographs show that this type of discharge system with a slit barrier was found to produce a corona discharge twice, once from the upper and bottom corona wires, and. again from both sides of surfaces and slits of the slit barrier. As a result, the proposed discharge system has the potential to increase significantly ozone production and it may be useful as an effective means for removing pollutant gases.
