  • Yaw moment control algorithm for improving stability of a vehicle in cornering is presented in this paper. A change of the yaw moment according to an increment in brake ship at each wheel is examined and reflected in the control algorithm. This control algorithm computes the target yaw velocity as the vehicle motion desired by the driver for directional stability control in cornering and it makes the actual yaw velocity follow the target one. The yaw moment control was achieved by brake slip control and simple brake slip control logic was introduced in this paper.

열-나노임프린트 리소그래피 공정에서의 폴리머 유동에 대한 해석적 접근 (Analytical Approach of Polymer Flow in Thermal Nanoimprint Lithography)

  • Nanoimprint lithography(NIL) is becoming next generation lithography of significant interest due to its low cost and a potential patterning resolution of 10nm or less. Success of the NIL relies on the adequate conditions of pressure, temperature and time. To have the adequate conditions for NIL, one has to understand the polymer flowing behavior during the imprinting process. In this paper, an analytical approach of polymer flow in thermal NIL was performed based on the squeeze flow with partial slip boundary conditions. Velocity profiles and pressure distributions of the polymer flow were obtained and imprinting forces and residual thickness were predicted with the consideration of the slip velocity between the polymer and the mold/substrate. The results show that the consideration of the slip is very important for investigating the polymer flow in Thermal NIL.

철도 차량 속도에 따른 레일 마모 현상에 관한 연구 (A Study of Rail Wear by Change of Train Velocity)

  • In this paper, slip wear phenomenon of train was studied by traction force of acceleration and braking force of deceleration. First, the slip wear phenomenon on train operation mode was analyzed when powering, coasting and braking each and then rail wear was analyzed from the slip wear data. Especially, the data proved correlation between slip wear and deceleration rather than acceleration. Second, If velocity of a train is constant, even though the velocity is high, ATO logging data and measurement data proved that the rail wear is not serious. It will help for efficient braking force operation providing fundamental data to braking step control.

Estimation of longitudinal velocity noise for rail wheelset adhesion and error level

  • The longitudinal velocity (forward speed) having significant importance in proper running of railway wheelset on track, depends greatly upon the adhesion ratio and creep analysis by implementation of suitable dynamic system on contamination. The wet track condition causes slip and slide of vehicle on railway tracking, whereas high speed may also increase slip and skidding to severe wear and deterioration of mechanical parts. The basic aim of this research is to design appropriate model aimed estimator that can be used to control railway vehicle forward velocity to avoid slip. For the filtration of disturbance procured during running of vehicle, the kalman filter is applied to estimate the actual signal on preferered samples of creep co-efficient for observing the applied attitude of noise. Thus error level is detected on higher and lower co-efficient of creep to analyze adhesion to avoid slip and sliding. The skidding is usually occurred due to higher forward speed owing to procured disturbance. This paper guides to minimize the noise and error based upon creep coefficient.

Slip-Weakening 모델의 확장과 단층 파열속도의 추정 (Extended Slip-Weakening Model and Inference of Rupture Velocity)

  • The slip-weakening model developed by Ohnaka and Yamashita is extended over the breakdown zone by equating the scaling relationships for the breakdown zone and the whole rupture area. For the extension, the study uses the relationship between rupture velocity and radiation efficiency, which was derived in the theory of linear elastic fracture mechanics, and the definition of fmax given in the specific barrier model proposed by Papageorgiou and Aki. The results clearly show that the extended scaling relationship is governed by the ratio of rupture velocity to S wave velocity, and the velocity ratio can be determined by the ratio of characteristic frequencies of a Fourier amplitude spectrum, which are corner frequency, fc, and source-controlled cut-off frequency, fmax, or vice versa. The derived relationship is tested by using the characteristic frequencies extracted from previous studies of more than 130 shallow crustal events (focal depth less than 25 km, MW 3.0~7.5) that occurred in Japan. Under the assumption of a dynamic similarity, the rupture velocity estimated from fmax/fc and the modified integral timescale give quite similar scale-dependence of the rupture area to that given by Kanamori and Anderson. Also, the results for large earthquakes show good agreement to the values from a kinematic inversion in previous studies. The test results also indicate the unavailability of the spectral self-similarity proposed by Aki because of the scale-dependent rupture velocity and the rupture velocity-dependent fmax/fc; however, the results do support the local similarity asserted by Ohnaka. It is also remarkable that the relationship between the rupture velocity and fmax/fc is quite similar to Kolmogorov's hypothesis on a similarity in the theory of isotropic turbulence.

슬립폼 시스템 상승속도 결정에 요구되는 콘크리트에서의 초기경화시간 결정을 위한 연구 (A Study on the Determination of Setting Time of Concrete in the Determination of Slip-up Speed for Slip-Form System)

  • 초장대교 콘크리트 고주탑 시공시에 사용되고 있는 슬립폼 시스템의 상승속도를 결정하는 요소인 초기경화시간은 콘크리트가 거푸집에서 안전하게 빠져나올 수 있는 굳기를 갖게 되는 콘크리트 타설 후 경화시간으로서, 배합 시 단위시멘트량 및 타설시 여러 현장 환경에 크게 영향을 받으므로, 콘크리트 타설 전에 초기경화시간을 정확히 파악하는 것은 매우 어렵다. 따라서 슬립폼 시스템의 안전성 확보 및 콘크리트면의 유지관리 문제가 발생하지 않도록 초기경화시간 결정을 위한 콘크리트 경화정도를 파악하는 기술이 필요하다. 더구나 슬립폼 공법은 연속적인 시공이 이루어지므로 거푸집 탈형 전 콘크리트의 경화정도를 연속적으로 파악할 수 있어야 한다. 초음파를 이용한 기법은 콘크리트면에 초음파를 투과시켜 투과된 신호를 측정 및 분석하는 방법으로 정량적이며 연속적으로 콘크리트의 경화정도를 파악할 수 있다. 특히 표면파 속도를 이용하는 기법은 표면을 따라 전파하는 표면파의 특성을 이용한 것으로서 표면파 속도의 변화를 통해 콘크리트 경화정도를 알 수 있으며, 주탑과 같이 두께가 두꺼운 콘크리트 구조물에 적용이 적합하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 표면파 속도를 이용하여 콘크리트의 경화정도를 추정함으로서 슬립폼 시스템의 상승속도를 결정하는 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 슬립폼 시스템 상승속도와 초기경화시간과의 관계식을 유도하였으며, 표면파 진행문제의 수치해석 결과를 연속웨이블릿변환 하여 표면파 속도를 추정하였다. 이때 탄성파 발생위치와 두 개의 수신점 거리에 따른 추정된 표면파 속도의 정밀도를 조사하였으며, 추정된 표면파 속도와 탄성계수와의 관계를 조사하였다.

Holdup and Flow Behavior of Fluidized Solid Particles in a Liquid-Solid Circulating Fluidized Bed

  • Characteristics of holdup and flow behavior of fluidized solid particles were investigated in a liquid-solid circulating fluidized bed ($0.102m{\times}3.5m$). Effects of liquid velocity ($U_L$), particle size ($d_P$) and solid circulation rate ($G_S$) on the solid holdup, overall particle rising velocity, slip velocity between liquid and particles and hydrodynamic energy dissipation rate in the riser were examined. The particle holdup increased with increasing $d_P$ or $G_S$ but decreased with increasing $U_L$. The overall particle rising velocity increased with increasing $U_L$ or $G_S$ but decreased with increasing $d_P$. The slip velocity increased with increasing $U_L$ or $d_P$ but did not change considerably with $G_S$. The energy dissipation rate, which was found to be closely related to the contacting frequency of micro eddies, increased with increasing $d_P$, $G_S$ or $U_L$. The solid particle holdup was well correlated with operating variables such as $U_L$, $d_P$ and $G_S$.

Processing parallel-disk viscometry data in the presence of wall slip

  • This paper describes a two-step Tikhonov regularization procedure for converting the steady shear data generated by parallel-disk viscometers, in the presence of wall slip, into a shear stress-shear rate function and a wall shear stress-slip velocity functions. If the material under test has a yield stress or a critical wall shear stress below which no slip is observed the method will also provide an estimate of these stresses. Amplification of measurement noise is kept under control by the introduction of two separate regularization parameters and Generalized Cross Validation is used to guide the selection of these parameters. The performance of this procedure is demonstrated by applying it to the parallel disk data of an oil-in-water emulsion, of a foam and of a mayonnaise.

A Dynamic Method for Boundary Conditions in Lattice Boltzmann method

  • It has been confirmed that implementation of the no-slip boundary conditions for the lattice-Boltzmann method play an important role in the overall accuracy of the numerical solutions as well as the stability of the solution procedure. We in this paper propose a new algorithm, i.e. the method of the dynamic boundary condition for no-slip boundary condition. The distribution functions on the wall along each of the links across the physical boundary are assumed to be composed of equilibrium and nonequilibrium parts which inherit the idea of Guo's extrapolation method. In the proposed algorithm, we apply a dynamic equation to reflect the computational slip velocity error occurred on the actual wall boundary to the correction; the calculated slip velocity error dynamically corrects the fictitious velocity on the wall nodes which are subsequently employed to the computation of equilibrium distribution functions on the wall nodes. Along with the dynamic selfcorrecting process, the calculation efficiently approaches the steady state. Numerical results show that the dynamic boundary method is featured with high accuracy and simplicity.

다양한 벽 경계조건을 이용한 정사각형 항구의 흐름구조 예측 (Flow Structure Prediction for a Square Harbour using Various Wall Boundary Conditions)

  • A model harbour with Plan scale of $1.08{\times}1.08m$ is built on a tidal tank using a Froude relationship from a real harbour($432{\times}432m$). Velocity components are measured by a ultrasonic velocity meter and flow structure is then predicted using a 2-D depth integrated hydrodynamic model. In the finite difference model implemented in this study, various wall boundary conditions, i.e. no-slip, free-slip, partial-slip and semi-slip are used to represent turbulent diffusion terms, e.g. ${\partial}^2U_{ij}/{\partial}x^2\;or\;{\partial}^2U_{ij}/{\partial}y^2$. These conditions are focused to investigate their influence on the flow structure along the wall and basin of the harbour with aspect ratio of unity, i.e. Length/Breadth. Numerical experiments are compared with the measurements and used to analyse flow patterns in the basin during tidal cycles. It is shown from the results that no-slip closed boundary condition is the most appropriate method with respect to the location of the eddy centre, although the condition underestimates velocity components along the wall.
