It was carried out to investigate the antibiotic residues detected by the residue tests for edible tissues of slaughtered livestock in Korea from January to November in 2019. Positive cases of qualitative test and analytical test for 11 months were 689 and 341, respectively. Positive cases of analytical test for cattle, pigs, horses and poultry were 164, 168, 2 and 7, respectively. Antibiotics were detected from 472 materials from 341 cases and classified as β-lactams 162 (37.9%), aminoglycosides 141 (33%), quinolones 69 (16.2%), sulfonamides 23 (5.4%), amphenicols 10 (2.3%), tetracyclines 9 (2.1%), macrolides 6 (1.4%) and the rest 7 (1.4%). Other materials were benzyl penicillin 119 (27.9%), (dihydro)streptomycin 105 (24.6%) and enrofloxacin (including ciprofloxacin) 39 (9.1%). In conclusion, strict management of benzyl penicillin and streptomycin in cattle and pigs should be implemented to reduce the positive cases of slaughtered livestock in Korea.
A slaughtered 3 years old cow was diagnosed as bovine leukosis by postmortem inspection, agar gel immunodifusion (AGID) test, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). It showed no special clinical signs except emaciation. Grossly, we observed enlargement of mediastinal and pelvic lymph nodes, and tubercle -like mass on pleura and lung surface, and masses on right atrium and ventricle.

This study was carried out to investigate the prevalence of Ascaris suum infection of slaughtered pigs in Chungju and Eumseong area from January to June in 2007. The percentage of pigs and farms detected milk spot, adult worm, and adult worm in detected milk spot were 4.2% and 23.8%, 0.2% and 9.3%, and 4.9% and 39%, respectively. The prevalence of A suum infection from April to June 2007 was lower than that of January to March 2007. There is not enough of difference in farms' infection rate based on their breeding type.
Respiratory diseases are common in swine industry and have great economic importance. Respiratory disorders cause substantial losses to the swine industry. Losses associated with respiratory disease vary considerably between herds and seasons. In a survey was carry out to investigate the lesion of red internal organs in slaughtered pigs and provided assistant data which are useful for each farm. From november 2012 to december 2013, 1,680 pigs out of 84 farms were sampled in Jeonbuk province. Gross lesions such as swine enzootic pneumonia (SEP), pleuritis, pleuropneumonia, pericarditis, liver milk spot were examined for the pigs. Overall prevalence of SEP was 55.7%. According to season, the incidence occurred higher in fall than winter, spring, and summer. The mean SEP score was 0.91, the highest incidence occurred in fall. The prevalence of pleuropneumonia, pleuritis, pericarditis, and milk spot was 36.4%, 49.7%, 2.3%, and 8.8%, respectively. The positive rate of PRRS and PCV2 was 2.9% and 70.0% by PCR analysis.
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis is the pathogen of paratuberculosis called Johne's disease. Johne's disease is hardly eliminated because of its long latent period and continuous dissemination, so it is found in ruminants worldwide and can cause substantial economic losses in cattle. It has been reported in many studies on the distribution of Johne's disease in some provinces of Korea that not many, but noticeable numbers of infected cows have been detected since the first detection in 1984. The aims of this study was to investigate the prevalence of Johne's disease obtained from slaughtered cattle in central area of Gyeongnam province, Korea. In this study, the ELISA serum antibody test and PCR were employed on a total of 240 blood and ileac substrate samples from slaughtered cattle in two slaughtering and wholesale centers in Gyeongsangnam-do Livestock Veterinary Research Institute Central Branch. Out of the entire 240 blood samples, three (1.3%) were positive by ELISA, while five (2.1%) were suspected cattle. But ileac substrate samples, eight (3.3%) were positive by PCR. By breeds, positive rates of ELISA and PCR in Korean native cattle were 1.3% and 3.5%, respectively, but no positive cows were found in dairy cattle. By provinces, sero-positive rates of Gyeongnam and Gyeongbuk were 1.6% and 1.3%, respectively. And PCR positive rates of Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk and other provinces were 2.4%, 5.0% and 2.8%, respectively. These results indicate that it requires the nationwide monitoring test and measure to deal with subclinically infected slaughtering cows.
Respiratory disease in pigs is common in modern pork production worldwide and is often referred to as porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC). PRDC is polymicrobial in nature, and results from infection with various combinations of primary and secondary respiratory pathogens. The control of swine respiratory disease requires an understanding of the interactions between the organisms that can cause this illness, the pig and management of the environment. This study was carried out to investigate the lesion of red internal organs in slaughtered pigs and provided assistant data for pig farms. A total of 900 lung samples, 45 farms were collected randomly from slaughtered pigs in Jeonbuk province from April to December in 2014. Gross lesions such as swine enzootic pneumonia (SEP), pleuritis, pleuropneumonia, pericarditis, liver white spots were examined for the pigs. Overall prevalence of SEP was 70.8%. According to season, the incidence occurred higher in summer than winter, fall and spring. The mean SEP score was 1.4, the highest incidence occurred in fall. The prevalence of pleuropneumonia, pleuritis, pericarditis, and milk spot was 26.1%, 71.4%, 2.8%, 21.6%, respectively. In the detection of pathogens, PRRS was not detected, PCV2 was positive in 87.6%.
Porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC) continues to be a significant economic problem to the swine industry. In order to elucidate the etiology of PRDC including porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2), porcine reproductive and respiratory disease syndrome virus (PRRSV), swine influenza virus (SIV), Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae (MH), Pasteurella multocida (PM) and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) in Namwon, the 455 lung samples were randomly collected from slaughtered pigs, examined gross lesions indicative of respiratory disease of lung and classified the lung lesion according to the severity of lung lesions. Two hundred pigs lung tissues with pneumonic lesions were examined for pathogen by PCR. As a result, the numbers of pneumonic lesions were 357 (78.5%), mean pneumonic score ($mean{\pm}SD$) was $2.03{\pm}0.90$ and the highest gross lesion according to stages was 1 (11~20%). In detection of pathogens, PCV2, PRRSV, SIV, MH, APP and PM were positive in 76.5%, 5.0%, 6.0%, 9.0%, 4.5% and 6.0%, respectively and PCV2-MH was the most detected causative pathogens of PRDC in co-infection. In the serological test for PRRSV, PCV2, MH, APP2, APP5, HP and PM, showed high antibody positive rates 93% or more.
Uremia was diagnosed in a slaughtered 20-month old bull. It had no special clinical signs, but many lesions associated with uremia were observed at postmortem inspection. It had a lot of ascites. Kidney, urinary bladder and ureter were enlarged, congested and hemorrhagic, and the incised section of those slightly smelled nasty. However, the precise cause of uremia in this case could not be completely identified.

A research study was undertaken to quantify fascioliasis in both live and slaughtered zebu cattle at Savar, Bangladesh. Eggs of Fasciola gigantica per gram of feces (EPG) was determined in a total of 213 fasciola infested live cattle. The EPG per animal ranged from 100 to 400 (mean $138.03{\pm}4.27SE$). Counting of F. gigantica was made in a total of 63 fasciola infested livers of slaughtered cattle. Number of immature flukes per liver ranged from 0 to 37 (mean $8.74{\pm}0.85SE$) and mature flukes ranged from 2 to 121 (mean $20.54{\pm}2.23SE$). Total load of flukes recovered per liver varied from 4 to 132 (mean $29.28{\pm}2.42SE$). Significantly higher EPG (p < 0.05) and higher load of flukes in the livers (p < 0.01) were observed from September to December (post monsoon and winter). The EPG and fluke counts were found significantly higher (p < 0.01) in animals after one year of age and these were also higher in female animals (p < 0.05) than the males.
This studies were carried out to investigate the rearing managements of pig farms and survey on pneumonia of the slaughtered pigs from 5 selected herds located in Jangsu, Jeonbuk. Isolated aerobic microorganisms from pneumonic lung were examined antibiotic susceptibility and tested serological antibody titers of the herd base. Prevalence rate of pneumonia were examined according to rearing and health management conditions of pig farms. Prevalence rate of pneumonia were detected in 78.8% and enzotic pneumonia. In 47.7%, pleuropneurnonia in 31.1%. In serological antibody titers showed the positive reaction with 54.4% in Actinobacillus pleuropneumonia serotype 5, 44.8% in Pasteurella multocida, 36.8% in A pleuropneurnonia serotype 2, 13.6% in Mycoplasmal pneumonia. Isolated aerobic microorganisms were examined antibiotic susceptibility and showed the high activity in gentamicin (58.3%), enrofloxacin (53.3%), norfloxacin (51.6%), cephalothin (41.7%) and low activity in amoxycillin (98.3%), oxytetracycline (98.3%), penicillin G (90.0 %), tetracycline (88.4%), ampicillin (88.3%). Farm managements were deficient effect of humidity in swine house but ammonia gas all appeared the 10 ppm that were recommendation density, below.
