Backgrounds: The purpose of this study was to compare full thickness skin graft with inguinal skin to split thickness skin graft for coverage of the radial forearm free flap donor site. Patients and Methods: 25 patients who was reconstructed with radial forearm free flap for head and neck cancer were reviewed retrospectively. Results: The graft loss rates of full thickness skin graft were less than split thickness skin graft or split thickness skin graft with dermal substitutes. The recovery times of donor site and skin graft donor site of full thickness skin graft were also shorter than split thickness skin graft or split thickness skin graft with dermal substitutes. Skin texture and aesthetic results of donor site were improved and complications as itching and pain sensation were decreased. Conclusion: Full thickness skin grafts with inguinal skin should be considered for patients requiring a radial forearm free flap.

A man visited the Dept. of Oriental Medical Ophthalmology & Otolaryngology & Dermatology Hospital, Dong-eui University with the dermatitis exfoliativa by drug eruption. He was suffering from the whole body itching, rubefaction, edema, scale and the feeling a chill. The drug eruption's cause assumed antibiotics. We treated a patient with Oriental Medicines(the herbal medicine of internal use and external use), aroma oils and acupuncture. After four days or so, the itching, rubefaction, edema of the skin was recovered remarkably. After one weeks or so, the scale of the skin disease was improved remarkably, we think that these are good cases to treat with Oriental Medicine, Yeongyopaedog-san. We suggest that Oriental Herb medicines have an effect with the dermatitis exfoliativa and the drug eruption.

1. Objectives The purpose of this study was to give an account of the effects of Sasang constitutional medicine and fasting therapy for the patient who has suffered from various signs or symptoms caused by psoriasis. 2. Methods The cases were one 50-year old man diagnosed as Taeeumin and one 29-year old man diagnosed as Soyangin. They all have the symptoms caused by psoriasis, such as rash, erythema, scaly skin, itching, etc. So we've recorded the progress of their symptoms as a score at the tables to check their conditions throughout the hospitalized period. We've diagnosed them as Soyangin, Taeeumin have prescribed Yangdokbaecho-tang and Galgeunhaegi-tang and have carried out fasting therapy. 3. Results and Conclusions The general condition of the patient have improved incredibly, where the each scores at the tables dropped from 4 to 0,1 and their symptoms like rash, erythema, scaly skin, itching, edema have almost disappeared at the end of the hospitalization period. This indicates that Yangdokbaecho-tang and Galgeunhaegi-tang can be used to treat main symptoms of psoriasis and fasting therapy can be used as a subsidiary therapy for the psoriasis.

Objetives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Oryeong-san on adult whole-body atopic dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 21-year-old male patient who have adult whole-body atopic dermatitis by Korean medicine. This treatment was enforced from 2019.5.25 to 2019.6.29. And we have confirmed the improvement of itching, rashes and oozing. We recorded photos that includes change of symptoms. Results : After the treatments was done, the grade of VAS and SCORAD was decreased. The VAS grade was decreased from grade 8 to grade 2. The SCORAD score was decreased from 72.1 to 52.1. And itching, rashes, oozing were clearly decreased. Conclusions : Oryeong-san has effect on decreasing itching, rashes and oozing. Also, sleeping time reduced due to itchness was normalized. Thus, It is able that Oryeong-san works on skin desease like atopic dermatitis.

Purpose: Wound healing and scar management of donor site after skin graft should not be overlooked. Patients continue to complain of dryness, itching sensation. Such discomfort can cause irritation to the patients and lead to delayed healing or secondary infection. Thus, the author predicted Eucalyptus Oil, which acts on Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 8 would be effective in regulating scar by reducing itching sensation in donor site when combining conventional silicone materials. Methods: The study was performed on 30 patients who underwent split thickness skin graft with lateral thigh as donor site between January 2017 and August 2018. First, primary evaluation of fully epithelized donor site scar three weeks after surgery was conducted. Control group (n=15) applied silicone gel (Kelo-cote, USA) solely two times a day. study group (n=15) applied Eucalyptus oil, combined with silicone gel. After 3 months of follow up, donor scar was evaluated using Vancouver scar scale and VAS scores of subjective patient reports regarding pain and itching sensation. Results: It was confirmed that both groups showed stable scar improvement comparing scar quality for 3 months. After 3 months, scar quality in study group showed superiority in pigmentation, pliability and pruritus compared to control group. Conclusion: Application of Eucalyptus Oil combined with conventional silicone gel is favorable to scar management and may give additional benefit of alleviating pruritis symptoms.

Drug eruption is a relatively commin dermatological disorder and may cause significant problems. The treatment is to stop using a drug that may cuase a drug eruption. In some cases, steroids and antihistamines can be used supportively. According to some reports, Onchungeum(溫淸飮) has steroid-like effects and antihistaminic effects. We administered Onchungeum(溫淸飮) a patient with severe itching because of a drug eruption. After administration of Onchungeum(溫淸飮), itching decreased to much degrees. It can be suggested that Onchungeum(溫淸飮) can be used to treat symptoms of allergic skin disease like a drug eruption.

This investigation was undertaken to establish more accurately the clinical features of the desease as seen in Korea, and to investigate susceptibility factors and to study the ecology of P. orbiculare in this condition. All of 50 new patients with Tinea versicolor attending the Ewha University Hospital, during a period of 6 months were studied personally. 1. Clinical feature: The sex ratio of the whole series was 32 males to 18 females. Twenty of 50 patients (40%) were between the age of 20 to 29 years. The duration of disease was more than 4 months in 37 of 50 patients (74%). The cases of first onset in June, July and August were 33 of 50 patients (66%). Whereas, the developed in December, January and February were only 3 of 50 patients (6%). Seasonal fluctuation was remarkable in 16 of 25 patients (66.7%) who had the duration of more than 1 year. The course of disease was rapid in 33 of 50 patients (66%) and slow in 9 of 50 patients (18%). Thirty-three of 50 patients (66%) had not any subjective symptoms. Thirteen patients (26%) had mild itching sensation and 4 patients (8%) had severe itching. The frequency of the first affected were neck (27.4%), axilla (19.2%) anterior chest (15.0%) and groin (11.0%). 7) Hyperpigmented lesions were observed in 35 of 50 patients (70%) and hypopigmented lesions were observed in 11 of 50 patients (22%). Skin lesions were noticed mainly in the anterior chest, neck, back and axilla, and more severe in the anterior chest, back and abdomen than other areas. Tinea versicolor was particularly prevalent in those persons who had occupations of mental work and who perspired every day or every 2 or 3 days. A positive family history of Tinea versicolor was obtained in 7 of 50 patients (14%). Fourteen of 50 patients (28%) had association with superficial fungal infections. 2. Mycological features: Typical appearance of M. furfur was observed in all scrapings from 25 lesions and only 3 scrapings from 20 clinically skin of the patients. P. orbiculare was seen on direct examination of scrapings from 24 of 25 skin lesions, from 19 of 20. clinically normal skin of patients and from 18 of 29 control normal skin. The quantity of P. orbiculare was greater in skin lesions and clinically normal skin area than in control normal skin surfaces.

The effects of IPBC on dandruff were examined by evaluating (a) the MIC value of IPBC using broth dilution method; (b) the remnant antimicrobial activity of IPBC containing shampoo on skin disc; (c) the antidandruff efficacy of 1.0 % IPBC containing shampoo in double blind clinical trial. To investigate the remnant antimicrobial activity of IPBC against Malassezia furfur, guinea pig-skin disc was washed with antidandruff shampoo and then the diameter of inhibition zone per disc was measured. For clinical trial, thirty healthy volunteers, aged 25-35, participated in 4 week study. At 0, 2, 4 weeks, examinations of scaling, itching on scalp were carried out. The MIC(Minimun Inhibition Concentration) values of IPBC range from 0.10 to 1.00${\mu}g/ml$ and it seems that IPBC is more effective in the MIC values than zinc pyrithione, selenium disulphide, piroctone olamine and comparable to ketoconazole, climbazole. When the remnant antimicrobial activity of IPBC shampoo on skin disc was determined, 0.5% IPBC shampoo and 2.0% Ketoconazole shampoo resulted in similar antimicrobial effect. In addition, 1.0%, 2.0% IPBC shampoo was more effective than 2.0% ketoconazole shampoo. After two and four-weeks of 1.0% IPBC shampoo treatment, there was significant reduction of scaling, itching in test group compared to control group. On the basis of these results, it can be concluded that 1.0% IPBC is more effective than 2.0% Ketoconazole in reducing dandruff. It seems that strong capacity of drug binding to the stratum corneum plays a role in its antidandruff effect since adsorption of active ingredients on scalp is very important factor in reducing dandruff.

Objective : The purpose of this report is to know the effect of Korean medical treatments on exfloliative dermatitis. Methods : We treated a 25-years-old man patient with exfloliative dermatitis on the limbs and back with Korean medicine. After Korean medical teatment for 26 days, we measured the decrease of dermatitis and recovery of skin exfloliate. We recorded pictures of changes on symptoms. Result & Conclusion : The symptoms of exfloliative dermatitis were significantly improved. The dry skin and itching were disappeared and skin damages were almost recovered. Thus Korean medical treatments are effective on exfloliative dermatitis.
