On-Line Sliding Mode Controller Design from a Single Closed Loop Test (단일 폐루프 테스트를 통한 온라인 슬라이딩 모드 제어기 설계)

  • The calculation of parameters of a process model is modified to find better sliding mode controller for a process. A design method by Camacho has such problems as chattering and overshoot due to the Taylor the approximation errors for the time delay term of the first order model. In this paper, a new design technique for a sliding mode controller is proposed by introducing the modified Pade approximation considering the weight factor. With the proposed method, the process response can be directly used to estimate the system parameters without any numerical processing.

  • This paper proposes a new anti-islanding method for single-phase grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) systems using Goertzel algorithm. The proposed scheme is based on inducing increases or decreases of frequencies of load voltage and current that is in the form of existences or periodical variations of the reactive power components. The frequency detection is needed to apply this power variation method to the grid-connected power converter. The proposed method is able to get a fast detection for anti-islanding without the effect of harmonics and noises. The simulation and experiment results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • A New Direct AC LED Driver has been proposed for wide output power range and precise constant current regulation using an advanced auto commutation topology. The conventional shunt regulation method provides a stepped input current shape by fixed regulation references in the linear regulator of the each channel, which results in poor current regulation and high THD. The conventional method needs to assign a linear regulator in each LED channel so that the number of linear regulator increases when extending the number of channels especially at high power application. The proposed regulation method can drive multiple switches to regulate each LED channel current by a single amplifier with sinusoidal reference so that large number of LED channel can be simply extended with less BOM cost and low THD is obtained with the accurate current regulation thanks to the sinusoidal input current control in the closed loop control. To confirm the validity of the proposed circuit, theoretical analysis and experimental results from a 20-W LED driver prototype are presented.

  • As the fact that the simple data of text and sound in early year have been changed to be high quality images and sounds. PLL(Phase-Locked Loop) system plays an important role in communication system. VCO(Voltage Controlled Oscillator) is the most important part in PLL system because it can have critical effects on operation of PLL. Recently, it has been raised the necessity of high speed and high accuracy circuit application. In this paper, a new differential voltage clamped VCO using negative-skewed path is suggested. Using a dual-delay scheme to implement the VCO, higher operation frequency and wider tuning are achieved simultaneously. The dual-delay scheme means that both the negative skewed delay paths and the normal delay paths exist in the same ring oscillator. The negative skewed delay paths decrease the unit delay time of the ring oscillator below the single inverter delay time. As a result, higher operation frequency can be obtained. The whole characteristics of VCO are simulated by using HSPICE. Simulation results show that the resulting operating frequencies are 50% higher than those obtainable from the conventional approaches.

Ginger Extract as Green Corrosion Inhibitor for Steel in Sulfide Polluted Salt Water

  • Extract of ginger has been evaluated as a green inhibitor for the corrosion of steel in sulfide polluted NaCl solution using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and electrochemical frequency modulation (EFM) techniques. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that this extract acts as a mixed type inhibitor but mainly inhibits the cathodic reaction. The inhibition efficiency was found to increase with inhibitor concentration reaching to approximately 83.9% using 250 ppm of ginger. Nyquist plots show a single capacitive loop in uninhibited and inhibited solutions. From EFM the causality factors are very close to theoretical values which indicate that the measured data are of good quality. The adsorption process of the studied extract on steel surface obeys Temkin adsorption isotherm. The results obtained from the different electrochemical techniques were in good agreement which prove the validity of these tools in measurement of corrosion rate. Ginger extract has no effect on Escherichia Coli and can be applied safely on waste water treatment plants.

  • The circadian clock is an internal system that is synchronized by external stimuli, such as light and temperature, and influences various physiological and developmental processes in living organisms. In the model plant Arabidopsis, transcriptional, translational and post-translational processes are interlocked by feedback loops among morning- and evening-phased genes. In a post-translational loop, plant-specific single-gene encoded GIGANTEA (GI) stabilize the F-box protein ZEITLUPE (ZTL), driving the targeted-proteasomal degradation of TIMING OF CAB EXPRESSION 1 (TOC1) and PSEUDO-RESPONSE REGULATOR 5 (PRR5). Inherent to this, we demonstrate the novel biochemical function of GI as a chaperone and/or co-chaperone of Heat-Shock Protein 90 (HSP90). GI prevents ZTL degradation as a chaperone and facilitates ZTL maturation together with HSP90/HSP70, enhancing ZTL activity in vitro and in planta. GI is known to be involved in a wide range of physiology and development as well as abiotic stress responses in plants, but it could also interact with diverse client proteins to increase protein maturation. Our results provide evidence that GI helps proteostasis of ZTL by acting as a chaperone and a co-chaperone of HSP90 for proper functioning of the Arabidopsis circadian clock.

  • LTE-Advanced aims at peak data rates of 1Gbits/s for the downlink and 500 Mbits/s for the uplink, which can be accomplished only by using wide spectrum allocation of 100MHz as well as advanced multiple input multiple output antenna techniques to the uplink. This paper analyzes the uplink precoding techniques which include LTE codebook of downlink, singular value decomposition codebook, and equal gain transmission codebook over LTE defined single carrier frequency division multiplexing systems. Finally considering nonlinear transmit power amplifier model, it is shown that link-level performance of EGT is superior to those of any other precoding schemes.

A Design of Wide band Dual Folded Microstrip Antennas (광대역 이중 폴디드 마이크로스트립 안테나 설계)

  • In this paper, a single plane wide band microstrip antenna for integrated circuit as MMIC and LTCC is designed and fabricated. A new configuration for a wide band microstrip antenna with omni-directional pattern is proposed. This antenna consists of two rectangular folded dipoles, which are fed by a coplanar waveguide(CPW). It was effected stabilization ground that a signal plane of CPW feed have been limited ground plane. Therefore, a ground plane of folded structure should be extended outside folded antenna in this research. The characteristics of the proposed antenna were analyzed by using an FDTD methods. The return loss and radiation patterns were simulated and measured. The proposed antenna is get 120MHz bandwidth of PCS band and 250MHz bandwidth of IMT2000 band, used ISM band.

Daily Heating Performance of a Ground Source Multi-heat Pump at Heating Mode (지열원 물대공기 멀티 히트펌프의 일일 난방 운전 특성에 관한 실증 연구)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the daily heating performance of ground source multi-heat pump system with vertical single U-tube type GLHXs, which were installed in a school building located in Cheonan. Daily average COP of heat pump unit on Jan. 12th, 2009 at heating mode was lower than it on Nov. 10th, 2008 and Dec. 15th, 2008, because of lower EWT of the outdoor heat exchanger and relatively smaller size of condenser and evaporator. But, the system COP on the former was higher than it on the latter because ground loop circulating pump was operated in rated speed. It is suggested that the new algorithms to control the flow rate of secondary fluid for GLHX according to load change have to be developed in order to enhance the performance of the system COP.

Preparation of Ferroelectric $YMnO_3$ Thin Films by Metal-Organic Decomposition Process and their Characterization (Metal-Organic Decomposition법에 의한 강유전성 $YMnO_3$ 박막의 제조 및 특성)

  • The ferroelectric YMnO3 thin films were prepared by MOD(metal-organic decomposition) method with Y- and Mn-acetylacetonate as starting materials. Thin films were grown on various substrates by spin-coating technique. The crystalline phases of the thin films were identified by X-ray diffractometer as a function of heat-treatment temperature, pH of coating solution and substrate. In addition, the effect of Mn/Y molar ratio(0.8~1.2) on the formation of hexagonal-YMnO3 phase was investigated. In forming highly c-axisoriented hexagonal-YMnO3 single phase, the Pt coated Si substrate was more effective than the bare Si substrate, and the optimum heat-treatment condition was at 82$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Higher Mn/Y molar ratio within 0.8~1.2 and pH of YMnO3 precursor solution within 0.5~2.5 favored formation of ferroelectric hexagonal phase rather than orthorhombic phase. Leakage current density of the hexagonal-YMnO3 thin film formed on Pt(111)/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate was low enough as 0.4~4.0$\times$10-8(A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) at 5 V and its remanent polarization(Pr), calculated from the P-E hysteresis loop, was 3 nC/$\textrm{cm}^2$.
