Approximately 20% of the total fire is electrical fire, and electrical energy is a potential source of heat. Large-scale fault currents that occur during a line ground fault flow into electric utility poles, electric power equipment, or electric appliances of the customer, and cause simultaneous electrical fire. In this paper, we investigated the possibility of fire through the change of fault current flowing in faulty and sound feeder in case of 1 line ground fault in 22.9 kV distribution line. We propose a fire investigation analysis method for simultaneous multiple electrical fire such as evidence analysis method, and fault current occurrence confirmation method in case of fire accident by analyzing the fault current occurring in the ground fault in the distribution line using EMTP, electric power system analysis program.

The fault current limiting characteristics of three-phase transformer type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), which consisted of three-phase primary and secondary windings wound on E-I iron core, one high-TC superconducting (HTSC) element connected with the secondary winding of one phase and another HTSC element connected in parallel with other two secondary windings of two phases, were analyzed. Unlike other three-phase transformer type SFCLs with three HTSC elements, three-phase transformer type SFCL using double quench has the merit to perform fault current limiting operation for three-phase ground faults with two HTSC elements. To verify its proper three-phase ground fault current limiting operation, three-phase ground faults such as single-line ground, double-line ground and triple-line ground faults were generated in three-phase simulated power system installed with three-phase transformer type SFCL using double quench. From analysis of its fault current limiting characteristics based on tested results, three-phase transformer type SFCL using double quench was shown to be effectively operated for all three-phase ground faults.

In this paper, the limiting characteristics of the fault current in a power system with a superconducting fault current limiter(SFCL) applied into neutral line of main transformer in a distribution power line were analyzed. The SFCL applied into the neutral line of main transformer power system can limit the unsymmetrical fault current from the single-line ground fault or the double-line ground fault. In addition, it could be decreased a number of SFCL and a load. This method could be expected to reduction of a power loss in the neutral line, because of a neutral line current is zero in ordinary times.

We investigated the quench characteristics in integrated three-phase flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL), which consisted of three-phase flux-lock reactor wound on one iron core with the same turn's ratio between coil 1 and coil 2 for each single phase. To study the quench characteristics of the SFCL, the experiments was performed on various fault type such as the single line-to-ground fault, the double line-to-ground fault, the triple line-to-ground fault. From the experimental results, the generated point of element resistances was different on various fault type.

We investigated the quench characteristics of the flux-lock type superconducting fault current limiter (SFCL) integrated three-phase according to fault types such as the single-line-to-ground fault, the double-line-to-ground fault and the three-line-to-ground. The structure of integrated three-phase flux-lock type SFCL consists of single core which have three-phase flux-lock reactors. The superconducting elements connected sound phase as well as fault phase happened to quenching. Therefore we conformed that the superconducting elements were dependent.
This paper proposes a fault location algorithm for two-parallel transmission line in the case of single line-to-ground fault Proposed algorithm is using voltage and current measured in the sending-end. The fault distance is simply determined by solving a second order polynomial equation due to the direct circuit analysis. The simulations by PSCAD/EMTDC have demonstrated the accuracy and effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
We simulated the current limiting characteristics of a resistive SFCL with 16 ${\Omega}$ of resistance for a single line-to-ground fault in the 22.9 kV system. The transient current during the fault increased up to 6.33 kA, 5.80 kA and 3.71 kA without SFCL at the fault angles of 0${\circ}$,45${\circ}$ and 90${\circ}$, respectively. An resistive SFCL limited the fault current to 2.27 kA in a half cycle. The quench resistance of 16 ${\Omega}$ was suggested to be appropriate to limit the fault current in the 22.9 kV distribution system.
This paper presents the rapid and accurate algorithm for fault discrimination in transmission lines. When faults occur in transmission lines, fault discrimination is very important. If high impedance faults occur in transmission lines, it cannot be detected by overcurrent relays. The method using current and voltage cannot discriminate high impedance fault. Because of this reason this paper uses voltage and zero sequence current, and the proposed algorithm uses fuzzy logic method. This algorithm uses voltage and zero sequence current per period in case of faults. Single line ground fault and three-phase fault can be detective using voltage. Two-line ground fault and line to line fault and high impedance can be detected using zero sequence current. To prove the performance of the algorithm, it test algorithm with signal obtained from ATPDraw simulation.

Superconducting fault current(SFCLs) are expected to improve not only reliability but also stability of real power systems. The analysis on the single line-to-ground fault current of the integrated three phase flux-lock type SFCL, which consists of three flux-lock reactor wound on an iron core in each single phase and three YBCO thin films, was investigated in current limiting operating characteristics. We compared additive polarity winding with the subtractive one in the flux lock reactor. Its turns ratio each phase between the primary and the secondary coils is 63:42. When a single line-to-ground fault occurred in any phase, the peak value of line current in the fault phase of the additive polarity winding increased up to 31.44[A] during first-half cycle. On the other hand, the peak value in the subtractive polarity winding increased up to 81.77[A] under the same conditions. This is because the current flow between the primary and the secondary windings becomes to be additive or subtractive in each winding direction. We confirmed that the current limiting behavior in the additive polarity winding was more effective for a single-line-to ground fault.

This paper presents a fault location algorithm for a single phase-to-ground fault on 3-terminal transmission systems. The method uses only the local end voltage and current signals. Other currents used for the algorithm are estimated by current distribution factors and the local end current. Negative sequence current is used to remove the effect of load current. Five distance equations based on Kirchhoff's voltage law are established for the location algorithm which can be applied to a parallel transmission line having a teed circuit. Separating the real and imaginary parts of each distance equation, final nonlinear equations that are functions of the fault location can be obtained. The Newton-Raphson method is then applied to calculate the estimated fault location. Among the solutions, a correct fault distance is selected by the conditions of the existence of solution. With the results of extensive S/W and H/W simulation tests, it was verified that the proposed algorithm can estimate an accurate fault distance in a 154kV model system.
