  • We determined the feasibility of a fishing camera system using an optical fiber as the fishing line by testing a power-over-fiber (POF) module and multimode optical fiber. Operation of the remote camera module (RCM) without the battery was preferred because the removal of the charging or battery replacement section enabled a waterproof single-body type design. The average efficiency of the photovoltaic power converter (PPC) in the tested POF module was 32.6% at 820 nm, and thus, a high-power laser of at least 1.27 W was required for operating the developed RCM with an electrical dissipation of 413 mW. Because the optical fiber was wound on a fishing reel, composite loss composed of bending and tensile loss occurred. To mitigate the composite loss, we employed a simple holder that showed an improvement in the composite loss of 0.38 dB to 0.8 dB, which was considerably better than the losses without the holder.

  • In this paper we propose a new background motion compensation method which can be applicable to moving object detection with a moving monocular camera. To estimate the background motion, a series of image warpings are carried out for each pair of the corresponding patches, defined by the fixed-size lattice, based on the motion information extracted from the feature points surrounded by the patches and the estimated camera motion. Experiment results proved that the proposed has approximately 50% faster in execution time and 8dB higher in PSNR comparing to a conventional method.

  • This paper proposes a matching method of GIS lane information with a vehicle position using camera image to reduce DGPS error. Images of straight road are taken using a camera that is installed on the front center of the vehicle, and the distance between the vehicle and the lane are estimated using the images. The current GIS lane data is matched by comparing the estimated distance and the measured distance using a DGPS. Inverse perspective mapping is used to minimize the error of image processing from the heading angle, and single buffering method is applied to decide the exact moment of GIS match. Through practical test on the highway, feasibility of the GIS matching using camera image is confirmed.

  • The Mega-pixel camera phones become main trends in mobile phone market. The lens modules used in mesa-pixel camera phones need high resolution. One of the main factors of resolution drop is the defects of bare lens. Though there are many advantages in auto-inspection of defects of bare lens, high technical problems take the defect inspections to be done with manual process. In this paper, the type and the source of defects were described and bare lens defect auto-inspection system design was explained. The designed auto-inspection system is composed of illumination optics part, focusing optics part and auto-moving system. With the proposed auto-inspection system, fast and uniform inspection of bare lens can be achieved.

  • Objective: This study aims to conduct a comprehensive review of monitoring systems to monitor and manage physical function of community-dwelling elderly living alone and suggest future directions of unobtrusive monitoring. Design: Literature review Methods: The importance of health-related monitoring has been emphasized due to the aging population and novel corona virus (COVID-19) outbreak. As the population gets old and because of changes in culture, the number of single-person households among the elderly is expected to continue to increase. Elders are staying home longer and their physical function may decline rapidly, which can be a disturbing factorto successful aging. Therefore, systematic elderly management must be considered. Results: Frequently used technologies to monitor elders at home included red, green, blue (RGB) camera, accelerometer, passive infrared (PIR) sensor, wearable devices, and depth camera. Of them all, considering privacy concerns and easy-to-use features for elders, depth camera possibly can be a technology to be adapted at homes to unobtrusively monitor physical function of elderly living alone. The depth camera has been used to evaluate physical functions during rehabilitation and proven its efficiency. Conclusions: Therefore, physical monitoring system that is unobtrusive should be studied and developed in the future to monitor physical function of community-dwelling elderly living alone for the aging population.

  • A tele-operated robot should be used to maintain and inspect nuclear power plants to reduce the radiation exposure to the human operators. During an overhaul of the nuclear power plants in Korea, a ROV(Remotely Operated Vehicle) may enter a cold-leg connected to the reactor to examine the state of the thermal sleeve and it's position in the safety injection nozzle. To measure the positions of the thermal sleeve or scratches from the video images captured during the examination, the camera parameters should be identified. However, the focal length of the CCD camera could be increased to a close up of the target and the aspect ratio and the center of the image could also be varied with capturing devices. So, it is desired to self-calibrated the intrinsic parameters of the camera and capturing device with the video images captured during the examination. In the video image of the safety injection nozzle, two or more circular grooves around the nozzle are shown as ellipse contours. In this paper, we propose a camera self-calibration method using a single image containing two circular grooves which are the greatest circles of the cylindrical nozzle whose radius and distance are known.

  • The size of a display is large, The form becoming various of that do not apply to previous methods of gaze tracking and if setup gaze-track-camera above display, can solve the problem of size or height of display. However, This method can not use of infrared illumination information of reflected cornea using previous methods. In this paper, Robust pupil detecting method for eye's occlusion, corner point of inner eye and center of pupil, and using the face pose information proposes a method for calculating the simply position of the gaze. In the proposed method, capture the frame for gaze tracking that according to position of person transform camera mode of wide or narrow angle. If detect the face exist in field of view(FOV) in wide mode of camera, transform narrow mode of camera calculating position of face. The frame captured in narrow mode of camera include gaze direction information of person in long distance. The method for calculating the gaze direction consist of face pose estimation and gaze direction calculating step. Face pose estimation is estimated by mapping between feature point of detected face and 3D model. To calculate gaze direction the first, perform ellipse detect using splitting from iris edge information of pupil and if occlusion of pupil, estimate position of pupil with deformable template. Then using center of pupil and corner point of inner eye, face pose information calculate gaze position at display. In the experiment, proposed gaze tracking algorithm in this paper solve the constraints that form of a display, to calculate effectively gaze direction of person in the long distance using single camera, demonstrate in experiments by distance.

  • This paper proposes a camera motion estimation technique using special relations of motion vectors of geometrically symmetrical triple points of two consecutive views of single camera. The proposed technique uses camera-induced motion vectors and their relations other than feature points and epioplar constraints. As contrast to the time consuming iterations or numerical methods in the calculation of E-matrix or F-matrix induced by epipolar constraints, the proposed technique calculates camera motion parameters such as panning, tilting, rolling, and zooming at once by applying the proposed linear equation sets to the motion vectors. And by devised background discriminants, it effectively reflects only the background region into the calculation of motion parameters, thus making the calculation more accurate and fast enough to accommodate MPEG-4 requirements. Experimental results on various types of sequences show the validity and the broad applicability of the proposed technique.

  • A method of estimating the distance using single zoom camera limits a distance range(only optical axis) in field of view. So, in this paper, we propose a method of estimating the distance information in Stereoscopic display using the stereo zoom lens module for estimating the distance in the wide range. The binocular stereo zoom lens system is composed using a horizontal moving camera module. The left and right images are acquired in polarized stereo monitor for getting the conversion and estimating a distance. The error distance is under 10mm which has difference between optically a traced distance and an estimated distance in left and right range $(0mm{\sim}500mm)$ at center. This presents the system using a function of the zoom and conversion has more precise distance information than that of conversion control. Also, a method of estimating a distance from horizontal moving camera is more precise value than that from toe-in camera by comparing the error distance of the two camera methods.
