A simple scheme using the single equivalent machine representation, equivalent loss reprsentation and direct hydro-MW representation are applied to economic dispatch for practical applications. A,simple approach to calculation of incremental transmission losses is proposed from the fast decoupled load flow algorithm. This program is presently being tested on KECO system.
The problem of scheduling n jobs on a single machine is considered when the machine is subject to stochastic breakdowns. The objective is to minimize the weighted squared deviation of job completion times from a common due date. Two versions of the problem are addressed. In the first one the common due date is a given constant, whereas in the second one the common due date is a decision variable. In each case, a general form of deterministic equivalent of the stochastic scheduling problem is obtained when the counting process N(t) related to the machine uptimes is a Poisson process. It is proved that an optimal schedule must be V-shaped in terms of weighted processing time when the agreeable weight condition is satisfied. Based on the V-shape property, two dynamic programming algorithms are proposed to solve both versions of the problem.
This study is initiated to solve the problem that the development of an electric machine to drive heavy horse-power load required in the rural district, where only single phase supply is available, is very urgent. As a method for this purpose, the single/three phase converter by single phase induction machine with a tapped auxiliary winding, running unloaded mechanically under single-phase source and supplying three-phase output to a loaded 3-phase induction motor, is devised and the pilot machine is put into test. Analysis based on hybrid equivalent circuit for the phase converter and symmertical component theory for the 3-phase load motor and practical experiment result in that optimum auxiliary winding ratio is to be 1.25 rather than theoretical .root.3/2 in order to keep the voltage unbalance ratio of 3-phase output from the converter as low as possible in both cases of starting and running the load motor.
A single machine stochastic scheduling problem is considered. Associated with each job is its random processing time and random deferral cost. The criterion is to order the jobs so as to minimize the sum of the deferral costs. The expected sum of the deferral costs is theroretically derived under the stochastic situation for each of several scheduling decision rules which are well known for the deterministic environment. It is also shown that certain stochastic problems can be reduced to equivalent deterministic problems. Two examples are illustrated to show the expected total deferral costs.
General steady state equivalent circuits are derived for the family of single phase motor having two windings with non-quadrature. First, the fundamental voltage equations of motor are derived by Faraday-Krichhoff's low in the fiew of the flux distribution in the modified motor with Kron primitive machine. Those equations are arranged in to f-b equations by transformation matrix. To using the above equations for circuit; 1) The concept of current-source was much help to sove the realtions between matrix impedance equation and circuit analysis 2) The simplification of the circuit to the mutual impedance matrix elements is easy to considerations of motor characteristics in the case of inserted external auxiliary winding impedance. Finally, this equivalent circuit showing as a single phase induction motor with quadrature winding is described by each conditions.
This paper presents a new systematic contingency selection, screening and ranking method for on-line transient security assessment. Transient stability of a particular generator is influenced most by fault near it. Fault at the transmission lines adjacent to the generators are selected as contingency. Two screening methods are developed using the sensitivity of modal synchronizing torque coefficient and computing an approximate critical clearing time(CCT) without time simulation. The first method, which considers only synchronizing power, may mislead in some cases since it does not consider the acceleration power. The approximate CCT method, which consider both the acceleration and deceleration power, worked well. Finally the Single Machine Equivalent(SIME) method is implemented using IPLAN of PSS/E for detailed stability analysis.
A single-phase induction motor with it's stator winding splitted into two series windings, of which the terminals of one winding is switched pulsationally by a thyristor type ON-OFF device so that the motor may operate as a pulsational shaded-pole motor, can modulate current waveforms of it's two series windings. In view of current waveform modulation method, a single-phase single-winding motor operates as a two-phase induction motor with asymmetrical axis windings where the starting torque can be obtained effectively without an auxiliary capacitor attached and it's running speed controlled by shifting phase between current waveforms differently. Equivalent circuit for analysis is modified from a double revolving field equivalent circuit of a single-phase induction motor with asymmetrical windings whose angle is 45.deg.C elet. degrees. Analysis and test results show that ON-OFF action of the pulsational shaded-pole winding has the same effect of a series capacitor, and then at heavy loads this motor operates with a small amonut of the input current than that having the fixed shaded-pole winding.
SIME(SIngle Machine Equivalent) method has been recognized as a useful tool to determine transient stability of power systems. In this paper, SIME method is used to develop the KEPCO transient stability assessment (TSA) tool. A new screening algorithm that can be implemented in SIME method is proposed. The salient feature of the proposed screening algorithm is as follows. First, critical generators are identified by a new index in the early stage of the time domain simulation. Thus, computational time required to find OMIB(One Machine Infinite Bus) can be reduced significantly. Second, clustering critical machines can be performed even in very stable cases. It enables to be avoid extra calculation of time trajectory that is needed in SIME for classifying the stable cases. Finally, using power-angle trajectory and subdividing contingency classification have improved the screening capability. This algorithm is applied to the fast TSA of the KEPCO system.

This paper presents an electromagnetic analysis of a tubular linear machine with axially magnetized permanent magnets using improved analytical techniques. Based on the magnetic vector potential and a two-dimensional polar-coordinate system, the magnetic field and armature reaction field can be derived. Using these, equivalent circuit parameters, such as the electromotive force and inductance, can be obtained analytically. Finally, the generating characteristics are derived with the equivalent circuit method. In this study, the finite element method was employed to provide a comparative evaluation, and experiments were conducted to validate the results of the analytical analysis.
