  • This paper presents the new hybrid data mining technique using error pattern, modeling of improving classification accuracy. The proposed method improves classification accuracy by combining two different supervised learning methods. The main algorithm generates error pattern modeling between the two supervised learning methods(ex: Neural Networks, Decision Tree, Logistic Regression and so on.) The Proposed modeling method has been applied to the simulation of 10,000 data sets generated by Normal and exponential random distribution. The simulation results show that the performance of proposed method is superior to the existing methods like Logistic regression and Discriminant analysis.

  • As the equipments with the fast load characteristics become popular, a onboard generator should satisfy the fast response characteristics. This paper describes the modeling, simulation and experiment of the homo-polar generator developed for the fast load. The simulation model of a homo-polar generator with input limiter is developed, and the optimal gain to improve the response characteristics can be determined by simulation and analysis. The improved bandwidth and stability of the developed generator with optimal gain are verified by simulation and experiment.

  • Numerical prediction of dynamic behavior of fully coupled saturated porous media is of great importance in many engineering problems. Specifically, static and dynamic response of soils - porous media with pores filled with fluid, such as air, water, etc. - can only be modeled properly using fully coupled approaches. Modeling and simulation of static and dynamic behavior of soils require significant Verification and Validation (V&V) procedures in order to build credibility and increase confidence in numerical results. By definition, Verification is essentially a mathematics issue and it provides evidence that the model is solved correctly, while Validation, being a physics issue, provides evidence that the right model is solved. This paper focuses on Verification procedure for fully coupled modeling and simulation of porous media. Therefore, a complete Solution Verification suite has been developed consisting of analytical solutions for both static and dynamic problems of porous media, in time domain. Verification for fully coupled modeling and simulation of porous media has been performed through comparison of the numerical solutions with the analytical ones. Modeling and simulation is based on the so called, u-p-U formulation. Of particular interest are numerical dispersion effects which determine the level of numerical accuracy. These effects are investigated in detail, in an effort to suggest a compromise between numerical error and computational cost.

  • This research handles the performance improvement effect by the Modeling & Simulation and shows the design, implementation, test results of the new 3-axis magnetometer which is the core component of strategic offensive deploying mine. The submarine is modelled by using the commercial electromagnetic field analysis tool on numerical value, and its magnetic field characteristic is predicted in order to apply the new magnetometer to the future underwater weapon system. The method to take the performance test results of new 3-axis magnetometer in the land is shown instead of the real test result in sea by making the miniature submarine.

  • This paper presents multi-fidelity modeling and simulation (M&S) methodology to enhance simulation performance of engineering-level defense models. In this approach, a set of models with varying degrees of fidelity is exercised to reduce computational expense maintaining a similar level of system effectiveness. For multi-fidelity M&S principles, this paper defines model fidelity from two perspectives (i.e., model behavior and execution), and suggests the Fidelity Change Point (FCP) to specify the fidelity conversion. With these concepts, this paper centers on three ideas: 1) two models' structure which are the Behavioral-Fidelity Interchangeable Model (B-FIM) and the Executional-Fidelity Interchangeable Model (E-FIM), 2) modeling formalism, and 3) a simulation algorithm to support them. From an abstract case study regarding a target tracking scenario with the utilization of the proposed method, we can gain interesting experimental results regarding the enhancement of simulation performance. Finally, we expect that this work will serve various M&S-based analysis areas for enhancing simulation performance.

  • Deep-sea fishing vessel No. 501 Oryong was fully flooded through its openings and sunk to the bottom of the sea due to the very rough sea weather on the way of evasion after a fishing operation in the Bearing Sea. As a result, many crew members died and/or were missing. In this study, a full-scale ship flooding and sinking simulation was conducted, and the sinking process was analyzed for the precise and scientific investigation of the sinking accident using a highly advanced Modeling & Simulation (M&S) system of the Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) analysis technique. To objectively secure the weather and sea states during the sinking accident in the Bering Sea, time-based wind and wave simulation at the region of the sinking accident was conducted and analyzed, and the weather and sea states were realized by simulating the irregular strong wave and wind spectrums. Simulation scenarios were developed and full-scale ship and fluid (air & seawater) modeling was performed for the flooding sinking simulation, by investigating the hull form, structural arrangement & weight distribution, and exterior inflow openings and interior flooding paths through its drawings, and by estimating the main tank capacities and their loading status. It was confirmed that the flooding and sinking accident was slightly different from a general capsize and sinking accident according to the simple loss of stability.

  • Application of CAE analyses are wide spread in shaping processes and structural safety verification of plastic products. The importance of CAE analysis and its contributions are getting increase since the processibility and structural safety of product can be predicted. CAE analysis for complex shaped product need a lot of time for modeling and computation compare with simpler one. Therefore careful simulation modeling is required for complex shaped product. Structural analysis for plastic door handle of automobile has been performed and structural safety has been investigated for various load directions and modeling cases. Large stress occurred at the hinge in handle regardless of load direction and modeling case. Consequently hinge is considered structurally very weak among the parts in plastic door handle. It is concluded that simple modeling rather than total modeling with adequate boundary condition equivalent to real situation gives reasonable computational results with saving modeling effort and computation time.

  • Modeling and Simulation(M&S) has widely been used in various areas such as industry, academy and military. Especially, military have used the technology for acquisition, training, and combat assessment. In this paper, we introduce our experience using M&S technique to analyze the network traffic amount and packet delay time between two military bases. For this, we modeled the current network configuration of the military bases and simulated the model with NS-3 tool. The result provided us for an insight regarding the required network performance between two bases.

  • This study presents a macro-modeling procedure for nonlinear finite element analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete panels under blast loading. The analysis procedure treats cracked concrete as an orthotropic material based on a smeared rotating crack model within the context of total-load secant stiffness-based formulation. A direct time integration method compatible with the analysis formulation is adapted to solve the dynamic equation of motion. Considerations are made to account for strain rate effects. The analysis procedure is verified by modeling 14 blast tests from various sources reported in the literature including a blast simulation contest. The analysis results are compared against those obtained from experiments, simplified single-degree-of-freedom (SDOF) methods, and sophisticated hydrocodes. It is demonstrated that the smeared crack macro-modeling approach is a viable alternative analysis procedure that gives more information about the structural behavior than SDOF methods, but does not require detailed micro-modeling and extensive material characterization typically needed with hydrocodes.
