하이브리드 시스템 모델링 및 시뮬레이션 - 제2부: 시뮬레이터 연동 환경 (Hybrid Systems Modeling and Simulation - Part II: Interoperable Simulation Environment)

  • Hybrid simulation may employ different types of simulation based on which models in different system types are developed. The simulation requires simulation time synchronization and data exchange between such simulators, which is called simulators interoperation. This paper develops such interoperable simulation environments for modeling and simulation of hybrid systems whose components consist of continuous and discrete event systems. The environments, one for centerized and the other for distribute, support interoperation between a discrete event simulator of DEVSim++ and a continuous simulator of MATLAB. The centerized environment, HDEVSim++, is developed by extending the sxisting DEVSim++ environment; the distributed environment, HDEVSimHLA, is developed using the HLA/RTl library. Verification of both environments is made and performance comparison between the two using a simple example is presented. .

  • 국방 M&S 분야에서 모의 기반 획득 방법이 필수적인 정책으로 인식되면서 획득 단계별 M&S 적용을 위한 협업이 필요해지고 M&S 컴포넌트를 쉽게 개발하고 공유하기 위한 공통 기반환경의 구축이 필요하게 되었다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 모델 개발 재사용성 향상을 위한 형식론 기반의 시뮬레이션 프레임워크와 신속 개발을 위한 GUI 기반 모델링 환경을 제안한다. 제안하는 프레임워크는 플러그인 기반으로 동작하며 XML 기반 객체 모델을 바탕으로 하고 있기 때문에 모델의 개발과 변경에 대해 유연한 설계를 할 수 있으며 외부체계 연동, 모델 데이터 로깅과 같은 시뮬레이션 지원 기능을 구현하는데 효과적이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 프레임워크 및 모델링 개발 도구의 구조와 기능 요소들에 대해 설명한다.

Agent 기반 모델링에 의한 근접전투 손실예측 방법론 (Agent-Based Modeling Methodology for Close-Combat Attrition Estimates)

  • 본 연구는 근접전투 손실 모델링 분야에서 좀 더 개선된 워게임 모델링 방법론을 제시한다. 지금까지 군사 운영분석가들은 랜체스터형 미분 방정식과 같은 방정식 기반 모델링 방법론을 사용해서 전투손실 평가를 하고 있다. 방정식 기반 모델링 방법론은 워게임 모의결과를 분석 및 평가하기는 용이하나 동적인 전장환경을 모의하기에는 다수의 제한사항을 포함하고 있다. 이러한 방정식 기반 모델링 방법론의 결점을 극복하기 위해서 본 연구에서는 에이전트 기반 모델링 방법론을 제시한다. 에이전트 기반 모델링 방법론은 전투손실계수 대신에 전투손실 행위에 기반하여 근접전투를 모델링한다. 2가지 모델링 방법론에 의해서 유사한 근접전투 상황 하에서 모델링 된 자료를 모의하여 비교분석 및 평가한다.

Crack Analysis of Piezoelectric Material Considering Bounded Uncertain Material Properties

  • Piezoelectric materials are widely used to construct smart or adaptive structures. Although extensive efforts have been devoted to the analysis of piezoelectric materials in recent years, most researches have been conducted by assuming that the material properties are fixed and have no uncertainties. Intrinsically, material properties have a certain amount of scatter and such uncertainties can affect the performance of component. In this paper, the convex modeling is used to consider such uncertainties in calculating the crack extension force of piezoelectric material and the results are compared with the one obtained via the Monte Carlo simulation. Numerical results show that crack extension forces increase when uncertainties considered, which indicates that such uncertainties should not be ignored for reliable lifetime prediction. Also, the results obtained by the convex modeling and the Monte Carlo simulation show good agreement, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the convex modeling.

Computationally efficient 3D finite element modeling of RC structures

  • A detailed finite element modeling is presented for the simulation of the nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete structures which manages to predict the nonlinear behavior of four different experimental setups with computational efficiency, robustness and accuracy. The proposed modeling method uses 8-node hexahedral isoparametric elements for the discretization of concrete. Steel rebars may have any orientation inside the solid concrete elements allowing the simulation of longitudinal as well as transverse reinforcement. Concrete cracking is treated with the smeared crack approach, while steel reinforcement is modeled with the natural beam-column flexibility-based element that takes into consideration shear and bending stiffness. The performance of the proposed modeling is demonstrated by comparing the numerical predictions with existing experimental and numerical results in the literature as well as with those of a commercial code. The results show that the proposed refined simulation predicts accurately the nonlinear inelastic behavior of reinforced concrete structures achieving numerical robustness and computational efficiency.

Acoustic performance of industrial mufflers with CAE modeling and simulation

  • This paper investigates the noise transmission performance of industrial mufflers widely used in ships based on the CAE modeling and simulation. Since the industrial mufflers have very complicated internal structures, the conventional Transfer Matrix Method (TMM) is of limited use. The CAE modeling and simulation is therefore required to incorporate commercial softwares: CATIA for geometry modeling, MSC/PATRAN for FE meshing and LMS/SYSNOISE for analysis. Main sources of difficulties in this study are led by complicated arrangement of reactive elements, perforated walls and absorption materials. The reactive elements and absorbent materials are modeled by applying boundary conditions given by impedance. The perforated walls are modeled by applying the transfer impedance on the duplicated node mesh. The CAE approach presented in this paper is verified by comparing with the theoretical solution of a concentric-tube resonator and is applied for industrial mufflers.

  • The modeling of PV (Photovoltaic) module is useful to perform detailed analysis of PV system performance for changing meteorological conditions, verify actual rated power of PV system sizing and determine the optimal design of PV system and components. This paper indicates a modeling approach of PV module performance in terms of meteorological conditions and identifies validity of this modeling method by comparing measured with simulated value of various PV modules using simulation model.

  • 인구수 감소와 국방개혁으로 인한 병력 감축, 4차 산업혁명 기술의 초고도화에 따른 기술적 요인으로 국방 M&S의 개체를 자동화 모의하는 것은 이제 군의 현실적인 목표가 되었다. 자동화 모의 기술의 사용자인 군과 기술을 개발해야 하는 공학자들의 공통된 방향설정이 필요한 시점이다. 본 연구는 향후 국방 M&S의 자동화 모의 연구를 위한 가이드라인을 제시한다. 이를 위해, 먼저 자동화 모의를 가능하게 방법론들 규칙-기반방법, 에이전트-기반방법, 학습-기반방법에 대해 논의하고, 이어서 이러한 방법론을 어떠한 방향으로 개발해야 하는지에 대해 논의한다. 연구를 통해 국방 M&S의 자동화 모의 기술 연구가 본격화 되고, 군과 개발자 사이의 간극이 좁혀지기를 기대한다.

  • The cost of simulation modeling, the expertise required, and the pains of starting a new each time are impediments to more wide spread adoption of simulation technology. In addition, one of the most critical problems in the field of computer simulation today is the lack of published models and physical objects within the World Wide Web (WWW) allowing such distribution. From the viewpoint of WWW as distributed model repositories, it can be assumed that very many simulation models exist on the web. This paper is based on the premise that WWW is a distributed repository. Design Pattern, web-oriented technology like Java and CORBA, which are especially to cope with distributed objects, are introduced and discussed in detail for integration of simulation model. In this paper an architecture of model integration is proposed, which presents the whole procedure of model integration and how the Internet technologies are connected in. ViP: A Practical Approach to Platform-based System Modeling Methodology

  • Research on highly abstracted system modeling and simulation has received a great deal of attention as of the concept of platform based design is becoming ubiquitous. From a practical design point of view, such modeling and simulation must consider the following: (i) fast simulation speed and cycle accuracy, (ii) early availability for early stage software development, (iii) inter-operability with external tools for software development, and (iv) reusability of the models. Unfortunately, however, all of the previous works only partially addresses the requirements, due to the inherent conflicts among the requirements. The objective of this study is to develop a new system design methodology to effectively address the requirements mentioned above. We propose a new transaction-level system modeling methodology, called ViP (Virtual Platform). We propose a two-step approach in the ViP method. In phase 1, we create a ViP for early stage software development (before RTL freeze). The ViP created in this step provides high speed simulation, lower cycle accuracy with only minor modeling effort.(satisfying (ii)). In phase 2, we refine the ViP to increase the cycle accuracy for system performance analysis and software optimization (satisfying (i)). We also propose a systematic ViP modeling flow and unified interface scheme based on utilities developed for maximizing reusability and productivity (satisfying (ii) and (iv)) and finally, we demonstrate VChannel, a generic scheme to provide a connection between the ViP and the host-resident application software (satisfying (iii)). ViP had been applied to several System-on-a-chip (SoC) designs including mobile applications, enabling engineers to improve performance while reducing the software development time by 30% compared to traditional methods.
