The objectives of this study are to evaluate the applicability of SCS TR-20 model for small ungauged watershed, to show the behavior of the model with variation of topography in watershed, and to evaluate the storage effect of paddy field for flood flow. For this purpose, simulated data from the model were compared with the observed flood data at two sites (HS#3, HS#4) in Balan watershed. From the comparison between simulated and observed data, it was found that the model is applicable to this watershed.

This study involves the estimation of optimal ranges of parameters for a linear watershed model. A well-known TANK model was chosen and a linear combination of four tanks assumed. The model was used to simulate daily streamflow for six watersheds of different sizes and by a trial-and-error approach a set of optimal parameters defined. The parameters were related to watershed sizes and land use conditions. Optimal parameters for ungaged conditions were defined from the relationships; daily streamflow simulated and compared to the observed date. The simulated results were in a general agreement with the data.

This paper proposes an approach for individual selection in genetic algorithms to improve problem solving efficiency and effectiveness. To investigate the utility of combining simulated annealing with genetic algorithm, two experiment are conducted that compare both the conventional genetic algorithm and suggested approach. Result indicated that suggested approach significantly reduced the required time to find optimal solution in moderate-sized problems under the conditions studied. It is also found that quality of the solutions generated by suggested approach in large- sized problems is greatly improved.

The Sumjin Reservoir watershed was simulated by the SSARR model. In order to calibrate the parameters of SSARR model, watershed was divided into three sub-basins with the basin characteristics and the observed runoff datum at estuary of dam were used. As the Results of study, there was not much of difference between the observed runoff and the simulated runoff.

In the seismic response analysis, the artificial earthquake time history is generated to do the exact seismic analysis for the complex structural system like as containment building. In the present study the several simulated earthquakes are generated by use of SIMQKE program and the time history dynamic analysis of containment building is performed. Also, the seismic responses are statistically analyzed. The seismic response uncertainty arisen from the simulation of earthquakes is one of major uncertainties and the statistical description is needed to account for the random nature of earthquake.

Machining process introduces thermal deformation of a cutter, which affects the surface finish of the workpieces. By measuring the temperature distribution of the cutter, thermal stress and deformation of the cutter are simulated. In addition, surface roughness of workpiece is simulated by the surface-shaping system. The result shows that thermal deformation deteriorates the surface roughness.

In resent years, electric power quality has become an important issue in power system. Voltage variation and compensation countermeasures of KEPCO system in west Gyeongnam have been simulated using PSS/E. In this paper, in the abnormal power system, the adaption of SVC, high speed and continuous control are simulated for voltage compensation. It is shown that the SVC is the optimal voltage compensation method in loop power system or 2 lines radial system.

A mathematical model for long-rage water supply planning was formulated as a dynamic plant location problem with network arc capacity expansion, and illustative example was presented. The proposed solution procedure identifies economical construction timings of surface water supply facilities and water conveyence systems and the best water supply operating patterns as well. In this study, we present a heuristic solution procedure using Simulated annealing Method in conjunction with Bertsekas & Tseng's RELAXT-II for the 0-1 integer network problem.
