  • Network performance is degraded when the UE is disconnected because the outage occurs at the base station in a mobile communication system. Therefore it is important to detect and recover the outage. In this paper, detecting the outage base station by using the KPI and the network scanning in the neighbor base station, and increasing the transmit power and changing the frequency band to recovery the outage scheme is proposed. The proposed scheme uses not only the KPI of the base station but also the network scanning of the neighbor base stations to detect the outage base station, so that it is possible to detect the outage base station more accurately. In addition, when the outage occurred, the neighbor base station changes the transmit power and frequency band to recover the outage with less signal interference.

  • In this paper, the outage probability of device-to-device (D2D) uplink communication underlaying cellular networks is analyzed over Rayleigh fading. We assume that a D2D pair and M cellular user equipments share the same frequency resources. To prevent any harmful interference from a D2D transmitter to the BS, the maximum transmit power of the D2D transmitter is strictly limited. Under these assumptions, the outage probability is represented as a function of the interference-to-signal ratio from M cellular user equipments to a D2D receiver and the number of cellular user equipments, M. In addition, the interference-to-signal ratio is represented as a function of distances among D2D equipments, cellular user equipments and the BS. Simulation results validate these analytical results.

  • The minimum duration outage probability of a cellular system is defined the probability that the received signal level is hold under minimum required threshold duration. This definition is more realistic compared to the outage probability which is the received signal strength level is below predefined threshold level. Especially, in a DS-CDMA cellular system the received signal-to-interference ratio is a function of cell traffic, while the former researches are only considered the minimum duration outage probability independent of the cell traffic. We noticed that the minimum outage probability is rapidly increases as cell traffic increase.

  • The propagation environment is effected by Rayleigh fading, Rician fading, path loss and lognormal shadowing in microcellular mobile radio system. In these surroundings we analysed the performance on received Rician signals among L Rician interferers and the characteristics of lognormal shadowing for various parameters such as reuse distance, cluster size, signal to interference power ratio and protection ratio using outage probability. We also studied various channels Rayleigh signal and Rician interferer, Rician signal and Rayleigh interferer, Rician signal and Rician interferer and so on using outage probability. The theoretical extention and computer simulation effectively analysed the characteristic of lognormal shadowed Rician channel.

  • In this paper, we evaluate performance of a hybrid decode-amplify-forward relaying protocol in underlay cognitive radio. In the proposed protocol, a secondary relay which is chosen by partial relay selection method helps a transmission between a secondary source and a secondary destination. In particular, if the chosen relay decodes the secondary source's signal successfully, it will forward the decoded signal to the secondary destination. Otherwise, it will amplify the signal received from the secondary source and will forward the amplified signal to the secondary destination. We evaluate the performance of our scheme via theory and simulation. Results show that the proposed protocol outperforms the amplify-and-forward and decode-and-forward protocols in terms of outage probability.

  • Cooperative relaying permits one or more relay to transmit a signal from the source to the destination, thereby increasing network coverage and spectral efficiency. The performance of cooperative relaying is often measured as outage probability. However, appropriate measure for the channel quality is outage capacity. Although the outage probability for cooperative relaying protocol has been analyzed before, very little research has been addressed for the outage capacity. This paper is the first of its kind to derive a closed-form analytical solution of outage capacity using fixed decode and forward relaying and amplify and forward relaying in dissimilar Rayleigh fading channels, considering channel coefficients known to the receiver side. The analytical results show a tradeoff between the SNR and the number of relays for specific outage capacity. A comparison between decode and forward relaying and amplify and forward relaying shows that decode and forward relaying outperforms amplify and forward relaying for a large number of relays.

  • This paper presents the analytic results of outage probability, considering the effect of Rician fading, interference and interference-reduction techniques, when a mobile communication system was constructed by using Stratospheric platform, one of the next generation wireless communication infrastructure which provides high speed multimedia services. The results show that carrier to interference power ratio C/I and fading depth K have an effect on outage probability. That is, outage probability decreases as K value increases for constant C/I value and C/I value increases for constant K value.

  • In recent years, Transport Demand Management has been conducted for the efficient management of transport. In ITS applications in particular, the prerequisite is accurate and reliable positioning. However, the major problems are satellite signal outage, and multipath. This paper proposes that outage and multipath measurement can be detected and estimated using elevation angle and signal to noise ratio data association relation in stand-alone GPS. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, it is then evaluated by the car test. the evaluation test environment has low accuracy and unreliable positioning because of signal outage or multipath such as steep hill and high buildings. In the evaluation test result, 918times abnormal signal occurred and it was confirmed that the proposed method showed more improved 9.48m(RMS) horizontal positioning error than without proposed method.

  • In this letter, we analyze the outage performance of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)-based selective relaying in a relay network, where the relay terminal may retransmit the received signal or remain silent based on the received SNR of the link from the source to the relay. For the proposed relaying scheme, we derive the exact outage probability.
